Sleep regression. Anyone else want to join!? Sleepless mums!

Currently going through what I believe could be a four month sleep regression? For ages my son slept really well didn't wake up in the night and if he did it was for one bottle then slept. Most nights slept 9:30pm till about 8am next day.
Has alllllllllll gone out the window the past week 🤣 I always knew the good sleep wouldn't last long and I appreciated it when it did but it's kinda making me feel extremely tired now including my partner🥱
How long does it last?? Will it go on for months?? Will I ever have a 8-8 again? 😥😥🤣
The strange thing is if he wakes up. As soon as I place him onto my bed and pillow he sleeps. So if it was a sleep regression surely he would wake also in my bed?

@Mytigerhasstripyfeet mine was up every hour too and decided at 5am he wasn't going back to sleep. Currently rocking in the pram to see if I can get a nap on the couch, exhausted

Mytigerhasstripyfeet · 02/12/2021 08:58

@ayylauren did you manage to get any rest? How long has your little one been sleeping badly?

@CiabattaKat just seen your post. Every 30m is intense 😫

LCF2021 · 02/12/2021 09:08

Gaaaad, why won’t these babies realise how good sleep is?!
I ended up co-sleeping from 2am, fed at 5am and she woke at 7am. I put her down for a nap fast asleep at 8.45am, 8.58am she woke up 😵‍💫

ayylauren · 02/12/2021 09:16

@Mytigerhasstripyfeet managed a quick cat nap on the couch while he napped in his pram!! he's never been the best sleeper but up until a couple of weeks ago he was doing 2-3 hour stretches at night regularly. He's 4 months old now and just seems to constantly wake up, every hour sometimes more. I'm hoping he settles soon but well aware it could still be weeks away. How about yours?

JammyRedRooo · 02/12/2021 10:44

@Mytigerhasstripyfeet same here, she doesnt like being put down at all!

I feel like I'm letting her down somehow by not ensuring she is getting a good nights rest but like others I've no idea what the answer is. I dont want to let her down by letting her cry either, there seems to be no middle ground.

JammyRedRooo · 02/12/2021 10:47

@jmj90 omg that's amazing! Hope you are feeling super refreshed today!!

CiabattaKat · 02/12/2021 11:55

@jmj90 congratulations on your sleep!

We were up every 20-30 mins last night until we co-slept 3-7 with a few wakings. We're about to enter week 5 of this pattern. I sobbed to my husband this morning, don't know how long we can continue. @JammyRedRooo my LO is absolutely exhausted in the day but still will only sleep 30-45 minutes for his daytime naps too, it's hell really. I have to constantly make sure he's napping every two hours so he's not overtired, feed him 4-5 bottles and now trying to squeeze in weaning which he hates Confused

Sneezymcsneezy · 02/12/2021 11:57

Girls don't feel bad, they are going through so many developments at the moment so we just have to be there for them!

@jmj90 never got anything more than 6 hours in a row so yay!

Mine was up every two hours again with an hour and half from 2-3.30am 🎊🎊🎊 although I went to bed with him at 9 and I made him (boobed him) at 7.30 to try and get another sleep cycle in, we were up at 9... I guess 12 hours of broken sleep is better than 9 hours? Grin I was so grumpy at husband yesterday as he put shit music on at 8.30, really loud without closing our bedroom door whilst he showered whilst we were winding down for the evening... needless to say he got the cold shoulder until this morning Grin

Sneezymcsneezy · 02/12/2021 12:10

ALSO, baby has somehow learnt how to roll whilst asleep. Lord help me.

I would have murdered my husband 😂 sometimes they just don't think though!! Mine drives me mad slamming doors etc whilst we are trying to wind down for bedtime! I think shhhh is my new word 😂
jmj90 · 02/12/2021 12:34

Thanks guys, could be an entirely different story tonight and he has his 16 week jabs tomorrow 😭 he reacted so badly to the Men B at 8 weeks so I'm expecting a tough few days and nights with the poor guy!

Sneezymcsneezy · 02/12/2021 12:56

@jmj90 oh yeah the 8 week jabs were rooooough, everyone else got a sleeper whereas mine was just inconsolable during the day and up every hour at night. His 16 week jabs were much better i.e. still awake every two hours 😂

That's really good to know, was your LO more settled after the second Men B then? My boy was the same at 8 weeks, cried pretty much all day which is so unlike him it was horrible to see!

