My weight loss journey to Ivf

I have decided to record my weight loss on here to keep me motivated and focused.

I grew up being told I was fat and negativity used as motivation. I first joined a slimming club at 12 but had been following from about 6 as my mum joined them all. At 15 I began comfort eating. At 27 I got anxiety and depression and gained a huge amount of weight very fast.

Looking back at photos I was not overweight as a child and even until 22 was a size 16 Which I would love to be now!! At 27 I went from a size 18 to 22/gaining 4 stone in a year. I'm now 31 a size 22/24 and after 18 months of trying to concieve have discovered my husband is infertile and we need Ivf. I was so convinced that the lack of pregnancy was due go my weight it's been a huge shock.

We joined slimming world together , husband as 2 stone to lose and I have 7 stone to lose in order to get Ivf.

My weight loss so far:

Week 1- lost 5 1/2
Week 2- lost 2 total 7 1/2
Week 3- lost 3 total 10 1/2
Week 4- lost 2 1/2 total 13

It's my first time doing slimming world and I completely love it!!! I will get to try Ivf and I will have my baby x

Hi there! Haven't been on here in a while. Glad to see you're still doing well with your losses Lugo and welcome to MrsD, great loss so far!

I'm currently at 3 stone 6 pounds lost, BMI 30, so I got the Clomid!! Am on CD20 so will see if I have ov'd after my day 21 bloods on Wednesday. Not sure that it's worked first time but trying to be positive. Still loving SW

Wow that's amazing!!!! Well done. I'm keeping positive thoughts for you, such an achievement with your weight loss.

Ah I didn't get that bit! Lol Glad to see you're doing well then Do you have any upcoming appointments or goals in mind for your IVF?

We wont be entitled to NHS funding but still going through all the tests etc to see even if ivf is an option or not. if it is then we would hope to start in the summer as my bmi should be low enough then - private clinics say bmi below 35 which is also what nhs class as low risk pregnancy so i am just keeping fingers crossed that we can have ivf.

Week 35: 1 1/2 pounds off and 3 stone 3 1/2 pounds in total 😀

Hey :) it's been a while since I've been on here! Just spent ages catching up with all the posts I follow whilst I've got the chance. This time of day is best for me!

I see you're still doing well, which is fab! I'm still going too, I'm at 3st 9.5lb so far and my BMI is now at the higher end of 29, which is a nice change! I'm still going though so I can get within the healthy range in case we need IVF as my area seem v strict on BMI and treatment through the NHS. 2nd round Clomid hasn't worked either unfortunately so they're doubling the dose next time, so fx. I think they thought everything would magically work once my weight had gone down, but as usual, things are not that easy

You're doing amazingly! I too need to lose weight to get proper help TTC. Just think, you're halfway there now!

now up to 3 and a half stone!!!!

4 and a half stone to go to get nhs ivf or 2 and a half stone to go to get private ivf and be considered low risk pregnancy by nhs... almost there!!!

Well done! I'm at 4st 2lbs lost so far. I'm on cd17 of 100mg Clomid so have bloods on Thursday to check ov but I'm pretty sure this round hasn't worked either. 2 more to try and then I'll be moving on, most likely straight to IVF from what I can gather x

Hi MrsDarcy. Well done on your weight loss so far! You're doing amazingly. Just a thought though. Not all private clinic's have an upper bmi (although lower is better). My bmi was 38 when I had my last ivf. And the results are twin girls who are dropping to sleep on my knees now. Just 6 months old. We went to Prague and it was excellent. If you want any info just PM me!

I've just rejoined SW as I've put on a few stone since having the babies! . Look forward to seeing your progress

How is everyone doing?

Hey everyone!! I've had a few difficult weeks/ holidays, illness etc.
Anyway I'm back on track with 3 stone 12 pound loss still. We have our fu appointment tomorrow with male infertility specialist to see if ivf is even an option. If it is, we've found a clinic we like and they said my bmi of 38 is fine but I would ideally like to lose another 2 stone for bmi of 35 so I'm not considered high risk preg.

I will update this weekly again from now on.

I've finally hit the 4 stone!!!!!!!

No more gains now only losses every week and this will be updated weekly as intended. Hoping to start ivf in December, bmi is currently 40 and were having it privately so don't need to lose more but want to lose about 2 stone so my bmi is 35.

At my fertility ap they measured by height a few cms shorter so I've had to change how I calculate my bmi which is why it's now 40 - so annoying!

I've just started slimming world as we want to start trying soon. We haven't had any fertility problems or anything but know that my weight could be an issue so it's wonderful to see how well you are doing :)

I've lost 6 1/2 lbs so far, reckon i've got 3 stone to lose.

Total loss- 4 stone 1 pound.

27 pounds to go- hoping I will do it by Christmas!

1/2 pound off. 4 stone 1 1/2 in total. 26 1/2 pounds to go

Just happened on this and wanted to say: keep going mrs darcy, you are doing brilliantly. It's really hard to keep going for the long haul but so worth it.

So sorry for neglecting this page. I'm not up to 4 stone 9 pounds off. I'm aiming for 5 stone by Christmas!
