Sleep regression. Anyone else want to join!? Sleepless mums!

Currently going through what I believe could be a four month sleep regression? For ages my son slept really well didn't wake up in the night and if he did it was for one bottle then slept. Most nights slept 9:30pm till about 8am next day.
Has alllllllllll gone out the window the past week 🤣 I always knew the good sleep wouldn't last long and I appreciated it when it did but it's kinda making me feel extremely tired now including my partner🥱
How long does it last?? Will it go on for months?? Will I ever have a 8-8 again? 😥😥🤣
The strange thing is if he wakes up. As soon as I place him onto my bed and pillow he sleeps. So if it was a sleep regression surely he would wake also in my bed?

@CiabattaKat Arrrgh, treat yourself to some coffee and cake today! We had another battle getting mine down to bed. She was waking every 5-10 mins from 7.15 until 9pm but eventually managed from 9-1am, then up at 3.30am and couldn’t be settled so came into our bed, fed at 4.30am and up at 7.45am. She woke me up by stroking my face, with the occasional scratch from her sharp talons 😂

CiabattaKat · 01/12/2021 09:46

That sounds so tough, I know how you feel. It's amazing that we survive this! We have random nights where he sleeps like that and we think he's getting better but then he goes straight back to waking 20+ times. He's 7 months old in 2 days, 6 months was the worst part for all of us yet Brew

LCF2021 · 01/12/2021 10:08

@CiabattaKat for my son the worst bit was 4-6 months. It was hell. Literally wake ups every 45 mins every single night and I was so broken. We ended up doing some sleep training once he was in his own room but it did involve a lot of crying. We stayed with him to comfort him but it was hard!

CiabattaKat · 01/12/2021 10:30

I think we may have to go down that route once he's over his cold, how long did it take you? @LCF2021 he's such a loving little boy it's hard to hear him cry, he's so happy to see me every time he wakes up lol

Sneezymcsneezy · 01/12/2021 10:52

@LCF2021 @CiabattaKat it's so hard isn't it, I think he gave me a three hour stretch between 2 and 5 yesterday but I could have been hallucinating... Up every hour at least before and after Cake☕ we would do sleep training if he isn't better after we are both back at work, can't imagine what it would be like if we had a toddler in tow..

StickyStickyStickStickSong · 01/12/2021 11:02

DS had a better night than previous night.
I had him in with me didn't even try him in his own room. He wriggled a few times and cried out but stayed asleep. His cough his so horrible and I can tell his throat is sore because when he's babbling it sounds so hoarse bless him 😢
This morning I didn't attempt his porridge I just gave him a bottle which he had only half of, 5 minutes later a coughing fit followed by the whole lot coming back up all over both of us !!
Going to keep him topped up on milk and calpol today. It's heart breaking 🥺
Wish I could take it off him!
He's just fell asleep on me now for a nap so I'm having a coffee and gonna put last nights I'ma celeb on see if it was any good

LCF2021 · 01/12/2021 11:22

@CiabattaKat It took a couple of weeks as we went down the gradual retreat route so as not to leave him upset but at times it barely made any difference us being in the room, he would just consistently scream…it was very very hard so I think this time we’d try a different route.
@Sneezymcsneezy everything is so much harder with a toddler too isn’t it? I don’t have time to practice cot naps with baby as I can’t leave my 2.5 year old for 30 mins at a time while I’m trying to settle her. Baby also gets VERY loud when she’s upset when trying to get her down at night and I’m so panicked she’ll wake up my son

CiabattaKat · 01/12/2021 11:45

@LCF2021 it's very hard to hear them cry, he'll settle for me if I'm touching him or shushing but he just struggles a lot on his own, he did sleep pretty well before he turned 6 months. I feel quite low about it all, I feel like a prisoner in my own home! People keep telling me it'll improve but when the weeks drag on it's hard to believe that

LCF2021 · 01/12/2021 12:01

@CiabattaKat I absolutely know the feeling, it’s awful. However I know second time around that it really does pass but I must admit even though I’m in the thick of it now it does as though I’ll never sleep again. It just takes time, my son didn’t sleep through regularly until he was 11 months whilst I had friends with magical babies who slept through from 5 months 🙄

LCF2021 · 01/12/2021 13:14

One of those days when baby will only nap in the carrier. It’s 1pm and I’ve already done 12,000 steps 😂 someone pass the biscuits!