Sneezymcsneezy · 02/12/2021 15:03

@jmj90 deffo more settled compared to the 8 week, temperature was slightly raised like last time so just kept on top of the Calpol but aside from that I had the same baby Smile

JammyRedRooo · 02/12/2021 21:00

I suddenly feel like I've got a hideous cold coming- headache, sore throat and nose running like a tap. All I want to do is curl up in bed and sleep but I know it wont be that easy! DD has fallen asleep on me and I'm about to transfer her into her crib. Praying for at least a few hours sleep 🙏

Good luck tonight ladies.

Mytigerhasstripyfeet · 02/12/2021 21:03

@ayylauren he used to do 8pm-4am with a dream feed at 10pm, and then 4.30-7am. Those were the days! I'd say we've had about month of more disturbed sleep, it's gradually got worse to the point where he wakes almost hourly and tends to be up for the day at 5am. This has been going on about 2 weeks.

@JammyRedRooo we're working on the basis there isn't much we can do about it, if it's just down to biology and brain development. There's not much you can do about it. So don't feel bad. It'll get better ☺️

Partner upstairs rocking son back to sleep. I did try singing to him and patting his chest, which worked... for 10m! Was surprised it worked at all so might give it another go later to see if he will settle before picking him up.

Sure I'll be messaging at 3am haha so maybe catch some of you later ☺️

jmj90 · 02/12/2021 23:39

So as expected last night was a one off. Went down at 7:45 tonight, woke at 11 and BF him to sleep. Popped him in the crib and he woke straight back up, rocked him and got him to sleep again and now he's in the crib, half asleep and fidgeting! I'm hoping he drifts back off!

How's everyone's nights going so far? Xx

jmj90 · 02/12/2021 23:40

@Sneezymcsneezy that's so reassuring to hear! I'm hoping we have the same muck tomorrow! Xx

pinkgin1 · 03/12/2021 00:11

@jmj90
Lo fell asleep half 7 just woke up for a bottle, falling asleep again. Has also slept in his cot no issues yet. Hoping he is starting to get out of the regression 🤞🤞

jmj90 · 03/12/2021 03:10

Oooo fingers crossed for you @pinkgin1 💙 we are back on every 3 hours, but to be fair his nappy leaked, frustrating as he is between sizes!!

JammyRedRooo · 03/12/2021 03:20

My DD woke up at 11 after finally falling asleep in my arms at 9. DH then held her until 2 so I could get a stretch but my brain felt so wired I didn't sleep well. Been up with her since. This is hell I honestly could burst into tears.

jmj90 · 03/12/2021 03:26

Oh @JammyRedRooo I really feel for you sweetheart, there is a reason they use sleep deprivation as a form of torture 😣 it's awful that your feeling so exhausted, even more frustrating when you can't switch off your mind. It's great your partner is helping, my DH hasn't helped with nights since LO was a newborn!! Tbh I kicked him out the bedroom as his snoring wakes me and LO up (even more than we already are!). Try pop some headphones in and do some guided meditation, you'll be asleep in no time! Xx

ayylauren · 03/12/2021 03:57

@pinkgin1 fingers crossed for you! GrinMy LO went down at 8.30 after over an hour n half of trying. He did the usual about 2 hours but has been up every hour since, and im struggling to get him back down right now Confused

Mytigerhasstripyfeet · 03/12/2021 04:08

@ayylauren I’m up too! How are you getting on?

It’s taken an hour, nappy change, feed and bounce but mine has just dropped off.

The stressful thing is he’ll probably be awake at 5am and ready to play.

@jmj90 that’s not ideal about your dh not helping. Does it bother you?

ayylauren · 03/12/2021 06:56

@Mytigerhasstripyfeet he falls asleep super easy on the boob it's just putting him in his crib that's the problem!! I'm getting used to being up every hour but when he won't go back down that's when it gets tough😢

Mine is exactly the same, DP changed him at 5.30 and he wouldn't go back down then. He's had 10 mins on his play mat and I've rocked him back to sleep, so frustrating.

If he wakes up too much it's like he decides he HAS to go downstairs. Tried to keep him up there and it was a screaming match so I just gave up
