Hi everyone! Lost 3lb this week. Very pleased and hoping I can keep up the momentum. @DontFundHate I will be interested to hear how you get on. I’ve resisted the low cal spray and I’m sticking to small amounts of olive oil. I’m trying to keep sweetener and sugar to a minimum but I have such a sweet tooth. I did buy meringue nests today just to have something sweet. Hope everyone has had a good day.

DontFundHate · 04/05/2019 21:04

Well done @mummyonthemove that's fantastic.

Oh wow nice to hear someone doing the same. I'm hoping that if I do it this way it's really more of a "healthy eating plan" than a diet, so hoping I will form better habits once I reach my goal, rather than reaching my goal and using oil and yogurt etc again and putting weight back on! I also have a very sweet tooth. It drives me mad. I'm hoping that after eating a mountain of sugar over Easter that I'll have made myself sick of it!

Groovee · 04/05/2019 21:26

Hi everyone

Been quiet as I am overwhelmingly tired. Did go to Glamis Castle to have high tea with Dd as she got me a voucher for my birthday. It was amazing. Had braised beef with veggies and potato. Then Scones and cakes. So I have flexi synned. I'm in target so hey ho.

Welcome everyone who is joining us.

That sounds lovely @groovee

I've decided, I'll start tomorrow. Fingers crossed. I'm very daunted. First time going it "alone", have always joined online and my aunty dieted with me too. This time it feels like it's just me and I'm worried I'll fail as I'm not really accountable to anyone irl. Can't join online this time as technically am within a healthy BMI. But I'm so unhappy with my weight and how I look. Struggling to get past the unhappiness and into motivation. think I'll go to the shops tomorrow to stock up on some SW stuff and the magazine

Sorry for the moan!

ClashCityRocker · 04/05/2019 21:36

I mostly use my syns for cooking (and wine). I can't get on with frylite (or fryshite as my husband calls it) but find I use a lot less oil if I have it in a sprayer - although I don't have that much pan-fried anyway when doing sw - mostly just eggs and I prefer those poached.

My downfall has always been crappy convenience food - pizzas, takeaways, those microwave burgers that have probably never seen a cow, and then at the weekend I'm in the mood for cooking, over-elaborate dishes containing lots of cream, cheese and deep fried elements 😳 so no middle ground for me!

Slimming world works for me as it forces me to cook and eat a lot more 'normally'... And actually there is something really satisfying about spending half an hour cooking a relatively simple but tasty tea. Going to try and build up my repertoire of tasty, healthy meals. I think last time I wasn't brave enough with trying new things and got stuck in a bit of a rut..

ClashCityRocker · 04/05/2019 21:41

dontfundhate I joined on my own too, and was similarly nervous. Everyone at group was friendly enough though and I found in some ways I felt more accountable - there's something about the thought of standing on a scale in front of a relative stranger (even though they were always lovely whether I'd lost, gained or maintained).

ClashCityRocker · 04/05/2019 21:42

Ah sorry just realised you might not be going to group!

Keep posting here, I'm sure we can help you feel accountable!

DontFundHate · 04/05/2019 21:43

Hello @clash I'm definitely all or nothing too. The SW cookbooks are very good, especially takeaways (except cauli pizza...)

I never thought of getting a spray for normal oil. I've just seen a rapeseed oil spray, it's 2kcal per spray? I guess I could syn it? 5 sprays = 10kcal = half a syn?

DontFundHate · 04/05/2019 21:44

*fakeaways

ExpletiveDelighted · 04/05/2019 21:47

Hello, I was on these threads a couple of years ago under a different name. I gave up on SW after a year or so because none of the local groups were at good times for me and I was dashing in, weighing and dashing off to work, I started to resent paying £5 a week for this. I also didn't like the leader Blush. There is a new group here now with a new leader and it is at a better time so I'm going to re-join, hopefully this week. My big weaknesses are bread and crisps.

ExpletiveDelighted · 04/05/2019 21:50

WRT oil sprays, I hate Frylight too, but use Sainsburys Olive oil spray which is 2 cals/spray.

DontFundHate · 04/05/2019 21:55

@ExpletiveDelighted good luck! How will you syn the oil please?

Thank you @clash I hope I'll make myself accountable here! Maybe someone can tag me once in a while if I don't come back?! I need someone to be checking on me!! I'll post tomorrow with my official weight and will weigh in on Sundays. I have a holiday coming up so that's pretty motivating too I hope!

ExpletiveDelighted · 04/05/2019 22:26

I'm not sure about syning the oil, I will need to work that out.

DontFundHate · 05/05/2019 05:59

Right im starting today. I weigh 10 stone exactly.

I've measured out my milk. I'll have banana for breakfast. And syn free pasta for tea. I haven't planned lunch as I don't know what our plans are today yet but I have 15 syns plus healthy extra b to play with so hope it will be ok! Relying heavily on my memory of the plan today!

I'm also planning to look into exercising more soon, currently I don't do anything except run after DSs. What do you all do?

Groovee · 05/05/2019 07:58

Tesco sell a spray virgin oil that is half a syn for 5 sprays. My friend raves about it, but oil triggers my reflux 😢

strangerthongs · 05/05/2019 08:39

2lbs lost this week.

2 more to go to get to 4 stone. getting impatient now!

mummyonthemove · 05/05/2019 10:59

@strangerthongs that is amazing. Well done! Are you close to target weight now? As someone who is just at the beginning and only 4lb down that gives me hope 😃

strangerthongs · 05/05/2019 11:21

yes I'm close to my target weight (12 stone) although I'm going to adjust it to an extra half a stone (11 1/2 stone). As long as I don't go above my original target weight I'll be happy so it will allow for a bit of flexibility for the likes of holiday pigging out and make it easier to maintain I think.

Stick with it! I never thought I'd lose more than 1 stone and even that I thought would be difficult to get to.

My first 2 stone came off really easily but then it started to slow down and take longer. I introduced exercise after the 2 stone mark so just keep that in mind as an option for you if you feel your loss is slowing down.

Also I don't stick 100% to the plan. I do the HEs, the SW chips and the lean meat and the syn allowance, but I dont eat as much fruit and veg as it recommends. Oh and I don't go to class. Can't abide the clappy clap clap shite of it. I do it online, as well as following people on instagram and joining FB groups.

DontFundHate · 05/05/2019 14:12

Hello! Can anyone tell me the syns for the new m and s cafe hot smoked salmon, prawn and potato salad with dill dressing please? Thanks

Groovee · 05/05/2019 15:03

@strangerthongs well done.

@DontFundHate I can't find it on online syns x

OwlinaTree · 05/05/2019 17:26

Well done on your losses mummy and stranger.

I've had a bit of a lapse, visited friends yesterday so the booze was flowing and we had enchiladas and cheesecake! Had a fry up this am, but grilled. I'm guessing this is all my syns for today!

Despite big hangover, stuck to a jacket with veggie chilli for lunch. Don't know about dinner yet, trying not to succumb to a take away.

mummyonthemove · 05/05/2019 22:05

@strangerthongs I’m also going it alone. I can’t cope with the classes. I’ve started followed the Pinch of nom and a couple of other groups on Facebook. If you have any good recommendations I’d be very grateful.

FiveNightsAtMummys · 05/05/2019 23:10

I'm dreading weigh in. I've been 100% but my ibs is terrible and I'm so bloated. Drinking lots of herbal tea and water and keeping to safe foods. I'm so stressed about target so thats probably making things worse.

Groovee · 06/05/2019 08:08

@FiveNightsAtMummys I found that. Actually getting to target took what felt like forever then the next journey started. You want it so much but your body doesn't co-operate.
