Missed you all. Been a bit distracted by life (you know how it is!) but back now. And shall we organise a meet-up? How is June looking for everybody?

OOOOH! bh too!!!

Blossomhill · 02/04/2005 22:33

If I went to Brighton I'd have to stay overnight though to be worth it!

coppertop · 02/04/2005 23:08

It'd probably be best for me to stay overnight too if I can go. Any ideas about dates yet so that dh can find out about getting time off (if in term-time)?

MABS · 03/04/2005 15:18

ok for me to come to? I live v near to Brighton and have a son with Cerebral Palsy, actually you prob all knew that!? Am off to Muscat tonite on holiday tho so will catch up with the thread in a couple of weeks.

InternationalGirl · 03/04/2005 15:56

Yes - we've been planning the big move - been lurking a bit but not saying too much on MN. Of course, I will continue to keep in touch from afar just won't be able to come to the meetups - unless we come back to London - which could happen - you never know!!

Meetup in Brighton sounds like a fantastic adventure!! And it might mean some folks who usually can't come will - YAY! As long as its before the end of June and I have plenty of notice I should be able to come - 95% certain.

Next ?? is when and where. I know my DH and kids would love to check out Brighton but don't know whether I should bring 'em really. Depends on what others want to do and whether we meet during the week or on the weekend.

RnB and JakB - you probably know Brighton best - where should we meet? Is there somewhere we could do a big picnic or a community centre we could hire out for the day? Would have to be near(ish) to the train. Or do we just want to find a restaurant and kick back and let someone else do all the cooking and cleaning? I don't know - these are all just suggestions - anyone have any ideas?

coppertop · 03/04/2005 18:18

My dh has said he wants to come too so it may well be all 4 members of the Coppertop clan who turn up. I think he's just trying to make sure that you're not all bearded truckers with an unusually good understanding of SN!

MrsBeThankful · 03/04/2005 20:45

this could be bril for me as a train goes straight through from where i live to brighton....hope i can come on the day chosen....is there a date yet???

MrsBeThankful · 03/04/2005 20:47

CT- tell your DH that i will bring my lunch in one of my 'Really Useful Boxes'.........and if kids are coming then might make a family outing of it!!!

coppertop · 03/04/2005 21:27

Ooooh! You've given me a great idea, MrsF! I shall tell dh that he's far more likely to find a supply of Really Useful Boxes in Brighton than he will find round here. He'll be booking the train tickets in no time.

JakB · 04/04/2005 08:29

This sounds like a GREAT idea! I know instantly of a resturant we can take over- the one I'm going to do my little toddler group in. So are we saying mumsnetters AND FAMILIES?!!!!!
OMG!

Anyone travelling through avon/wilshire wanna share my train carriage....????

MrsBeThankful · 04/04/2005 10:36

oops....Wiltshire....and somerset....and any where else on the line to brighton!!!

Blossomhill · 04/04/2005 10:59

I have to say dh would not be up for meeting. He's so weird like that, sorry!

Blossomhill · 04/04/2005 10:59

I am though

coppertop · 04/04/2005 11:13

Dh started off with "But what do you want to go all the way to Brighton for??" and being a general pain in the @rse. Next thing I know he's skulking over to say, "I want to come too. We could all go." This is in between wittering on about how he dislikes leaving the house empty. Grrr! Anyone know which train company we need to get to Brighton?

heartinthecountry · 04/04/2005 11:27

BH - don't think my dh would come either but I would love to and would probably bring dd.

Blossomhill · 04/04/2005 11:28

HITC - dh def. wouldn't come and tbh is not very happy for me to as he cannot for the life of him understand why I would want to!

Jayzmummy · 04/04/2005 11:31

Awwwww I wanna come tooooooooo!!!!!!!
Brighton is just that little bit to far for me to drive in one day...just looked on the map and its the other side of the country!!!!So it would take me about 5 hours to get there!!!!
I have nver taken J on a train....wonder what he would be like????????

coppertop · 04/04/2005 11:31

BH - Your dh sounds like mine - which is why I was so shocked when he said he wanted to come too. When I've mentioned meet-ups in the past all I usually hear is " ...but I don't get why you have to go and meet people... they could be anyone " Grrr!

Dingle · 04/04/2005 11:33

lurk....lurk...

Jayzmummy · 04/04/2005 11:39

Jumping in on thread ....sorry.

Dingle....we live not far from Wellington....fancy meeting up when you come down...we could talk cards to our hearts content?????

Dingle · 04/04/2005 11:44

Not really familiar with the area AT ALL. Haven't been down that way far donkeys years. Perhaps you could fill me in on some places to visit that would be SN child friendly...(and some good craft shops!)
...and yes, perhaps we could meet up somewhere.

Jayzmummy · 04/04/2005 11:55

Will mail you

InternationalGirl · 04/04/2005 14:37

JakB - a restaurant we can take over - fantastic! How far is it from the train stop?

Looks like we have BIG interest for families... (if they WANT to come). Guess that means we should make it on a weekend then - Saturday or Sunday better for everyone? Term time or holidays?

This could be fun !

coppertop · 04/04/2005 14:57

A Saturday would probably be best for us as it means not having to beg dh's boss for the day off. Trains are usually useless on a Sunday because of the engineering works etc. If it's during the week and in the holidays I may still be able to make it. If all else fails I can bring the ds'es and leave dh behind to go to work.
