5 1/2lbs down this week for me.

Petaldrops · 15/11/2017 15:21

I'm thrilled, it felt kind of like my first weigh in as not I've not been in the zone for a few months. So onwards and downwards from now on hopefully.

Groovee · 15/11/2017 16:01

Well done Petal.

Thanks @Groovee

TheImprobableGirl · 15/11/2017 18:21

So i went back to group monday - luckily I haven't put weight on but also its been 3 months and I haven't lost any either!

Back on the syn free gravy train now though.

Having chilli stuffed peppers and a tasty mixed salad for dinner - can't wait!

Groovee · 15/11/2017 20:13

Welcome back @TheImprobableGirl

thanks groovee (are you the same groovee I have on MyFitnessPal perchance?! It might be a Groovester if not...)

When I said a tasty mixed salad - I meant a tasty meal rather than being super excited for mixed leaves Hmm

Hello! Can I join too please?

I’m only in the first week of SW, having been fairly successful with WW before - I’m finding it quite tricky getting used the the new regime though.

For example, on WW I could have a slice of cake for x points, and then not really eat much for the rest of the day. How does this work on SW though? Can I really have a cake for 15 syns and then still eat pasta, rice or potato later?

Groovee · 15/11/2017 22:13

@TheImprobableGirl it could well be me. I think I’m grooveecar there. I only use it to log my exercise.

@skinnyamericano Yes you can have up to 15 syns a day and still eat free and speed foods. Any questions just fire away.

Secretly pleased my night out was cancelled as I knew it would be a disaster diet wise and stuck to plan Smile. Made SW prawn special fried rice for tea which was really quick, simple and delicious. I’m now 11st 2 and desperate to see 10st again!
Size 12 jeans is a massive achievement well done & hope to be joining you soon!

thisgirlrides · 15/11/2017 22:59

@skinnyamericano yes you can but don’t forget third of your plate must be veg and I do find my losses slow if I use all 15syns too often

skinnyamericano · 15/11/2017 23:03

Thanks groovee and thisgirlrides.

I wouldn’t have cake every day, by the way, just occasionally! (On weigh-in day probably!)

Groovee · 16/11/2017 05:56

Ooh good luck @thisgirlrides

OP posts:
Groovee · 16/11/2017 05:58

It doesn’t have to be Veg just needs to be speed foods. A few people make the mistake of thinking peas and seeetcorn is speed when it’s not. Sometimes I do fruit if I fancy that for a change.

It's ANOTHER colleague's birthday this week so we're doing the usual ritual of coffee and cake at 3pm. I had a piece of cake last week when it was someone else's birthday but I'll be abstaining today as I'm saving my syns for a Starbucks with a friend tonight. She has been travelling this past month and I promised her a Christmas coffee and a good chinwag!

I will probably be stopped by the SW Police because I save my A choice and subtract the syns from coffee shop drinks (e.g. a tall semi-skimmed toffee nut latte with whipped cream is 13 syns, so I won't have my A choice and I'll call the latte 7 syns). My consultant says that this is categorically Not Allowed but I'm a rebel Grin

Groovee · 16/11/2017 15:41

Ah @amusedbush it’s the members choice 😂

OP posts:
amusedbush · 16/11/2017 15:59

Groovee My consultant almost burst a blood vessel trying to convince me not to do it because "you can't be sure what they're putting in your cup". Well, going by that logic then surely you can never be sure of the syns?? Grin

Raisedbyguineapigs · 16/11/2017 17:25

Yes I always think they're not going to put 300 mls of milk into a 330 no drink with a shot of coffee. I've not risked a toffee nut latte but I do the same with Cappuccino

amusedbush · 16/11/2017 17:47

I think he meant it could be whole milk when I've asked for skimmed but you can watch them pour it from the red carton!

Raisedbyguineapigs · 16/11/2017 21:40

Yes and of course, whole milk tastes exactly the same as skimmed milk!

Trills · 17/11/2017 07:57

Your consultant is an idiot IMO.

My "love food love food optimising" book (the one you write your progress in the back of) specifically says:

If you choose a ready-made sandwich made with wholemeal bread, you can count the bread as a Healthy Extra choice and deduct 6 syns from the syn value of your sandwich

No reason you can't do that with milk in a milky drink.

amusedbush · 17/11/2017 16:16

It's not even just my current consultant! The group I went to a couple of years ago spouted the same nonsense.

I'll keep doing what I'm doing until it no longer works for me!

ShapelyBingoWing · 17/11/2017 16:40

29lbs lost, 1st of that with SW. Still no bloody reduction in dress size. And absolutely nobody has noticed. Which is all the more depressing as another friend in my circle has lost about half of what I have and everybody is noticing. I know it's to do with my shape (I'm a very busty hourglass) and the fact that I don't seem to be losing from my biggest parts but it's still getting me down Sad

TheImprobableGirl · 17/11/2017 16:46

oh bingowing don't be disheartened :(

I know its so hard and slow going when nobody else seems to notice but come summer when you start getting a bit more flesh out (if you are anything like me then winter is a cover-up-in-a-big-jumper sort of time) then people will really start to notice

29lbs is an amazing achievement and must certainly make a big difference in the way that you feel and the energy you have! Congratulations on the weight loss. Keep it up :)

Yes Groovee it is you - I don't tend to use MyFitnessPal when I'm on the slimming world wagon, I feel too distracted. If my scales are anything to go by then I'm due for a big loss in this first week - though might treat myself to a chinese and a bottle of prosecco tonight - have made it through the whole week without drinking!

Had a haircut today that dh has told me is a 'skinny persons haircut' not sure how I feel about that though... I've got a good 4 stone to go before I can be considered morbidly obese no longer!

Plus my dd (3) helpfully pointed out that the new skirt I have bought would have to go back... because now I look like a boy, and boys don't wear skirts Shock Hmm

Groovee · 17/11/2017 17:09

Anyone know the syns for Chiquito’s? Went at lunch but couldn’t find syns anywhere. Had SAN Paolo Sea Bass which was lovely.
