A walk by the local lake to see the swans and fluffy cygnets. Will bring a picnic to eat at the end and buy ice creams at the kiosk if it’s a warm day.

icybreeze · 31/05/2026 00:27

Paddle boarding! We are planning a day trip going down our local river towards the coast,.stopping for a picnic on the way. It feels lovely to have the children at an age we can do these bigger adventures

Laam12 · 31/05/2026 13:16

Paultons Park with my baby niece!

Kweenxo · 31/05/2026 23:29

I'd love to take the family to the countryside one day and just explore with the kids. They're always curious and it would be nice to do something a little different.

We like going to Sheringham Park. You can walk through the park and get to the beach. There are lookout towers to climb on the way. You also go over a bridge and if you time it right can see a steam train going underneath.

@clairewoods137 A walk, a beach and a steam train all in one day sounds pretty perfect 🚂🌿 We'd definitely be packing comfortable layers for a day of exploring like this 😊

DD's are both teens and its difficult to do "family days out" now between competing demands/interests, exams, friends, and part time jobs.

But DD's still like their one on one days with me,where I take a modest budget & we go out together where ever they want & they make all the decisions.

DD1 would like a country walk with a pub steak lunch or a platter of local oysters as a treat. DD2 wants to try on make up, go to a cat cafe & drink big fancy "coffees".

I don't think you can beat the joy of a day at the beach with a lovely picnic.

lindseystuart85 · 01/06/2026 15:55

My partner, myself and our two girls age 14 and 6 all enjoy hiking Munros, we have completed six so far and plan to take on more during the summer months, it's a fantastic way to keep active and to spend time together exploring the beautiful outdoors away from gadgets.
We carry plenty of foods and drink and make a day of it, we plan to camp during our hikes which will be awesome!

PotofPens1 · 01/06/2026 16:34

Bike ride to a nearby lake to feed the ducks.

blackbirdsaresinging · 01/06/2026 16:46

I'm disabled, but sometimes get taken out by family in my wheelchair. A particular favourite is a trip to a cafe by a lake, followed by birdwatching from hides around the lake.

feejee33 · 01/06/2026 17:23

I wanted to find a way to keep connecting with my son as he's rapidly nearing the teen years, so we started a 'theme park' hobby. I've spent the last week being very brave going on rollercoasters with him, that I never thought I ever would...at 47.

pyramidblaster1 · 02/06/2026 12:58

I'm off to a quaint little cottage in Broughton near Skipton. We have been a number of times already, but the peacefulness and the tranquil scenery is much needed to destress from everyday life.

LaLinds789 · 03/06/2026 21:11

I would love to take my autistic son for a short break that includes animals - either Portlymph or walking Alpacas. He would love that

problembottom · 05/06/2026 13:04

My dream family day out with my other half and our seven year old would be a good old fashioned day out at the seaside in Lytham St Annes. We'd hire a beach hut and start off with a swim in the sea, followed by playing some football on the beach, we'd then sit down for some fresh fish and chips in the hut before heading over to the arcade for some games like Donkey Derby.

ammaline · 06/06/2026 15:38

We have got memberships to the Forestry Commission and Jodrell Bank so will be taking advantage of those for some days out

Gingerkittykat · 08/06/2026 02:56

I'm planning on a day at Highland Wildlife Park. It's always a great day out; the animals like tigers and polar bears have huge spaces to roam.

Asuwere · 09/06/2026 13:59

I plan on doing a treasure trail at a nearby village - will involve a leisurely walk while solving the clues. Then heading to a pick-your-own fruit farm on the way home - the hope is no one argues all day but that might not happen Wink

WimbleOfWombledon · 09/06/2026 17:05

My kids both love animals so a trip to the zoo is always a winner.

The local park / playground with the kid's bikes and a big picnic basket with a baguette, cheese, fruit and hot chocolate in a flask :)

saffysabir · 10/06/2026 22:51

I've always taken holidays abroad, mostly staying with family. However, my dream has always been staying at a cottage somewhere and just having peace and quiet and enjoying the breeze at the beach.

ruqiya1965 · 11/06/2026 00:17

Mine would be taking the family out and having a whole day just browsing shops and doing a whole load of shopping. This dream does involve having a lot of money so hopefully that becomes true too lol!
