Missed you all. Been a bit distracted by life (you know how it is!) but back now. And shall we organise a meet-up? How is June looking for everybody?

i reckon i should make us all laminated badges so we look like we are on an outing !!!! Tee Hee!!! Jolly Oh!

MrsBeThankful · 04/04/2005 20:44

my dh is a boring sod....he'd never 'waste' a weekend doing anything but effing golf.....but ME....well i cannot wait.....i would find it a struggle bringing all 3 boys....but feel that to bring 1 or 2 wouldn't be fair....so i'll be the frazzled mum!!!
mind you where better to be struggling than within the our meetup!!!!
It's the train journey that i reckon will be the problem....and my kids (partuicularily) leigh- will find sitting still to eat VERY hard.... so if i need them to stay seated...ther'll be playing gameboys ...you will recognise us immediately!!!

coppertop · 04/04/2005 20:48

And as I discovered this week, ds2 will be unmissable too. Ds1 will be the boy with his hood up no matter what the weather.

MrsBeThankful · 04/04/2005 20:59

leigh wore his hoods up till he was about 7!!!!

coppertop · 04/04/2005 21:04

7?? Arrgghh! Only 2 and a bit more years to go then..... If ds1 is miraculously hoodless then just look for the boy with the incredible folding ears.

I wonder if Brighton knows what it's letting itself in for....

coppertop · 05/04/2005 18:54

Does anybody have a suggestion for when it will be? I've been looking into the journey and it will be a bit of a nightmare tbh. We have to get a train to Kings Cross, get the Tube to Victoria and then the train from there to Brighton. It should take about 2.5hrs which means we may need to stay overnight to make it worthwhile going IYSWIM. A SuperAdvance return will cost me and dh £80 each so I'm hoping we may get a better deal with an APEX ticket. If not then we may possibly need to give it a miss or possibly it would be just me going. I could probably manage okay with ds1 and ds2 on the train but I suspect the Tube would be a nightmare.

coppertop · 05/04/2005 18:57

A cheaper option would be to somehow get a lift to Bedford and then get the direct train to Brighton but I'm not exactly holding my breath tbh. Our families aren't exactly known for being particularly helpful.

MrsBeThankful · 05/04/2005 19:58

CT- if you stay overnight- then i want to aswell!!! We could have a midnight feast....!

Ouch! That sounds expensive.......i have't looked into my travel costs....but i reckon i'll be looking at £40

coppertop · 05/04/2005 22:34

I checked ours on the rail enquiries office but obviously didn't have an exact date to put in the boxes but £80 is the cheapest option apparently. That covers a train from here to London, the Tube and then the train from London to Brighton.

It'd be brilliant if this all worked out and we got to stay overnight at the same place, MrsF. We'd probably still be chattering away by the next morning and swapping laminator tips.

coppertop · 05/04/2005 22:35

I mean I checked on the rail enquiries site.

MrsBeThankful · 05/04/2005 23:02

....and BH and chocs.......

JakB · 06/04/2005 07:51

OmG! That is SO expensive. I'm sure you can get cheap deals if you book in advance. My mum often comes from Wigan for £40 return so there must be something. But listen, is this just too much? Is London a more realistic option? Cheaper for everybody to get there? If we did a Sat, would dhs/dps/family be able to have the kids? (I'm thinking large G&Ts all round)

JakB, is your mum one of Wigan's Chosen Few?
I've been lurking to see what is decided...... well????

bambi06 · 06/04/2005 10:25

count me in , with my two darlings and poss hubby if they`re included? will it be weekday or weekend?

heartinthecountry · 06/04/2005 10:27

I am up for a Saturday minus dd/dh plus a Large Gin - don't care where it is!!

Hmm - CT where are you travelling from? Just wondering if there is anywhere else that is centralish and easyish for everyone. MrsF - you are in the West Country right? BH - Surrey? Choccy - Lutonish? Will get the map out.

coppertop · 06/04/2005 10:29

I'm in Cambs.

Blossomhill · 06/04/2005 11:47

Sounds great HITC - I am up for that!!!!

Jayzmummy · 06/04/2005 12:12

Was having a thought....ouch!...dangerous at the moment me thinking.....

I live in the SW.....would have to pass Mrs F's place to travel up the A361...we live on the same road can you believe it....so how about I drive up to you Mrs F...pick you up....then head down to Cambs and pick up CT...and drive us down to Brighton. I have an MPV so can fit 6 others in the car....anyone else on route is more than welcome to jump aboard.....BUT I would need an overnight stay....couldnt possibly drive both ways in a day!!!!!! We could share diesel expenses which will be far cheaper for everyone than train fares.....that means more money for drinkypoo's......what do think??????

It would be a Mums Net charabang....only those with laminators allowed though!!!!!!

coppertop · 06/04/2005 12:19

Oooh! That sounds a lot more do-able. I'll have to check with dh though. He's bound to think it's part of a devious plan to abduct me.

Jayzmummy · 06/04/2005 12:29

Maybe we are CT.....we will take you off to the land of laminators...never to return!!!!!!!

TheRealMrsF · 06/04/2005 12:33

oh...i jabve had a real laugh at this!!! Yes J that sounds great!!!

But i'm happy to do london too!!!

coppertop · 06/04/2005 13:11

The Land of Laminators, with Pouch trees and velcro lakes.... Bliss!

London should be do-able for me too if we're still doing it on a weekend (ooer!). Day returns on the train are only about £20ish I think.

MrsF will be the one singing

"The laminator pouches go squish squish squish,
Squish squish squish,
squish squish squish.
The laminator pouches go squish squish squish
All day long!"
