Today has gone well so far, I’ve used 14 syns so far out of 20 so all good there. Off to work at 8 until midnight so no snacking there and will probably go to bed not long after I get home

Groovee · 30/04/2019 18:36

Well done @FiveNightsAtMummys

I gained half a pound. Totm so most likely off next week.

Well done Fivenights. That's amazing.

Sorry Groovee, must have missed where you said you didn't have it done.

GOT was awesome Owlina, Aria was bloody amzing!

OwlinaTree · 30/04/2019 21:26

Well done fivenights!

Bad luck groovee. I had a gain, 2lb on, but I'm alright about that as have had a week away and a week off work.

Welcome new folk!

FiveNightsAtMummys · 01/05/2019 00:37

Thanks all! Welcome to newcomers!

RenaissenceBelle · 01/05/2019 21:31

Went to group today and had lost 2lbs... not bad but i was hoping for better :-( being first week and all. Has anyone tried just eating free food and healthy extras and trying to avoid syns? I'm thinking that might work better for me... when i start to delve into syns everything goes haywire for me, better if i don't even have them. but is this going to be sustainable? I'm sure i would have some of the syns (like a little oil here and there etc) also I did find the group a little intimidating, having to speak up about how your week had gone etc... any tips on this one too? Thanks all!

AnnieDianaLulu · 01/05/2019 21:56

@RenaissenceBelle - when I went to SW before, I didn't use my Syns. I lost weight, but when I rejoined, I lost the exact same, in the same time frame, eating my Syns. I left both times, after a 3 stone loss, so I guess I'm not the best example Grin I'm back again now, planning to use them if I want (I'm allowed up to 25).

Personally, for me, it didn't make a huge difference. If I went over, it then obviously did, but if you're within those 15 (or more, if you're allowed them) I'm not sure it will make a huge difference? But I'm only saying that from personal experience, it could be different for everyone.

No tips on the group thing. I hate that. I suppose if you kind of just answer the questions quickly and don't add loads to it, they usually move on from you quite quickly? That's what I have noticed in the group I just signed up in. I can't talk about the time before, as they kind of had me and my mum as a pair and I was able to just say I did the same as her and they left me alone Grin

OwlinaTree · 01/05/2019 22:22

belle I think I lost 1.5lb my first week, and I was disappointed. But I lost 3.5lb the second week. So stick with it.

Groovee · 02/05/2019 05:32

@RenaissenceBelle well done, keep going. All those amounts soon add up. If you don't want to talk in group your consultant can skip over you if you ask them to.

My friend uses her syns within meals rather than on crisps etc. Syns are part of the plan to make it balanced so use them. So for example bang bang chicken from slimming eats is about 2.5 syns because of the sauces and cheese, so you could do that instead.

I also recommend reading up on the whoosh effect.

Thanks all for helpful responses. I didn't mind speaking in group really, just took me by surprise cos I wasn't expecting it! Been to WW before and they didn't go round the group there . I like the way ppl chip in with helpful advice from all round the room though. ours in quite a big group too, over 35 ppl I reckon.

ALemonyPea · 02/05/2019 10:01

2.5lb off for me this week, really pleased and feel I've finally turned that annoying Thursday treat corner.

I wouldn't recommend skipping syns long term, as you're only depriving yourself and a small amount of something you fancy is better than a massive binge. You should be having at least 5 a day. If you don't want to use them on treats, I often use mine on oil for cooking as hate fry light.

Iwanttorunandhide · 02/05/2019 11:01

Just weighed myself after my first week and haven’t lost a single, solitary ounce! What am I doing wrong? I’ve followed everything perfectly. I haven’t had all my Syns each day because I didn’t need them. The only other thing I’ve done is skip the dairy healthy extra as I’m allergic to milk. I’ve had some coconut based yogurt but I’ve always counted it as Syns. Is it normal to not lose anything after the first week?

