My son has such a creative eye. He loves especially to create vehicles - cars, trains, buses, bikes - you name it. He sometimes likes to make hybrid - the funniest was a hybrid bike/ dog.

A lot of my family are Irish and I have always tried to teach my children about Ireland and their Irish relatives, particularly my great grandmother who was a fantastic woman. Every St Patrick's Day my eldest son creates a leprechaun trap. This year he made one out of Lego. It had a rainbow ladder, a free coins sign and an arrow to entice the leprechaun and then a well for the leprechaun to fall and be trapped. In the well it had a table and chairs, a pizza, a bucket and the dead skeleton of the leprechaun who failed to escape from the year before! He really enjoyed making it and spent ages on his creation. We also get the Lego out every week as a family as we watch Lego masters Australia on E4. A great show for any Lego fans.

My 5yo definitely prefers to do things together rather than on her own. The exception is playing with Lego which she quite happily does on her own. She took inspiration from the leaflet that came with the yellow brick and made a camera and an aeroplane which was very creative. She also has the electric car Lego friends set and she really enjoyed making that.

My Son and Daughter make small towns for their teddy bears, they even have public toilets and a pub!

Ratbagcatbag · 18/08/2022 21:48

My daughter loves the Lego friends sets. Particularly anything to do with animals. She loves creating wonderful homes for them, no simple kennel, hutch or basket is enough, they need to have at least three floors, gardens, as many beds as they could need. An area for pampering, a nice deep bath, and obviously a play area. Sometimes there is a fall out over who should use the space, so she obviously has to create another whole animal house to stop the arguments. 😂

My 10 YO often makes pin ball machines, puzzle cubes and currently Spider-Man shooting webs. His dream is to be a Lego Master and study Mechanical Engineering (he thinks this will help him in Lego design??). My 5 YO likes to make imaginary battles e.g. Marvel vs Star Wars or good vs evil etc.. with his mini figures.

My DDs have always loved lego. Duplo as Toddlers, then moving onto the proper sets. YoungerDD likes taking the instructions as she is building and altering them slightly to match her own imagination, or combining sets together. Elder DD prefers following instructions, but loves free reign on the general box of bricks too.

We often have building challenges as well... we each take turn choosing an item to build, then judge who did it best.

Purplestorm83 · 18/08/2022 22:57

My two daughters both love Lego, they spend hours playing together and have created some really elaborate creations such as a rescue centre for all their different Lego animals (including tigers, dinosaurs and a three-headed dog!).

We are all Lego fans in my family. We used our wedding present vouchers to buy a Lego VW camper van. My son spent this morning making a “90” inspired by the staff of our local Lego shop who told us the stories behind their own “90.” We love it.

My son most recently designed a little trailer to go on the back of the caravan from the lego city set. It looks so exactly like the style of the caravan that I forgot he had designed it and thought it was part of the set.

Miralice · 19/08/2022 09:58

My daughters most recent creation is her "animal sanctuary". Even though she is 7, she still loves lego duplo and spends hours buildingand then playing with her creations :-).

My ds10 has made me a phone holder as he thinks it might give my arms a rest from holding it😂

Custom made from bits n bobs, it has the Mandolorian and baby yoda guarding so my phone should be safe…

Love seeing everyones creations. My son is only 2, so Duplo is his thing. He's mostly into tower building, but will also occasionally build creations with his Daddy with Lego.
Daddy loves lego and they enjoy that time just listening to music, chatting and building something together. Lego is a big deal in our house! It brings us all together!

Asuwere · 19/08/2022 13:28

DS is a huge Lego fan; he makes lots of different kinds of vehicles and obstacle courses for them to drive around. He especially enjoys being able to have a big crash so everything comes apart and he can start building again :)

MumC2141 · 19/08/2022 18:06

All sorts. Usually based on their current favourite books/ TV programmes. Boats, cars, rooms etc with lots of added extras.

Stargirl84 · 19/08/2022 21:10

My five year old daughter has enjoyed watching the Commonwealth games diving and recently constructed this diving board from Duplo!

My kids have only just realised they can vary from the instructions! They're enjoying creating imaginative creatures.

skyeisthelimit · 20/08/2022 14:18

My daughter loved the Lego Friends sets when she was younger and was lucky enough to be given several sets (s/h) by a friend for her birthday one year . She used to create all sorts of new shops and buildings out them and really play with the characters and create stories etc.

Now she is a bit older, we still buy Lego, but have moved on to Harry Potter, Friends (tv show) and Stranger Things. It is something that we both like to do together.

BristolMum96 · 20/08/2022 18:44

My child loves to create worlds with LEGO hospital, fire station and police station. I think they love to mimic their normal world as much as a fantasy place

Luluissleeping · 20/08/2022 21:04

My son created this Lego model which is themed around Lego Minecraft. It is completely custom built and it took him a lot of effort to create it. It is called The Mountain. He has created a lot of Lego models; he has a big display of Lego Minecraft in his room.

My daughters love making a Lego horse stables and fields. Perfect for the Schleich horses for their training and exercise!

LegoLove · 20/08/2022 22:26

All kinds of things! Mostly vehicles or Mechs for Ninjago or Star Wars, sometimes things he sees on Lego programmes that haven’t yet been released as sets, sometimes things from his own imagination. He loves and lives Lego!
