I'm on holiday this week so taking the plunge on Monday. I've got about 1.5 stone to get me back to target (lost 3.5 stone 3 years ago and kept it off for 3 years!). Anyone want to join me staying on track?

Hi everyone! I've never done SW before but plan on joining tomorrow. I've found a club close by to my home who run 3 sessions in the AM so will be popping down! Can I just turn up? How long do the sessions last? I'm hoping to be part of this thread to help me keep on track and get some ideas too!

Mymadworld · 07/09/2018 12:24

@SentToTheSynByn sorry wrong tag it was meant for @Keehar256 !

Had a slight blow out dinner for dh's birthday yesterday including wine but I've worked out synd at 26 so on just 4 today!

Hi Sophiermx
I joined SW last week. At ours it takes about half an hour for everyone to queue to pay and then queue to get weighed. There is then a discussion session for 35-40minutes where you get a themed talk from the leader then they go around the group to ask what kind of week everybody had. Hope this helps! Feel free to ask other questions. Good luck with the plan. Do you have much to lose?

Thank you for your reply!
Oh that sounds okay, i wasn’t sure how long it took and was curious :) I’m abit nervous around new people and didn’t want to go if your the centre of attention at any point haha!
Thanks for the info.
Quite a lot - I want to loose 5 Stone 3 Pounds altogether. I’d love to achieve that towards mid 2019 but it’s 2lb a week! What do you have to lose? X

grumpymummy72 · 07/09/2018 21:51

Hi, I've just finished my first day on SW with only 11 syns used. Am pleasantly surprised at that but I am going to have an early night to avoid snacking temptation. An unintended consequence of dieting - more sleep! Got mother's 80th birthday meal tomorrow so every syn saved this week will help. Got almost 7st to lose ideally, but will take it in 2 stone chunks.

SunflowerJo08 · 08/09/2018 15:02

If you don't mind, I'd like to join in as its the start of a new job and term for me, it's a full time job so it's a big change in terms of lunches, evening family meals and so on. Last night DH and I sat down with the SW recipe books and made a menu and shopping list, he is in charge of cooking on a Tuesday night and at the weekends.

So yes, it its more of a restart for me as I've been plodding for far too long - managed to get through the holidays maintaining, but that was by the skin of my teeth.

Soulstirring · 08/09/2018 22:19

Anyone else finding shopping very expensive? I’ve stocked up on all the essentials but seem to have spent nearly £200 in two weeks which is a lot more than usual I feel (family of 4 with 2 littlies) That being said I have really enjoyed all the meals so far and have planned for the next week too.

We had sticky five spice pork with pak Choi and noodles tonight. So tasty!!

Chrisinthemorning · 09/09/2018 08:49

I spent £80 in Aldi yesterday. I’m following a FB group SW with Aldi which is very helpful.

tigerchair · 09/09/2018 14:19

Hi everyone. Could i join in with you too? Starting back in the morning. About 1.5 stone to lose.

UrbanSunday · 09/09/2018 16:57

Hope everyone’s having a good weekend. I’ve been a little ‘wayward’ so nervous about my first weigh in tomorrow!

Jofish26 · 09/09/2018 17:21

Can I join too? I really really need to get serious but there is a part of me that is scared,is that weird?
I need to lose about 10 stone altogether but 2 stone by Christmas would be great,is that too unrealistic?
I will see where the nearest SW club is and build up my confidence to go.

Flapdoodles · 09/09/2018 17:23

I rejoined last Tuesday. I have done SW previously and lost just over 3 stone then slowly started putting it on again, joined and lost then gained a stone so have rejoined and am feeling very determined (and cross with myself for putting the weight back on).

I have had a good week, eaten lots of free and speed foods but struggling to eat some syns. The first time I did SW and had great success, I was having nearly all my syns each day - the second time I restricted my syns which I think is why I ended up not sticking to it. Does anyone have any suggestions for low syn foods - I like savoury foods as opposed to sweet?

Chrisinthemorning · 09/09/2018 17:41

Bag of crisps like hula puffs, quavers are 3.5-4 syns.
Ryvita with laughing cow - I like the blue cheese ones

Chrisinthemorning · 09/09/2018 17:42

Actually adding a few syns to your food- a bit of chorizo, extra cheese etc could be a way to go?

iamyourequal · 09/09/2018 20:59

Hi All. Good luck for the coming week. I’ve had a rather dull weekend eeking out one bottle of prosecco over 3 evening (never managed that before). Not much fizz left in it. @Sophiermx. Sorry I forgot to come back and check the thread. I don’t have too much to lose . Somewhere between 1-2 stone. But I have no willpower and the metabolism of a sloth so find it really hard.

Bimgy85 · 10/09/2018 07:59

Starting today.. weigh 13 stone ten pounds. Years ago I was fifteen stone so this is my motivation. I went down to eleven then crept back up over the last Year... I love food so determined to make this work!

Porridge with a tsp of sugar for breakfast using half hex a

Bimgy85 · 10/09/2018 07:59

I made tomato soup for lunch and egg muffins.

Bimgy85 · 10/09/2018 09:23

Can anyone tell me , if I've used all my hex a later on and I want to have 85g ricotta , how much syns will this be? Instead of using it as hex a? It's a syn free mushroom ricotta pasta recipe. Thanks

tigerchair · 10/09/2018 12:17

From memory of doing SW before, a HE is usually equal to around 6 syns.

Weighed this morning, 11st 2.6lbs. First goal is to get below 11st then aim for 10st and under Smile
Hope you all have a great day

Slimtimeagain · 10/09/2018 13:29

I've been a bit quiet as life has got in the way but weighed this morning at 11 stone 4 and a half. 3 pounds off since last Monday! Going to try to drink more water this week and exercise more. Another busy week but will try to read how everyone is doing and also write more this week. Happy Monday all!

starryeyed19 · 10/09/2018 20:08

Off to my first meeting tomorrow! Fingers crossed for a nice group

slithytove · 10/09/2018 21:41

Hi, I joined at the start of sept. Have my second proper weigh in tomrrow having started at 16 stone 1 lb Blush and then losing 3.5lbs my first week. Am hoping to lose another 2 this week and get my half stone sticker the following week. It’s been ok so far but I’m struggling to come up with varied menus.

Mymadworld · 10/09/2018 22:32

Well done @Slimtimeagain on your loss . First week weigh in today and lost 4lb so feeling chuffed and motivated. Aiming for 2-3lbs this week and should be ok as I haven't got any social plans Smile. I've started doing overnight oats for busy mornings which has been a godsend and planned the week so feeling good.

Welcome new starters - this is the hard part so just get through the first few days then I found you get in the rhythm of it all. Got a coffee morning tomorrow so using my HEB as a chocolate hifi bar or I won't be able to resist something sweet.

slithytove · 11/09/2018 10:21

I had my weigh in and lost another 3.5 so I got my half stone award - really pleased with that.

This week I have a 70th birthday party I’m going to, so am trying to plan ahead (the whole weekend syns will disappear in gin) in the hopes I can still show a loss next week. I want to try and max out at 10 syns per day until then.

Mymadworld · 11/09/2018 13:45

Well done @slithytove . If I know I'm going out for a big night I also try and have a speed day before & on the day until I go out as well as syn saving - never stopped me losing so might be worth trying
