Currently going through what I believe could be a four month sleep regression? For ages my son slept really well didn't wake up in the night and if he did it was for one bottle then slept. Most nights slept 9:30pm till about 8am next day.
Has alllllllllll gone out the window the past week 🤣 I always knew the good sleep wouldn't last long and I appreciated it when it did but it's kinda making me feel extremely tired now including my partner🥱
How long does it last?? Will it go on for months?? Will I ever have a 8-8 again? 😥😥🤣
The strange thing is if he wakes up. As soon as I place him onto my bed and pillow he sleeps. So if it was a sleep regression surely he would wake also in my bed?

@StickyStickyStickStickSong we have the same baby 😅

So I’m joining this thread now after lurking and saving it for when the 4 month sleep regression hit…which it did last night. Our DD has slept through night for average 10hrs and no feed ( EBF - won’t take a bottle of anything or dummy) since 7 weeks. She’s nursed to sleep at bedtime only. She’s chill/content and normally only cries if tired or has trapped wind.

Naps were pretty crap a few weeks ago but last week I made a break through with napping in the next to me with abit of white noise and some story time and even my DF had success too. Fast forward to yesterday -she was crabbit, had to nurse her to sleep for all naps just to get her to sleep and then she was awake from 2am-3.40am - nothing would settle her except the boob which I didn’t want to do because of associations ( I know we do the feed before bed like this but we’ll pick that battle for another time). Then 4.45-5.30 she was up again but managed to drift off with white noise, patting and shushing.

She’s currently napping 1hr 30 and counting and self settled after a few minutes of crying because she was raging it was nap time. White noise on and i sat beside her ignoring her…felt bad but it worked as she wasn’t crying due to nappy, feed, wind etc just that she has FOMO.

We watch for wake windows and sleep cues. She’s feed every 2-3 hrs so about 7 feeds a day and we do play gym and tummy time ( she’s only getting better at this). She’s definitely trying to roll so I know this is part and parcel of the course.

Any tips on how to navigate it as FTP then fire away - it’s just me and DF so we can't easily catchup on sleep ( his family in diff country and mine can’t help due to illness/caring responsibilities). Hoping it doesn’t last weeks and weeks!

@Sneezymcsneezy yep! The same! Rubbish!
Think he is still getting over the covid though, so that doesn't help. I'm over it completely now.
Just tired from these constant wakings

So I can't bf today as I've had some medicine for a procedure, usually when he does his 7am wake I boob him back to sleep for longer... Any advice? 😅

pinkgin1 · 13/01/2022 19:42

Can you get formula? X

@MintGreenLife thanks, we did make it back safely in the end even with a 40 minute delay on the M4 thrown in. I'm convinced she's currently rocking the ultimate combination of teething, a cold, just learning to crawl and 8 month sleep regression in one. The picture for the last four days has been resisting napping in the day in general (maybe has 2x30 min naps so definitely not long enough for her age really) and then at night she goes down fine at 7:30, then wakes around 9:30pm and from that point on it's wake ups all through the night every 1-1.5 hours. It's also a lucky dip with each as to whether she goes back to sleep in 10 mins or 1 hour. The only constant is that when I do make it back to bed I know I'll be up again in 90 minutes or less. It's getting to the point where I feel mildly deranged. I had a plumber out to quote for me yesterday and I couldn't remember the word ceiling so just pointed upwards and said "that thing". 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

Will he sleep with rocking? Most of the time DD wants a feed but sometimes she will resettle with rocking (or a dummy is another option that might help? We swore we'd never use one with our DD and I have to confess it's been a lifesaver).
StickyStickyStickStickSong · 13/01/2022 21:24

@Sneezy have u expressed any for freezer? Xx

mummabubs · 13/01/2022 21:35

And as predicted, we're now on wake up number one of an estimated 1746 tonight 🤦🏻‍♀️

pinkgin1 · 13/01/2022 21:43

@mummabubs same here!! 3 wake ups already. Gonna be a long night 🙄🙏🙏

@pinkgin1 @StickyStickyStickStickSong yeah got formula, it's more the power of boob settles him back to sleep as opposed to him being hungry. Gonna be a long night of trying to settle him without it.. I managed to get him to sleep after 7 minutes of screaming and him sucking on my arm as it is the last step of our usual routine the poor mite

mummabubs · 13/01/2022 22:05

Solidarity five @PinkGin1 🖐🏻 Hope you manage to get some sleep, hope is all we have eh! Your username is making me seriously want a bedtime G&T but I'm not sure if that's frowned upon in the general parenting world. 😂

Ijustneedtosleep21 · 13/01/2022 22:18

Oh can I join this. We've just regressed constantly since the 4m regression. A normal night is 2-3 wake up before I've even got into bed and another 4-5-6 once I'm in bed.

She did 2 nights of only waking twice last week now is horrendous again.

Just turned 9m. I also haven't slept since I was 4m pregnant as was up every 2 hours. Sleep deprivation has broken me.

pinkgin1 · 13/01/2022 22:40

@Sneezymcsneezy I hope you have some luck. My son has woken so many times since 8:30 I've lost count now
Sleeps on me but won't allow me to sit down so constantly walking to and fro
@mummabubs I'm with you on that!! Although I think if we had a drink each time this happened we'd all be in trouble 🤣

Aghhhh how much longer is this gonna last 😬😬

Welcome to the thread , can definitely agree we are all completely struggling here too with the no sleep and broken sleep! You aren't alone! As you can tell 😅🤦🏻‍♀️

@Ijustneedtosleep21 , has there been no improvement at all? Seeing you say it's gone on since then makes me think my son will be the same 🤦🏻‍♀️

No. I've had 3 'better' nights since 4m but they're all random and then she's horrendous the following night m!

@Sneezy ahh got ya! It's more for comfort,Unless he takes a dummy there's not much else you can do is there. I normally hold mine close to my chest and wrap him up and stroke his face with his comforter.
Hope you managed anyway maybe whilst you're on the medication and can't boob him maybe he will learn to settle another way for ya 🤞 xx

LCF2021 · 15/01/2022 07:36

How’s everyone getting on? We had a 5.30am start here! Although she did sleep from 7.30pm with a dream feed at 11.30pm and no other wake ups so it’s good progress…just need her to sleep a bit later.

Sneezymcsneezy · 15/01/2022 09:02

@LCF2021 oh my goodness! Sounds like the sleep consultant worked their magic??

iloveayankeecandle · 15/01/2022 09:39

@LCF2021 what sleep consultant did you use??

LCF2021 · 15/01/2022 09:50

@Sneezymcsneezy We’ve seen such improvement in just 5 days. It’s still a bit inconsistent but it’s good to have a bit of structure as well as having someone to email to ask questions if the day hasn’t really gone to plan.

Ijustneedtosleep21 · 15/01/2022 10:07

Just woke up as DH is home from working away for the weekend so I handed him the baby at 7am and went back to bed. 4 wake ups last night which is better than 6 I suppose. But I didn't get to sleep til midnight as just get anxiety going to bed now about the night ahead!

Sneezymcsneezy · 15/01/2022 12:51

@LCF2021 the last two nights have been so much better... Cos we've put him on a king size bed! I have a feeling he might need a floor bed instead of his cot.. how much did the sleep consultant cost? We are considering still