JammyRedRooo · 01/12/2021 17:19

Argh haven't checked in here for a while! Glad to see some of you are getting some decent chunks of sleep. It's been a bit of a mixed bag with us - we have had a couple of good nights and some less so. Last night I was up every 2 hours which is better than every 45 minutes but still painful especially now it's so chilly at night!

I'd love for some consistency but I'm trying to appreciate the good nights when we get them for now.

Has anyone got any good tips for getting babies to nap in the cot/moses during the day? My back is in bits at the moment from all the walks in the sling but it's all that seems to work atm and good naps seem to roughly translate to good night sleep !

I was at a friends last week and she just popped her DS in his basket after his feed and off he went to sleep just like that! I was Shock

Sneezymcsneezy · 01/12/2021 18:07

@JammyRedRooo just keep on trying. Initially it was my bed with a ninja roll away then crib with my PJs with everything the internet tells you to do (white noise, dark room etc), then it was just plonk him down without any of this and it's fine now. All used to be fed to sleep then transfer but now it's sway/rock to sleep then transfer, none of this awake but drowsy BS

pinkgin1 · 01/12/2021 21:53

Been asleep since 8, so far so good

My LO has also been asleep since 7pm... fingers crossed for a good night!!

Whywontitname · 01/12/2021 22:45

Can I join? I had a horrendous 6 weeks with the 5 month sleep regression then he took a dummy and it got better, now he’s rolling and it got worse so I put him in the sleepyhead now it’s just all round awful and can’t put him down. Yay. He went down for an hour earlier, took me an hour to get him down and he went to sleep for half an hour. Fun ahead

JammyRedRooo · 02/12/2021 00:12

Just had our first waking since 9pm. Took me an hour to get her to sleep. I know it's a big improvement but kind of frustrating when she used to do a 6-8 hour chunk of sleep before her first wakeup!

Wishing you all a restful not too awful night Brew

CiabattaKat · 02/12/2021 00:12

We've been awake every 30 mins since 7. Can't continue like it for much longer

LCF2021 · 02/12/2021 01:19

Up here too although amazingly she stayed down from 7.15pm, with only one small resettle at about 8.30pm. I’m not expecting too much from here on out though. She’ll likely end up in our bed starfishing in the middle!

ayylauren · 02/12/2021 03:08

we're up every hour as well, so crap, doesn't it feel like they wait for you to fall asleep and then wake up 🙄🙄

JammyRedRooo · 02/12/2021 04:47

Up every hour since midnight here too.

I've not slept a wink as when she falls asleep shes on me for the first 15 mins then once I've transferred her to the crib my brain stays on high alert waiting for the next one. Sleep when the baby sleeps is a load of shite!

Mytigerhasstripyfeet · 02/12/2021 04:56

Hi! Can I join too?

LO is 4.5m and waking every 45m to 1.5h or so. Just rocking him back to sleep! Would write more but... knackered!

JammyRedRooo · 02/12/2021 05:08

Does anyone else feel bad at the thought of how knackered their baby must be? As rubbish as it is for me I can at least understand what's happening. DD just gets more and more upset and cranky with each waking and I just wish her body would let her have a decent nights sleep for her not just for me.

ayylauren · 02/12/2021 05:11

@JammyRedRooo I know right! It's like you know you're gunna be up soon anyway so brain is like why bother Confused

jmj90 · 02/12/2021 05:22

Omg!! My LO has just done 7-5 Shock First sleep through in 3 weeks!! I'm praying this continues but I'm doubtful!!!

Mytigerhasstripyfeet · 02/12/2021 05:32

Aaaand he's awake again!

@JammyRedRooo yes I totally feel bad for my son. He'd so clingy in the day and I'm sure it's because he's sleep deprived. How does yours get on in the daytime?
