My hairdresser (who I see every 6 weeks or so) came today. As she was leaving she looked at me and said, "You've lost some weight. You look good."

This was (and still is) me ----> Grin

Other people are noticing. This can only be a good thing.

Dawndonna · 01/06/2013 22:08

Does anyone know how may syns are in plain popcorn, as in the stuff you do in a hot pan at home?
Thank you, I'm hoping it'll help get me through the next time I have a bad day!

YoureAllABunchOfBastards · 02/06/2013 09:16

No idea, Dawn - I suppose it depends on if you use any fat.

I got some gorgeous stuff in London - Skinny Topcorn, which was about 5 Syns for a biggish bag. Can't find it up north yet.

LollipopViolet · 02/06/2013 12:20

I guess if you used Fry Light to stop it sticking, it'd be free? I'll have a look around online and see if I can find out.

TheDetective · 02/06/2013 14:36

Help! DS who is 11 is eating the same meals we are for dinner. He's lost weight too, 7lb in 4 1/2 weeks. He was already very slim, he's very tall and skinny. So I don't want/he doesn't need to lose weight.

He isn't eating the same thing as us every night, probably 4/5 nights a week he will.

So what should I do? I don't want to cook separately if I can help it, occasionally I do, but I'm not up for doing it every night!

Would it be worth talking to my consultant?

DS is 5ft 1, and 6st 5, he was 6st 12 a few weeks ago.

YoureAllABunchOfBastards · 02/06/2013 15:40

Give him extra bread and butter with his meal?

Dawndonna · 02/06/2013 18:50

YoureAll
That sounds lovely!
Have had a more sensible day today, been eating half the day again, but have stuck to chicken and prawns for nibbling.

TheDetective · 02/06/2013 19:13

I chucked out the butter, and the butter dish!! D'oh! Thought it was too much temptation?!

I was thinking extra cheese when we have cheesy meals. Extra snacks inbetween meals. Full fat yoghurts too.

Any other ideas?

Blondeshavemorefun · 02/06/2013 20:09

i have heard this can be a problem with sw and kids, ie all eating same meals

some consults say to add B&B bread and butter as bread seems to be the worst thing on sw

some say make sure have full fat cheese and yogs

others say to add extra carbs like pasta, pots

you dont want to stuff them with junk :(

Evening! Back from my little break at Center Parcs, which was great, even taking into account the weather! We had two bbq's and I had taken the burgers and sausages as I knew where they were from and the syn value. Didnt stick to plan very well, but kept away from the carbs. Did loads of walking around.

Fully expecting a gain tomorrow at WI as I have realistically been off plan for nearly 2 weeks!

Good to see some new recruits!

Daisy1407 · 02/06/2013 20:55

I've just sat here for hours and read through these posts! What amazing stories!
I joined SW last Monday with my mum we both want to lose about 1 stone I have to say that all I've felt I've done is eat (which is fab) I have been really good having an average of about 10 syns a day - apart from last night when I drank too much booze!

My first weigh in is 2mo 7pm - bring it on!
So many amazing losses on this diet!

Today I've had
2 hovis bread with cheese spread and ham sarnie, fruit, mullerlight, chicken in piri piri sauce (in a bag), SW chips, and a yummy crunchie

I'm satisfied x

Blondeshavemorefun · 02/06/2013 21:02

B fruit
L mugshot and fruit
T roast dinner and free veg- trying to work out syns for

detective my kids get bread like crusty and naan (that I then have to resist). Or they have cheese. And yes normal yoghurts as u said. I understand though what u mean - and I'm sure u don't want to fill him with junk. It's a hard one.

daisy u sound motivated! This diet s great - first time I ever felt full and have kept at it. Keep us posted!!

I must admit though this week been stressed with huge amount of work on and will be lucky to sts at weigh in on tues. going to try eating two thirds super free tomorrow and tues (success express). Haven't tred it yet but quite a few girls in class talk about it. Need something To kick me into action!!

muminthecity · 02/06/2013 21:32

Thanks Blondes, I am feeling a bit better about it today.

I went out for lunch for a friend's birthday today at a nice pub and managed to resist the burgers/chips/pizzas that everyone else had and just had a jacket potato with beans and salad. Was very proud of my restraint! Grin

Unfortunately I also had 2 glasses of Pimms which I have since discovered is 4.5 syns per glass! Oops!

beanandspud · 02/06/2013 22:24

Evening all!

