Starting the 2019 support thread for those on SW or those thinking of starting.

Let's introduce ourselves. I'm Groovee. In 2016 I was told to lose weight so I could have Gynae surgery. I joined SW in Jan 2017. Have lost 4.5st on SW 5.5st since 2016. Have been at target for 9 months now. Long may it continue being at target and staying there.

Have my new members pack and look forward to the challenges of 2019. I need to look for some new recipes.

well done boats. I'm having a can't get full day. Had porridge and a banana for breakfast, naked noodle pot (2 syns) a orange and pear for lunch and smoked haddock, sw chips, brocolli and carrots for tea. Had a pizza pinwheel but worked out syns to be 5/6 so counted it as 7.5 just incase plus my 2nd hea. Now just had greek yog and flake (2syns) a bit of grapefuit, a bit of watermelon and half a orange. Think i'll get some crab sticks, an oxo (i like to eat them as they are) and a couple of gallo biscuits and a cup of tea. (within syns but using all of them today)

Well done Boats

I like the 2 chubby cubs recipes but not the Facebook group. I wouldn't call myself a prude but some of the pictures and discussions are really disgusting. It's like the posters intentionally seek to disgust us. I want food and diet tips, not "funny" pictures of bestiality.

PON is okaaaay, the before and after pictures get a bit boring after a while

Slimming Eats is someone who moved to Canada and thus all the posters are canadian and the food recommended is too

Not really any great FB groups to be honest

Insta is full of SW "influencers" who have either lost far too much, or heavily promote certain foods/spices/horrible tasting chocolate / watery sauces / slimming pills as well as sometimes clothes brands.

Hard to find tips and advice that is genuine, unless you go to class, but that's not an option for everyone (I'm disabled)

boats16 · 25/01/2019 22:23

Thanks @ FiveNights and ALemony .I have treated myself to a Freddo with caramel, they,re sooooo yummy. My problem is I could eat the packet no problem. I mean they're sooooo small arent they lol Grin

boats16 · 25/01/2019 22:39

@ strangerthongs.I follow SW from home as I dont really fancy a group. I have learnt the basics from the SW magazines and talked to people following SW on this forum. Everyone is so helpful and willing to answer any questions. Doing this I lost 2 stone last year , I have put a stone back on after my holiday so am aiming to take it off before my holiday this year. It helps to have an incentive Smile

Well done boats

Woopwoop1 · 25/01/2019 22:47

Weighed on Wednesday and stayed the same 🙁

Are the naked noodles and rice nice? Is that syns per pack?

FiveNightsAtMummys · 25/01/2019 22:58

Woopwoop it was a pot like a pot noodle pot. I got the duck one it was 2 syns for the whole thing. I found it spicer than I expected but was quite nice for a quick low syn lunch.

Groovee · 26/01/2019 06:13

Well done @boats16

@SarahBee19 I use go go spreadable cheese not quark for Cajun chicken.

My friend makes her own SW Friendly pot noodle for free. I need to get the recipe.

I was out last night with my colleagues. Was meant to be a couple of drinks, 5 hours later after the best chips ever, I finally came home. Was a great night though. I was driving though.

Struggling with my fibromyalgia just now. I'm exhausted and struggling with my pain. I'm wide awake because of the pain I am in. Hopefully manage a hot bath later on as it was DD's birthday yesterday and she's due home today for a wee while.

Thank you all.
I hope youre feeling a bit better soon @ Groovee Does medication not help with your pain ? You shouldn't have to struggle with pain Sad

Groovee · 26/01/2019 09:59

The changes in weather doesn't help at the moment. It's so changeable and my poor body doesn't keep up. Due to my reflux my gastro consultant took me off everything but amitriptyline.

SarahBee19

Thank you for the advice. I thought I’d try quark as I’d spotted that they’ve started selling it in Lidl and seen it used for so many recipes. I’ve read a lot of reviews since complaining it splits. The trouble with the recipes using fat free yoghurt, creme fraiche etc is the slightly bitter taste it gives to a meal. Sheesh this losing weight is so slow! 4 weeks in and after an initial loss of a couple of pounds the needle on the scales refuses to budge! confused

Groovee · 26/01/2019 12:49

I use quark as a snack, not brave enough to cook with it 🙈

boats16 · 26/01/2019 13:58

I bought Quark once and didnt like the look of it so Ive never bought it again.I used Primula when I cooked a meal. ( Very rare occasion ) !!!!! I must say my chicken alfredo looked just like it did in the book. Gordon Ramsey would of been proud !!!!!!

boats16 · 26/01/2019 14:01

Apparently 'Curly Wurly' are 6 syns , so instead of a Freddo (which is 5 ) Im going to have half a CW . Only 3 syns and more filling . Grin

Groovee · 26/01/2019 14:40

Freeze your curly wurly...

boats16 · 26/01/2019 16:56

Is it better like that ? @ Groovee
Why ? Do you like them as a snack too ?

ALemonyPea · 26/01/2019 19:08

I use quark in baked oats. Much nicer than using yoghurt.

Made slow cooked chicken chow mien for tea tonight. Was lovely.

Groovee · 26/01/2019 19:12

Takes longer to eat.

Been a bit off plan today. Breakfast ok, but then went to the zoo with not much food to choose from in any way SW friendly, so had soup and Panini for lunch, then the pub for tea with family. Had prawn cocktail starter and then chicken in red wine sauce with veg and chips, which I would say was moderate as a choice. Chicken ok, handful of chips, half the bread and butter, who knows with the red wine sauce!! Also two g & t s. Very enjoyable evening though!

Yearofthemum · 27/01/2019 11:30

I was off plan yesterday too. Wedding anniversary and we had a voucher for a fancy restaurant given by our daughter. Very nice too! Tbh this whole week has not gone well, but I'll pull it back if I can.

Porridge and banana for breakfast though. I'm full of good intentions at last.

Regarding quark, I make the family a chicken with garlic, spinach white wine and cream sauce . For my portion I separate it before adding the cream and stir in quark instead. Personally I don't think it's that different. And if you finish it with a dusting of Parmesan from your HEA then you definitely shouldn't be able to tell.

Groovee · 27/01/2019 12:09

I had an off plan meal as we were celebrating DD's birthday. Most likely going to have a third gain...

strangerthongs · 27/01/2019 12:23

Lost 2lbs this week.

Full of cold today though :(

Yearofthemum · 27/01/2019 12:46

Me too Grovee. I had an 8lb gain over Xmas, then lost 2 plus a couple of half pounds. Not likely to lose this week at all. Sometimes life gets in the way.

boats16 · 27/01/2019 16:33

Well donestragerthongs👍
I know what you mean Yearofthemum😕
