My weight loss journey to Ivf

lugo40 · 02/07/2015 12:12

I have decided to record my weight loss on here to keep me motivated and focused.

I grew up being told I was fat and negativity used as motivation. I first joined a slimming club at 12 but had been following from about 6 as my mum joined them all. At 15 I began comfort eating. At 27 I got anxiety and depression and gained a huge amount of weight very fast.

Looking back at photos I was not overweight as a child and even until 22 was a size 16 Which I would love to be now!! At 27 I went from a size 18 to 22/gaining 4 stone in a year. I'm now 31 a size 22/24 and after 18 months of trying to concieve have discovered my husband is infertile and we need Ivf. I was so convinced that the lack of pregnancy was due go my weight it's been a huge shock.

We joined slimming world together , husband as 2 stone to lose and I have 7 stone to lose in order to get Ivf.

My weight loss so far:

Week 1- lost 5 1/2
Week 2- lost 2 total 7 1/2
Week 3- lost 3 total 10 1/2
Week 4- lost 2 1/2 total 13

It's my first time doing slimming world and I completely love it!!! I will get to try Ivf and I will have my baby x

Hi Lugo.

Well done. I have added to your thread before in another section! Well done on your losses. SW is so easy dont u think? Keep going and you will get there. I am also loosing due to needing ivf (i had pcos but managed to reverse that due to loosing weight and now I just have unexplained infertilitySad ) Has your OH lost any weight yet? My OH also had a few issues with his swimmers (not bad but not great either). At our last test all his levels were up and looking good due to change in diet and loosing weight. Although your oh doesnt have too much to loose, you may see a positive change due to him eating better.

Thanks Dolly! Well done on your weight loss, sorry your now unexplained that's frustrating!

My husband is doing well and is now taking vitamins too.

I love slimming world!! It's working very well for us, I've never had success with diets before. We're booking a big holiday for snf of the year when I should be low enough to come home and start Ivf :-)

Hi Lugo, just wanted to say congratulations on your sustained weight loss - didn't want to read and run. I'm currently on a weight loss push as well, and stories like yours are a fantastic inspiration, thank you.

Best of luck for your rejoin! Such a fab diet.

Week 16- gained half a pound. Total lost 2 stone 31/2 pounds

Absolutely gutted with my gain - first one since joining . I can't think what went wrong apart from I hurt my back so was prob less mobile than normal and not eating much. Anyhow, let's look forward to next week. I'm going to try sp for the first time and hoping for a big loss!
