Welcome back Ambushed. I struggled to get my head round WW. My friend has been really successful on it but it would be boring if we were all the same.

amusedbush · 31/10/2017 15:54

I was very successful several years ago on ProPoints, which was totally flexible and I was a diehard WWer - wouldn't hear of any other plan.

Now I can't believe how much they've changed it. They heavily penalise any sort of fat or sugar, so you're totally starving and deprived unless you live on lean protein and veg forever.

BUT this is not a WW-bashing thread. I'm glad to go back to SW, which has seen me right these past three months.

trinitybleu · 31/10/2017 16:22

Urgh, we always go out for dinner on Halloween and was mentally prepped for Harvester... OH wants to go to Prezzo! Any ideas in lower syn stuff anyone please??

PositiveAttitude · 31/10/2017 16:38

Trinity here's a Prezzo Syn list

Just off for WI with my roasted veg cous cous salad. Not looking forward to having to talk in front of them all again. I bloody hope I have lost at least something this week, too.

trinitybleu · 31/10/2017 16:50

Thanks positive

(although not sure what this "half pizza" thing is... There's a reason I'm this fat!)

ALemonyPea · 31/10/2017 18:32

Trinity, I’ve just looked at the menu, and the lighter pasta dishes sound nice. If they use dry pasta, then I’d just say 10 syns for the tomato based ones.

I was nominated for Miss Slinky, didn’t win though. It’s a popularity contest really, and I find that really deflating, mainly because I’ve given this diet my all over the last year and a half, and I’d like to think I’ve been helpful at group for other members. Not that I’m huffed about not winning. Hope my point is coming across.

Regarding the WW thing, I was a WW follower for years, found the pro points very easy, but when they switched to the new version, I found it so restrictive and the points for things that were once low were incredibly high. I only ever managed to lose 2or stone so on WW anyway before giving up as it was r3strictivd and didn’t promote healthy eating. I’d have my daily points in biscuits and crisps then be starving the rest of the day or just not bother that day, which would lead to the week.

Lubilu28 · 31/10/2017 20:06

I just tried the carrot mug cake (to have whilst watching bake off final) and it was absolutely disgusting!! Won’t be wasting my time or syns on that one again!!

And the picture in the book looks so scrummy and syrupy 😔 x

FaithEverPresent · 31/10/2017 20:36

Lubilu that’s what my consultant said!

Sorry to hear that Lemony. I’ve never been in a meeting for Miss Slinky and I’m kind of glad. I did WW twice (once in early 00s and then again in 2015). I found it really restrictive too. I lost 1 1/2st both times but then plateaued both times for months. I find SW much easier, less restrictive.

I’m struggling. I have chronic pain and it’s not great at the moment. I am eating my feelings! I’m on drugs that increase my appetite. I’m doing my sleep hypnosis which helps though. I will keep on trying!

ALemonyPea · 31/10/2017 20:44

Oh I’m not bothered that I didn’t win. What’s bothered me is how I feel like it’s a popularity competition, and the popular girls always win. Feels like being back at school again, where I was never popular and got no recognition for my hard work because of it.

Groovee · 31/10/2017 21:13

My lovely friend won Miss Slinky. I nominated her. It looks like she may be our new consultant too.

Taster was fab. Someone made a last minute Christmas cake which I couldn’t stop eating.

Lost half a pound. Burlesque was fab. We did a Christmas routine.

I’m still trying to find a local burlesque group agroovee, nothing on a convenient day.

I am having a colonoscopy next week. So worried, and not looking forward to the laxative the day before. Might have a great loss the following week though 😁

PositiveAttitude · 01/11/2017 00:06

I didn't win Miss Slinky either, but a lovely lady did - I voted for her. I was pleased she won, cos she needs a confidence boost. What i said went down well and I had lots of comments afterwards. Plus my cous cous salad was appreciated and no negative comments about it (expected them!!) So a good evening all round. Oh and I lost 0.5lb too. Not a lot, but in the right direction and after the slowing down of losses I will take anything that isnt a gain!!

FaithEverPresent · 01/11/2017 08:15

Lemony I had one last year. I’m happy to answer any questions you might have.

latedecember1963 · 01/11/2017 09:31

Lemony, my DH has had a couple of colonoscopies. The first one showed up a couple of benign polyps that were removed, the one he had in the last year or so required no further action. He says it was uncomfortable but he was fascinated watching his insides on the monitor. Each to their own! I'm sure Faith will have more useful information. Hope all goes well.

ALemonyPea · 01/11/2017 10:09

Thank you. Luckily I have a close friend who is available to answer my gross questions, but thank you for the offer and support.

Scribblegirl · 01/11/2017 12:24

Bloody hell I'm down 3.5lb Shock admittedly I was on star week when I weighed in last time but I'm very happy with that. 1lb til my first half stone and until I'm back in the 11s Smile

Off to celebrate with a chicken salad...!

Trills · 01/11/2017 22:08

Chicken salad is a very good celebration :)

2lb off this week. Pleased with that.

thisgirlrides · 01/11/2017 22:53

Great losses well done. Had a yummy pad Thai for dinner but struggling for inspiration these next few days. Got a chicken to roast tomorrow any nice sides or suggestions?

Groovee · 02/11/2017 07:02

Morning all, well done to those with losses. Had a good day yesterday. Snacked on speed foods and finished on 9.5 syns. I had no waffles at the Brownie fancy dress and waffle party.

Taking my dad to the hospital today so doing a beef chilli in the slow cooker. Bought the Iceland 5% frozen mince and its amazing to cook with and 900g for £5. It’s going to be a freezer staple with the cooked chicken pieces!

Well done to the losers!

Had my first chocolate for 5 weeks yesterday as we had leftovers from the trick or treaters. I've put it out of sight this morning because otherwise I'll mindlessly eat my way through it.

DH has bought me a hedge trimmer so I made a start on the Autumn garden tidy up yesterday afternoon. I only did an hour but my tummy muscles can feel it today!

Hope your hospital trip goes ok, Groovee.

gruffaloshmuffalo · 02/11/2017 12:46

May I join you? I just joined SW this morning. I have 5 stone to lose which seems insurmountable right now

PositiveAttitude · 02/11/2017 13:08

Welcome Gruffalo In July 2016 I was 5 stone heavier than I am now. It certainly doesn't have to be insurmoutable. Smile

Jo2217 · 02/11/2017 13:22

Afternoon!
Welcome Gruffalo 😊
I've lost 6lbs as of this morning 👍 didnt have the best day on Tuesday admittedly, but doesn't seem to have had a huge impact :) we'll done everyone on their losses!

I'm finding all-in-one tray bakes to be immensely satisfying as dinner and I'm hitting about 7 portions of veg a day! Tonight is salmon fillets with roasted veg underneath ☺️
I'm finding lunches at work a little uninspiring at the moment so if anyone has any one-pot lunches (that are not jacket potatoes) that fill up that would be great. I made a big batch of syn free tomato soup and I've been having a mug full of that with lunches each day.

Hope everyone has a great rest of the week 😀

KnitFastDieWarm · 02/11/2017 13:24

Hello all, just started last week and was thrilled with a 5.5lb loss - went to second group this mronibg and I'd gained 2lb! I genuinely don't know why Confused
Please reassure me! Could it be that I lost a load of water weight in the first week? Feeling a bit disappointed Sad

Groovee · 02/11/2017 13:42

Gruffalo, break it down into smaller goals like 7lb, then another 7lb. It will happen much better.

Knit keep at it. You will most likely get it off next week x
