DLA badges and "certain" people.

DH took DS and a friend to the park this afternoon, he parked in a disabled bay (DS is ASD and has a blue badge).

When he returned a lady was taking pictures of our car and others so he asked her what she was doing.

she said "im sending these off to the council, they will want to see the photograph on your badge you know".

DH told her to send it off then as he had nothing to worry about, she asked him why and he told her he has 2 children with disabilites both with blue badges, he said she looked at DS and at him and tutted and walked off.

The cheek!!!!

whoah! that is outrageous. We've had the funny looks from old people when we use dd's blue badge and I am just waiting for the first comment..

yeh i got a funny look last week, we were loading our shopping in the car park and an elderly couple parked next to us, the man stared at me, i stared back, he got out of his car and then made a point of staring in the windescreen to see if we had a blue badge, so i shot him a look and he walked off.

We often get strange looks, mostly from people of an older age.

However I must admit to progressly getting more precious and annoyed at the misuse of disabled parking spaces.

It is not unknown of me to challenge people using it without displaying a badge, especially on stress full days.

It is only a matter of time before I shoot my mouth off and make a fool of my self, with a blue badge being displayed but me missing it

this really annoys me too...

I was in meadowhall the other day and checked the cars lined up in the disabled spaces - and at least three quarters of them DID NOT have a badge on display! GRRRR

Sports cars, 4x4's, loads of cars which were totally unsuitable for the use of disabled (to high, too small, etc) And it made my blood boil because the spaces were all taken... how many disabled people and carers had to struggle because of ignorant lazy-arsed people??? GRRR

A few years ago we parked in a disabled bay at the supermarket, while i was getting out a souped up golf with a boom boom stereo screeched to a halt in the end disabled bay so he could go to the cash machine I said "right" my sister said "dont you dare" I said "watch me" I went and asked him why he was parked there.. he said he wasnt parked his engine was running i said his car was in the white lines so he was parked... he told me to go and hassle someone else,,, i said no im hassling you... when i had finished and went back to the car i couldnt see my sister who was hiding under the steering wheel!!!

I had an old lady almost walk into a pole as she was trying to see our disabled parking badge. We had no end of trouble at the start of school with people parking in designated disabled spaces - including a bus from a childcare centre who then denied it!!! I have put on lovely notes pointing out that this is a disable space and could you please respect that there are children with disabilities who attend this school and in future park elsewhere.

There is a woman who every afternoon when I get dh from the train - she reverses her 'chelsea' tractor into a disabled space and sits there waiting for her dh to come from the train. I have never ever ever seen her park anywhere else. I keep forgetting to take my phone to take a photo and get her shamed in the local paper. I am waiting for a time I don't have the dds with me and so can speak with her or ask the railway employee what the go is.

My dad has a blue badge. he drives but on bad days i act as his driver.

we went into town one day with me driving, we got out and went round town, our ASDA is just the other side of teh town so rather than put his mobility scooter back in the car (its a real pain) he and my mum just walked through to teh store while i bought the car round.

Obviously i parked in the disabled bay as he would need it for when we put the scooter back in.

the car next to me was a PORSCHE top down, music blairing.
the little blonde sitting in teh driver seat actually had the cheek to inform me that this was a disabled bay and did i have a badge.
I said yes actually i do, do you?
now i was shocked already but this was just jaw dropping..she said "no i don't need one. My brother is the ticket inspector"

How i resisted teh urge to stripe the car when she got out i will never know.

I think most OAP's think that disabled spaces are for the elderly!

I have just got my application for a blue badge as DS is 2yrs - but I will 'try' to curb my anger when approached or glared at ... and if I can't god help them

why can't a disabled person drive a sports car?

dh wanted to ghet a sports car with his mobility payments, but had to get a family friendly car instead. he was a bit gutted lol.

i have said he can get one when he has a mid life crisis.

ds2 asked if we can get a 6 seater ferrari for the next motability car

heheh lou. he'd have to design it himself.

dh did suggest strapping the kids to the parcel rack on the back with bungee cords lol.

unsuitable cars for the disabled is a bit odd

ds2 would love that , he keeps asking my friend to put him in the boot of his porsche and take him for a drive!

just checked you can get land rovers on motobility scheme. plus laods of other spiorty cars and big venchiles

huge advane payments though a lot of them.

you can get most cars really cant you? like you said it just depends on the payment you can put down (tightarse here)

i have a renault grand scenic, but only because there was a special offer on the down payment (which my sister paid for me)

lol ds2 would have his dreams come true if there was such a thing

i dread to think what the downpayment would be though

oh riven, ds2 is 7 ffs, whats wrong with him saying he wants a ferrari?
