any stories how you dealt with it more so what should be written in regards to danger awareness as they havent added this at all concerns me as if they have day trip who will keep an eye on him etc
also what should be there in regards to autism and how people managed to get this changed right words etc?
im doing ok ive highlighted all areas they have described his needs and it is really downplayed
have seen that if going ms school it should be written with hrs for what they will be doing who with and if ta is trained in autism
should be understandable to all reading it and the more i read a-j makes no sense i have no clear picture of whats expected and i doubt anyone else will either

i'm just feeling quite lonely no one in rl understands or can offer me support or help

lingle · 14/05/2009 09:47

just a quick hello and virtual cup of tea - sorry you are having to go through all this. It may be me next year and it's clearly tough.

bubblagirl · 14/05/2009 09:52

well i have some help sheets on how to thoroughly check your statement so if you want one let me know and you can put it by until needed

its tough they have played down his needs big time he has no settling time with anyone he struggles with new routines and needs preparation and 1-1 to help nothing mentioned

so they expect a 4 yr old autistic child with social communication disorder atypical speech sensory issues no danger awareness to go in with no 1-1 support, no SALT time no specific help set out have put here on one of the other pages if anyone can read through a-j and tell me if they know what it means that would be great as i sure as hell have no idea and would think neither would anyone else reading it

driving me mad [is it too early for anything stronger lol]

well just bumped into girl i know who has son with autism at same school im sending bubbla boy practically same needs bubbla boy slightly worse due to age

Phoenix4725 · 15/05/2009 12:37

yep worth making sure that maybe add a bit in away from school premises bubbleboy will need a 1-1 at all time

is it worth calling youe salt see how much input she would reccomend, not sur ehow good crappy your salt is

also insist that there trained if bubblaboy uses pecs taht anyone working with him done the 2 day course atleast .

following with great intrest as 21st ours is due out and there going take to then i so know it

bubblagirl · 15/05/2009 13:16

goodness and to think when i first started thread i was getting well dones lol just goes to show if your not 100% sure on statement you could easily sign the statement thinking you have a good deal lol its not worthy of anything how it stands

BBgirl - what a nightmare
We asked the nursery head about getting a statement for DS and, although she's very nice, she basically said not to bother because we'd have a very hard time proving he needs more than EarlyActionPlus (which he's on at the moment).
Nightmare nightmare nightmare. But you carry on fighting BBgirl!!!!

Phoenix4725 · 15/05/2009 16:09

would rethink sc13 the specialist hv told me oh ds wont need a statementhe does am about 2 weeks behind bubblagirl in dooing mind she also tolsd mewheelchair services wouldnot help us#

she was wrong on both accounts , so if you think ds will need one forschool ignore their advice

sc13 · 15/05/2009 16:12

Yes Phoenix - we are now seeing SENCO next week and will bring that up again. Mostly, I'm thinking of trying to get him into a school with special language unit, and without statement, forget it. I mean, I don't believe in this 'let's wait until he falls behind and then help him' attitude that they seem to have. DH almost sees it as a kind of compliment when they tell him DS doesn't need a statement - he has more faith in the system than I do

Phoenix4725 · 15/05/2009 16:14

ah dont know where you are but if you want place in language unit hereyou need statement ,we looked at one but as ds has GDD they wont take him

Phoenix4725 · 15/05/2009 16:15

they only have 22 places in total and wont take kids with any ld or asd basically wantkids that they can fix and return back to local schools

bubblagirl · 15/05/2009 16:39

thanks sc13 i would also second going for statement regardless
i was told with ds school would provide blah blah blah and then nearer time found they wouldnt and glad i went through with my gut instinct of wanting everything in writing i trust no one now

if its not in writing then your child doesn't need to receive it if you dont have statement of sn your child is ok and expected to be like all the other children

id rather something concrete and understandable so ds gets all the help he deserves its a struggle but when were done fighting i can then sit back and think it was all worth it i hope

xx

also do what you feel best and not what people advise you to do a lot of the time they want to take the cheaper route on false promises of what they will offer and i know first hand you don't get it on a promise

it has to be whats best for your child not what they think is best so id go the statement route its concrete then

bubblagirl · 17/05/2009 13:08

lol yeah maybe lets hope you wont its been an emotional draining week but i have given loads of evidence to support my claims and sending it all back at once to hope that they will just see to it and bypass appeal meeting if not i know ive got enough to go on anyway but hate meetings hate talking to people that you know will try to break you down lol

lets hope they will just say we'll deal with it straight away lol good luck let me know when items arrive and let me know when your statement does too xx
