Hello all

Missed wi yesterday again. Not delibrate just got caught up Christmas shopping. Sigh.

Would have been a maintain at best anyway. Not doing brilliantly but am just not in the right frame of mind. Trying to run down my freezer so having odd combinations hasn't helped. Plus tryinh to get rid of the apple pies we have frozen in there too. Yum though!

I have also had a bread craving last couple of days. And had a bag of crisps with my.lunch. Due again to trying to use stuff up ready for the Christmas food shop to be put away.

Never mind. I will just keep plodding along. Am putting holiday weeks in for Christmas weeks. I know I wont go so might as well not pay for them.

Am ready for a proper break. But also bizarrely looking forwards to January and losing weight again.

LavenderRains · 08/12/2016 13:30

That breakfast sounds awesome lemony must try that. Apart from scrambled eggs, I can't stand them! Any other type but not scrambled. I'm thinking I could put the mushrooms and cheese on a slice of wholemeal toast. Yum

ALemonyPea · 08/12/2016 13:48

Ah Frouby, eating apple pie, must be hard, stay strong.

I'm also oooking forward to January where I have no plans and I can crack on with getting to goal.

FaithFromTheRealmsOfGlory · 08/12/2016 13:50

Argh how can you ruin that lovely food with marmite?! Glad you enjoyed it Lemony!

Frouby we were talking about how tough December is at group last night. I'm slightly different because I've only been going 8 weeks and have the incentive of a new job in January (want to feel confident when I start!) but most of my group would simply be happy to maintain/have a small gain over December.

I've realised I've now reached the lowest weight I ever reached with WW and the lowest I've been in about 10 years Shock so now I'm super motivated to lose for next week. Even one lb would be brilliant!!

WhoKnowsWhereTheT1meG0es · 08/12/2016 13:54

Marmite is a breakfast essential for me! My breakfast consists of a sliver of toasted rye bread spread with a Laughing cow triangle, marmite and topped with two poached eggs and black pepper. I have to have some crunch in my breakfast otherwise I feel all greased out.

WhoKnowsWhereTheT1meG0es · 08/12/2016 16:06

I've just had my renewal email through - I'm an online member who initially signed up for three months. I'm in two minds about whether to bother. The website is crap, the app is crap, the magazines don't interest me, the webchats are never at times I can make it, I can't go to group. Literally the only thing I am getting out of it now I have got the hang of it all is a weekly email telling me to weigh in (I'm not interested in stars and badges either).

But, without that £5 a week email, will I lose motivation? I'm logging my weigh-ins on the Fitbit app too, so I wouldn't lose my record. Not sure what to do. I'm very happy with my progress, but worried about losing my motivation.

alibongo5 · 08/12/2016 16:44

"But, without that £5 a week email, will I lose motivation?"

I'll send you a weekly email for £3! :)

ALemonyPea · 08/12/2016 16:55

Grin Ali

Whoknows, if you feel you'll be ok, why not buy the books off Ebay so you at least have something to look back at if you need to knows syns etc.

WhoKnowsWhereTheT1meG0es · 08/12/2016 18:21

Grin Ali!

That's a good idea about the books Lemony, although I don't know if I'll need them, I haven't really looked anything up since the first week or so (website and app really are useless), I'm going on the basis of 25cals per syn and I know roughly what my healthy extras are. I'm not doing SP days either, just cut back a bit if necessary.

I have to phone up to cancel, I will ask them what happens if I cancel and then want to come back.

alibongo5 · 08/12/2016 18:45

Joking apart Whoknows - I think £5 is a bit steep if you can't get along to the groups - I wouldn't bother but agree that it is difficult to be motivated but tbh don't think an email would motivate me! I agree that the website is pretty crap which I was surprised at. Finding recipes is hit and miss - an advanced search would be great but as it is the search is really clunky. And why no forum?

Don't think I'd pay £5 just to get an email but of course everybody's different and if it's working why not?

ALemonyPea · 08/12/2016 20:02

Fair enough. It's 20cals per syn though.

I doubt I will stick around the groups once I get to target. Cannot stand the groups some days, so fake, depending who is there.

WhoKnowsWhereTheT1meG0es · 08/12/2016 20:46

That's the other thing, I'm not doing it super-strictly (aiming for a pound a week), I haven't logged syns at any point, I just keep an approximate daily running total in my head. I also haven't used any of the recipes. So while it's working really well for me, I don't use any of the resources at all apart from weighing in. Think I will ditch it and rely on my Fitbit and this thread, maybe I can set up some sort of reminder on my phone.

alibongo5 · 08/12/2016 21:16

It doesn't sound like you're getting anything for your money at all! As you say, you might just as well go it alone and do it yourself on your fitbit. You're not going to groups, not benefitting from anybody else's experiences, not getting support if you need it. Not even having the thought of standing there on the scales in front of someone as an incentive to keep going.

