I don't get uc but the lady on the phone today said about claiming carers allowance, I'll have too look into that not sure if I'm entitled or not xx

Circlesroundandround · 03/06/2025 19:13

Does anyone know what cases typically would be referred to the medical team? I sent our forms back in February. I noted and evidenced a lot of my daughter’s care needs but her condition is quite rare, about 5000
in the uk. It is not listed in the DM guide. I am
wondering if our case will be be sent to the medical team. I did send a number of her medical reports from Great Ormond Street.

I am guessing it will be the full 25 weeks for us if it is the case although I am trying to not be negative.

I was going over everything I was thinking did I put enough. Thinking it’s definitely going to be declined or be given lrc which I knew she was entitled to more but because she masks I lacked evidence from the school. So stressful

i’m not too sure, i think if they can find symptoms from other conditions they’ll know more if that makes sense? my boy is 1 of 250 in the world and it wasn’t sent to the medical team when we first applied x

Thank you. This is helpful and makes sense. I guess there are a number of other conditions in combination that could be used for symptom comparison. You never know we might be lucky and not wait 25 weeks or more!!

I posted on here the other day asking how to find out my SD. I was too busy to phone in the proceeding days and then this morning I got a text saying that DS qualifies for DLA.

Obviously I phoned for further information. We've been awarded LR Mobility and MR care. It's backdated to 8th January. It was a new claim

So I still don't know what the scan date was but hopefully this post will give someone an idea of how long they need to wait.

My husband is only able to work during school hours because DS is unsuitable for after school clubs, etc, so this will make a massive difference. We'll be getting extra from UC too. I'm a full time student and still trying to work nearly full time hours. I sobbed with relief after speaking to the DWP today. What a difference this will make!

I hope everyone else gets the news they're hoping for soon.

Hi, looking for some advice or reassurance. My daughter is 6 and has suspected ASD and ADHD. She has her ASD assessment at the end of June. I called DLA today, they said a letter had been sent to the school for more information. While this is ok. The school have not been on board with this. They said they don’t see what we do, but could be masking . Exactly the same as my eldest . It took them 4 years to listen to me that she had serious issues. She was finally diagnosed last year! Why is everything a fight all the time!! Will we be declined if school say differently?
SD 29/01/2025
I’m also diagnosed with the above .

Stressed Mummy.

I am kind of in the same boat. I’m not really sure how they decide.
Some people appear to be getting awarded without the diagnosis as it’s down to individual needs isn’t it, although it can be difficult to prove their needs (especially when masking throughout the day)
I suppose it depends on your other evidence, what did you send in with your application? Any GP, consultant letters, and prescriptions etc?
school can only say what they see but I’m sure they’ll mention any difficulties that you’ve maybe spoken about, attendance/lateness etc. hopefully you get a response soon from Jan

it is such a worry isn’t it.
ive had to reduce my hours by half since starting school so we’re really struggling now and have nothing left to keep going and be able to get equipment for my child. They are also not able to attend after school clubs etc and the lack of support and money is just too much for a lot of families isn’t it. Well done on qualifying, did you send a lot of evidence?

PiousBitch · 03/06/2025 20:58

@4LittleFirecrackers

We sent a diagnosis letter and the school filled in a section of the form, which I think helped. I basically used every available space on the form to hammer home just how hard life can be for us.

I really hope you get a result sooner rather than later.

Crescentmoon2222 · 03/06/2025 23:42

Hi, I Haven’t sent any in just the form this time. Statement from me and her dad.I thought her assessment would have been done by now. But it kept getting cancelled. I guess I may have to wait for that to be done then appeal, if it’s declined. Which I think it will be.

Did you send evidence in?

Hopefully it’s not too long a wait for both of us now.

NC SD 24/02/2025

MRC awarded for my DS
He is only 3 so I was doubting whether he would receive anything but so unbelievably relieved his needs have been recognised. I called last Wednesday to inform them of a COC and was advised I still had time to send in additional evidence, which I sent on 2/6/25 but I’m assuming a decision was already made by the time they even received it.
I had sent it quite a lot of evidence including
school one page profile
support worker letter
OT letter
Sleep diary
Enhanced play report
SALT report
Social communication tool
SOGS by Health Visitor
Paeds report
Paeds Asthma report
Day care support letter
EP report

14 weeks 2 days from SD to payment date

Good luck to everyone still waiting
