Have you tried feeding him more? (When DS2 was failure to thrive)

Is it because you're short? (Someone thought me being 5ft 1in and DS2 being failure to thrive were linked)

Are you sure he's 14 months?, He looks about 6 months to me (I know how old he is, I was there, even though I was on a lot of gas and air!)

He's not that disabled, I've got children on my books who have hoists you know (the social worker when DS2 was about 15 months old)

DS1 is a handful, you should go on a parenting course (the social worker. I didn't know the polite way of saying "no, he just hates you")

He really should be out of nappies by now (said by a lot of people about DS1 from 2.5 onwards)

He's not daft is he? (about DS2)

Ooh look, he's talking to me. Is he normal now? (old lady talking about DS2)

Are they non identical twins or identical twins? (said by loads of people and not sn but had to put it in because it's just daft)

that my Asperger son's VERY challenging behaviour was 'because you created a democracy not an autocracy in your house' - smug friend with two VERY well behaved NT sons (who, to my shame is still my friend despite several put downs of the have you tried... kind)

smugtandemfeeder · 14/11/2010 10:17

Said yesterday by a very good friend

"Wouldn't it be good if you could just have girls'

Umm so do you mean that I would have decided not to have DS? That I wouldnt want any more children if they were going to be like DS? That girls cant have ASDs? Hmmmmmm Confused

ilovesprouts · 14/11/2010 16:47

my ds2 is non verbal ,and i always get asked if hes mute !!

Smug, shame you couldn't have shown your friend ds's class photo from a couple of years ago when he was still in the ASD unit. He was the only boy! I fear times are changing re: the boy/girl ratio.

Sorry that seems awful now I read it back, like it was better when it was just boys! Not what I meant at all.