You could also try Myfitnesspal to log your weight and eating etc if you like - I find it much easier to use than the SW website.

WhoKnowsWhereTheT1meG0es · 08/12/2016 21:45

I've tried MFP in the past and found it to not work for me, that's one reason I don't log with SW. It makes me obsess about limits, calories etc and then I can't stop thinking about eating. I also found it pretty difficult to use when cooking from scratch - I'm a chuck everything in the pan person rather than an exact follower of recipes. I think I'll carry on as I am but without resubscribing if you lot promise not to chuck me off the thread!

alibongo5 · 08/12/2016 21:58

Yeah I know what you mean about logging things. I cook from scratch and find it difficult too. I just jot down an outline meal plan on a spreadsheet just so I can have an idea of what I'm eating. But the logging on SW and MFP is a pain!

FaithFromTheRealmsOfGlory · 09/12/2016 07:57

Whoknows I'm the same with logging. It makes me obsessive and I can end up feeling deprived and then end up eating more! I keep vague track of my syns and it's enough. I think in your position I'd stop the membership for a couple of months and see how you get on.

Had my work night out last night. Meal choices planned ahead so that was fine - had soup (no croutons), turkey, fruit salad for dessert. However I'd only planned to have 3 drinks, we bought vouchers in advance that saved money...except there was free wine on the table so I had 3 of those too! Blush I did get soda water to make them spritzer so I drank less but still had a lot more than planned! Shattered this morning.

ALemonyPea · 09/12/2016 09:58

I like the freedom SW has o not weigh and measure every little thing. Hate tracking all my food.

Feel like crap this morning, have a hacking cough and not slept much. Trying to resist feeding myself biscuits and having a once person pity party.

WhoKnowsWhereTheT1meG0es · 09/12/2016 10:52

I'm glad it's not just me with the tracking. Lemony hope you feel better soon.

Work night out for me tonight, going to an Italian restaurant so I'm hoping to try and stick to mostly meat/fish and veg rather than pizza. I'm driving so I can stick to mineral water or Diet Coke. We have another work night out next week (I have two jobs) and that one does have pre-booked meals and nothing remotely SW friendly on the menu Sad.

Buttwing · 09/12/2016 11:42

I'm the same with tracking I start obsessing over what I'm eating. Obviously I keep a mental note in my head of Syns but that's it.
Lemony I hope you feel better soon there is so much around at the momentFlowers

I was supposed to be out on a mums night out tonight but my mum is not well so I've no babysitter. I told her off this morning as she's been soldiering on but is really ill. I told her if she didn't make a doctors appointment I would do it and drive her there in her dressing gown. She's going this morning. I keep hearing of people with pneumonia and it worries me.

On the plus side I have nothing to take me off plan now this week (except the Xmas goodies in the garage!)

B-pineapple
L-chicken salad
D-pasta

tabulahrasa · 09/12/2016 16:36

I don't track free food, there's no need at all and that's one of the reasons I am succesful at slimming world and get weird and obsessive with other things.

I do physically note or tally Syns though, because in my head doesn't work...my head is bad for giving me extra, lol

Buttwing · 09/12/2016 21:17

Bloody hell Im Hungry tonight. I've had dinner but I'm starving, I'm thinking about making an omlette or some picky salady, pickley things hmm decision decisions....

ALemonyPea · 09/12/2016 21:19

Went Christmas shopping with DH tonight and we ate at a burrito place. Had a naked burrito, syn free, and it was bloody amazing! Could easily eat that every other day.

Butt, I had some ham and gherkins before I went shopping, to keep my strength up you see. Always good to have if you're pekish.

LavenderRains · 09/12/2016 23:06

Well I've been tired and grumpy all day. Put the Xmas decs up which look nice but it's such hard work dragging it all out!....
Anyway, went for a carvery with DH, had loads of veg and 3 small roasted, 2 pigs in blankets. Didn't think that was too bad syn wise. But also has pate to startBlush
B beans on toast and grated cheese (hea&b)
D a few slices cold chicken. Fruit salad
T carvery
also 2 fingers of fudge.

Work tomorrow so I should be more in control!

ALemonyPea · 10/12/2016 11:37

Happy weekend everyone. Always quiet here at the weekend.

Round 2 of Christmas shopping today. Not sure where we are acting, but I will make wise choices. Need to lose five lb by Christmas.

alibongo5 · 10/12/2016 12:57

Work do last night - about a million syns I think! And another do tonight so my WI on Tuesday will not be pretty.

But next week I don't think I'm out at all so hopefully can break even for the next one.

Good luck everyone!
