QUICK POLL Did your 6mo sleep through the night?

justme27 · 07/03/2008 18:11

I've started a couple of other posts re this - I'm now confused as to whether to start sleep training or not and whether its teething, growth spurt etc etc

SO - quick question....

DID YOUR LO SLEEP THROUGH THE NIGHT AT 6 MONTHS? By sleep through I mean 7/8pm until at least 5am??

Yes or No would be great along with times....

no, first time at 13 months 7 - 5 but only a handful of times since. There's always something

justme27 · 07/03/2008 20:26

Botbot - am in exactly the same position!!

Thanks everyone! Gonna see how the poll goes - work out the majority and then decide what to do with my lo!!

She was sleeping through until a month or some ago so she can do it I know she can!!

Yes - 7.30pm - 7.15am

(actually they both did this from 3months....)

dooneygirl · 07/03/2008 20:34

DS-- No, not until 11 months.

DD--Ha ha ha ha, NO, NO WAY, NEVER. She's 2 1/2 and still doesn't.

trockodile · 07/03/2008 20:35

Yes-I woke him for 10:30pm feed from 2 months, at 5 months he started refusing it and going 7-7. Always. And 3-4 hours in day! LOVED his cot!

Mung · 07/03/2008 20:36

DS yes from 2 months
DD no...11 months and still no sign of a full night sleep

IndigoMoon · 07/03/2008 20:36

DD - YES slept through from couple of weeks old!!!

DS - no no and no again!!! he would tease us and do one night and we would think yay we have cracked it. in the end we gave up cos it was only once a night. then all of a sudden we realised he had not woken up during the night for a week and yay!!! he was about 7 ish months. he still gets up sometiems now (15 months) but its teething or when he is poorly

Tea71 · 07/03/2008 20:40

Yes, slept 7-7 when 24 weeks - would scream and not take her dream feed, so stopped waking her for it. Didn't have to do anything horrible like cc.
but she was a "contented little baby" (and still is)!

singersgirl · 07/03/2008 20:43

DS1 - no. We did controlled crying at 7 months when I went bac to work. DS2 - yes, from about 10 weeks.

somersetmum · 07/03/2008 20:43

ds - no. dd - yes.
But ds(10) cracked it at around 8 mo and has never been a problem since. dd, on the other hand, has perfected the art of sleep talking/shouting. Tis a pain in the *rse. She will call out 'Mum!!', I go in and she says 'Go away, I'm trying to sleep.'

IdrisTheDragon · 07/03/2008 20:44

DS yes from about 15 weeks with dreamfeed when i went to bed (about 10:30). Probably didn't need dreamfeed for as long as I gave it, but liked my sleep

DD - no . Sleeps through more often than not now (2.5) but was nowhere near at 6 months

TheFallenMadonna · 07/03/2008 20:45

Nope

and

nope

Thomcat · 07/03/2008 20:45

Well DD1 was, she was sleeping from 7pm to 7am

DD2 - yes. Was back at work by 6 months and was not gettign up at night so she was aother 7pm - 7am.

DD3 - is 5 months old now and still in with me and still feeding at 7pm, 11.30ish, 3ish and 5ish. Hmmmmmmm. Just as well I have a year off this time round.

no

At 6 months he was sleeping 7-7 but feeding about 2.30 and 5.30 I think. Hard to remember now!

WriggleJiggle · 07/03/2008 22:17

dd1 - Not until she was about 11 months old
dd2 - (5 months) sleeps 9pm til 7 or 8am, and has done since she was about 3 and a half months . Tis obviously my excellent parenting skills (I like to think).

SisterSputnik · 07/03/2008 22:17

No.
X2

StealthPolarBear · 07/03/2008 22:18

i think he might have done a couple of times.
By 7 mo it had all gone tits up again

Novicecamper · 07/03/2008 22:23

Yes - all 3 boys slept through very, very early. Even as babies just days old they would sleep really well, feed and go straight back off to sleep again. We very, very rarely had a night of pacing the carpet with them.

V.v.lucky or spectacularly good at parenting babies

Novicecamper · 07/03/2008 22:23

At 6 months none of them were feeding in the middle of the night - deffo.

funnyhaha · 07/03/2008 22:28

no x 2 (assuming by sleeping through you mean all night rather than 5 hrs)

Novicecamper · 07/03/2008 22:33

Right, just looked up in their diaries:

Ds1 - at 7 weeks sleeping from 11.30 to 7.30 and at 10 weeks and 4 days diary entry - sleeping from 7pm to 8am.

Ds2 - 12 weeks old, sleeping from 7 till 11 having a quick feed then sleeping again until 7am, 5 months - sleeping from 7 till 7 or 8am.

Ds3 - 3 months old sleeping from 7.15ish to 7am.

I don't think this is particularly normal though - I remember the rest of my antenatal group thinking it was quite amazing anyway!!

MadamePlatypus · 07/03/2008 22:40

Its all a bit hazy, but I think both slept till about 5 at around 4 months, then it went pear shaped at around 5 months when teething started. DS then started to sleep through again most nights at about 8 months and DD at about 13 months.

Both were still feeding during night at 6 months. DS weaned at 4 months, DD at 6, but this didn't make much difference as far as I could see.

Kindersurpise · 07/03/2008 22:42

DD: God, yes. From about 13 weeks

DS: No chance. From about 2.5yo.

bunnysgirl · 08/03/2008 08:09

yep from 13 weeks sorry!!!!!