I'm back on the SW plan as just looked at the calendar and realised that I am only 10 weeks away from my holiday.

Have had a fairly, ahem, 'relaxed' couple of weeks with rather too mich wine, pizza, bread and chocolate but despite everything I had lost 2lb this morning so a grand total of 1.5 stones which isn't going to win me any awards but still feels pretty good.

So, I am sitting here with a G&T (slimline!) and going back through my magazines and recipe books ready to get back in earnest tomorrow.

Good to see lots of newbies, I will try and go back and work out who everyone is!

SalaciousCrumb · 03/06/2013 07:07

Morning all

My first wi, I lost 2lb. Should have done better but had a few lapses over the weekend. But it's a start and I am hoping for a good week.

The lapses involved bread and oily olives Blush

I wonder why bread is cut down on slimmers world when pasta is free food? Both are wheaty.

Huffpot · 03/06/2013 08:27

Well done bean...am impressed you lost
And congrats on your loss as well salacious

I really should meal plan but for some reason I find it very difficult Sad

Blondeshavemorefun · 03/06/2013 08:58

Bean. That's fab esp as you weren't dieting

Sal - still want to all you trimmer lol - 2lb loss is good. I managed nothing :(

B fruit

Doing a temp job this week so haven't a clue what will be in her fridge

Hoping for salad for lunch

BlueGoddess · 03/06/2013 10:38

Morning everyone - I thought I'd better introduce myself, even if it is a bit late!

I joined Slimming World in November last year and have lost 3 stone, with only 3lb to go until target. This last 3lb is very elusive though!

I've been on holiday last week, and am dreading my weigh in on Wednesday - loads of good stuff planned for the few days before though, so will hopefully minimise the damage done by the puddings and candy floss machine....

LollipopViolet · 03/06/2013 11:37

I've had my usual cereal and milk for breakfast (all weighed and measured) and am debating lunch.

Got salmon and SW chips for dinner tonight, so that's sorted. I've had a really good week this week, going ice skating tomorrow then for lunch at my usual pub/restaurant place. Will be very restrained and probably have a jacket with beans or tuna. They do an amazing pulled pork burger but last time I indulged in that I had a gain so will give it a miss as I've been chasing my 1 stone award for weeks!

Then out for dinner with friends on Wednesday (hopefully after attending my usual evening group - want my friends to be there if I do get my 1 stone award, but if I'm being picked up too early will go to morning group) and have some ideas of what I can have there too. I am so motivated right now it's crazy!

BethAndHerBrood · 03/06/2013 12:42

Hi, can i join in? Been lurking for a while, been doing sw for a while. I don't go to a sw class ( fell out big time with the cons) but am going to a weigh in group at my local sure start centre. Which is fine, but doesn't seem to hold the power like a sw weigh in did!

But i am losing, slowly, but have had a week off, lots of lovely grub, so will have put some on this week.

beanandspud · 03/06/2013 13:04

Did you have a good holiday?

Welcome to Blue and Beth. We've been on this thread since January and many of us are doing it without a group so you're in good company.

Salacious 2lb is a great first week loss Grin. I've often wondered why pasta/potatoes/rice are unlimited but bread isn't. I assume that it's down to the fact that it is too easy to eat large quantities of bread and you're probably less likely to have 1/3 superfree with a bread-based meal.

Good day today:

B - Fruit and yogurt
L - Ryvita (HeB) with f/f cottage cheese and salmon. Salad on the side.
D - Rice with slow cooked veggie chilli.

Have plenty of fruit lined up for snacks.

Blondeshavemorefun · 03/06/2013 14:08

Blue goddess. Well done for sticking to it and losing weight. They say the losing is easy - it's the keeping off that's hard

10years ago I lost 4st on ww and sadly put 99% of it back on over the years - had a rough time 2yrs ago and lost it but then gained again

Grrrrrrr

Lollipop - I do have a&b sometimes for breakie but then end up having a meal that has b again - grrrr

Maybe have weetabix and skim Tom with banana

Are you having anything else with salmon and sw chips?

Hope you get your stone award

Beth - welcome - why did you fall out with cons 'nosey expression'

Bean - fab holiday thanks but gained 5lbs :(

I've wondered about bread as well

Weird you can eat other cards freely but not bread as tbh having 2 800g of bread via a sandwich and fruit is an average lunch for me before sw

I avoid bread and sandwiches if I can now :(