WillowUfgood · 02/05/2019 14:04

5 days SP (2EE) and only 1.5 loss. Sometimes wonder why I bother trying with SP these days >< Hoping it's going to roll over into next week for a slightly better loss but I guess we'll see (gained 3 last week so really was hoping to get that off!).

FiveNightsAtMummys · 02/05/2019 16:27

It might roll over willow, keep going.

As for syns I've tested it with myself and it makes no difference weather I have none or have all 15 I got the same loss. I've only used 3 syns Tues and wed..but I know I'll end up using 15 at the weekend as that's my weakness! I don't measure my milk either unless I'm having a latte then I do. Always measure cheese tho.

WillowUfgood · 02/05/2019 18:06

Thanks FiveNights, not going to let it annoy me too much.

Back on EE I think this week, but there'll be some SP-ish days thrown in with little-to-no Carbs. Fingers crossed.

ALemonyPea · 02/05/2019 20:05

Iwantorunandhide, I've seen it happen a few times, don't give up, it might well show next week. Are you doing it at home?

Willow, I never lose huge amounts when I do SP. I once did a whole week and lost, iirc, 2lb.

Iwanttorunandhide · 03/05/2019 09:10

Thanks ALemonyPea, I am doing it at home. If I don’t get a loss after week 2 I’ll know I’m definitely doing something wrong.

WillowUfgood · 03/05/2019 10:11

I think the most I've lost with SP is 4, maybe 4.5 and was really just hoping for 3 to reverse the previous week. Nevermind, it happens. Ended yesterday on 10.5 syns and 100% on plan, all food planned for today too. Got a big fat steak from Aldi, can't wait to get into that tonight!

edgen2019 · 03/05/2019 13:47

I want to run and hide - don't be disheartened keep on keeping on, at least you didn't gain any weight! I go to SW mainly because I need to be disciplined re weigh in, some weeks are positive and some weeks negative, I just carry on regardless.

mummyonthemove · 03/05/2019 18:37

Thank you for your explanation @FiveNightsAtMummys and congratulations on your loss. I’ve got weigh in day tomorrow and it’s been quite a good week so fingers crossed. Just made the crust less quiche and it was fab.

iklboo · 04/05/2019 08:28

Another 1.5 loss this week - 10.5 in total. That's a biggish sack of spuds. I can barely lift one of those let alone carry it round. Scary isn't it?

OrianaBanana · 04/05/2019 09:01

Well done iklboo!

I am not doing very well as I’m not dedicated enough. Half a pound off last week (after a 4.5lb Easter gain Blush) - I’m not sure why I’m not calling it a day, probably because it’s my only hope of not getting enormous! I really need to knuckle down.

ClashCityRocker · 04/05/2019 09:52

Hello everyone!

I rejoined on Thursday. I think I've gone through every single bloody alternative and came to the conclusion that as much as I hate the meetings, it's the only plan that works for me.

Lost nearly three stone last time, but back to where I started from now.

On the plus side, I had forgotten what nice breakfasts you can have on slimming world!

iklboo · 04/05/2019 11:28

I love you can have a full English on SW with just a few tweaks. Bacon medallions, SW sausages (or v low syn ones), eggs pretty much any way, beans or tomatoes, mushrooms, whole meal toast......even black pudding slices are only 2 syns.

Something to look forward to on an occasional weekend and so filling.

DontFundHate · 04/05/2019 19:27

Hello, can I join please? This will be my third time on SW. Lost weight after DS1 with SW, lost weight after DS2, then put some of it back on again.

I'm currently 10 stone and 5ft 6. I'd like to get to 8 stone 12, possibly lighter again but I haven't been lighter since I was 16! So we'll see!

This time round I'm keen to eat a diet of full fat yogurt, rapeseed oil etc which I will syn. Not done it this way before (last two times i used all low fat stuff, 1 cal spray, and used my syns on chocolate!) So I'm finding that a bit daunting. Don't know when to "start", I should start tomorrow but putting it off!

Anyway that's a little about me! Thanks ladies :)
