Currently going through what I believe could be a four month sleep regression? For ages my son slept really well didn't wake up in the night and if he did it was for one bottle then slept. Most nights slept 9:30pm till about 8am next day.
Has alllllllllll gone out the window the past week 🤣 I always knew the good sleep wouldn't last long and I appreciated it when it did but it's kinda making me feel extremely tired now including my partner🥱
How long does it last?? Will it go on for months?? Will I ever have a 8-8 again? 😥😥🤣
The strange thing is if he wakes up. As soon as I place him onto my bed and pillow he sleeps. So if it was a sleep regression surely he would wake also in my bed?

@JammyRedRooo ah really well that reassures me that I'm not the only one having this pattern! Thank you, Yeah think I will start going to bed the same time too x

LCF2021 · 08/01/2022 13:21

Wasn’t horrendous last night. She went to bed at 7.30, didn’t wake until 12.45am, fed and back asleep until 4am, another feed and asleep until 5am but then wouldn’t settle so she came into our bed.
I hate how inconsistent naps are too. Yesterday she napped for almost two hours in her cot in the morning. Today she did 40 mins. Tried to put her down for her second nap and she wasn’t having any of it so I’m now stuck under a sleeping baby in a dark room while DH entertains DS. Must admit nap fails are much much harder to deal with second time around.

Blabbyoak · 08/01/2022 13:28

@MintGreenLife sending you hugs xx

pinkgin1 · 08/01/2022 13:31

My son has covid now. He did not sleep at all last night not even for ten minutes so I am shattered. I expect tonight to be the same , feel so bad for him. His temp went to 39.2 and was crying a lot couldn't put him down:(

Oh @pinkgin1 poor little guy, that sounds horrific. Has he been able to nap today? Surely he'll have to sleep at some point. Poor you, hoping you'll get some rest.

MintGreenLife · 08/01/2022 15:34

@Blabbyoak thank you, I thought the hourly wakeups were bad enough, but now we seem to have progressed to every 30 mins 🤦🏻‍♀️ We started weaning today. Doing the baby-led approach, so he didn’t have much, but will be interested to see as he has a little more if it helps sleep at all 🤷🏻‍♀️ He’s also refusing a bottle, so going to try with a doidy cup to see if having a bit of formula a day might help. Who knows 😂

MintGreenLife · 08/01/2022 15:34

@pinkgin1 poor thing, and poor you! So sorry to hear this. Really hope he gets better quickly xx

LCF2021 · 08/01/2022 15:54

@pinkgin1 oh no! Poor thing. Hope he’s OK and you too xx

pinkgin1 · 08/01/2022 16:17

@Mytigerhasstripyfeet he's had a few naps but they are very short. Just hope he sleeps a bit better tonight.
@MintGreenLife thank you x hopefully recovers fast
@LCF2021 thank you hopefully it doesn't last much longer x

My baby is 4 weeks old and she was doing so well at night but last night it all changed. She woke at 12, 2, 4, 5 and 7 Sad. I think she has approached her first leap so I hope this misery isn't for long. My husband returns to work since her birth on Monday so I'll be even more responsible for night time wake ups to enable him to concentrate at work

Jess9898 · 08/01/2022 17:20

@pinkgin1 oh no hope he and you are both okay! Fingers crossed for more sleeps tonight.

@NatMoz hopefully she will fall back to her old routine shortly! I do the night feeds as my boyfriend is back at work, lack of sleep is the norm now haha fresh air and coffee helps!! X

StickyStickyStickStickSong · 08/01/2022 19:15

@pinkgin1 sorry to hear LO has covid 🤞 hope it doesn't affect him much xx

BadgerBum · 08/01/2022 19:39

@pinkgin1 So sorry to hear that, I hope he’s ok and that you all recover quickly!

Mytigerhasstripyfeet · 08/01/2022 21:11

We might need a new thread soon guys. That's a little depressing, so many sleepless nights 🙄

Blabbyoak · 08/01/2022 22:08

Ergh.... ds has spiked a fever this evening 37.8 so not too high but here's all the hard work going out of the window tonight now.

JammyRedRooo · 09/01/2022 04:07

Oh @pinkgin1 I'm so sorry Flowers hope he is alright.

@LCF2021 I struggle with the inconsistent naps too. Trying to wean her off needing the constant motion of either the pram or the carrier to sleep so I've been taking her out in the pram for 30 mins and then bringing her home and parking her in the kitchen. Sometimes she wakes immediately but a few times shes stayed there asleep for hours. Strange little beings.

Mytigerhasstripyfeet · 09/01/2022 09:54

How did everyone's nights go? Hope the sleep training has been going well?

Sorry to hear about the temperature @Blabbyoak is he poorly?

Ours wasn't too bad, up 3 times between 11pm-6am but only briefly. Partner got up with LO at 6 and I stayed in bed until almost 8, which was lovely 🙂

@NatMoz I think mine went through a 2wk phase of sleeping badly around that time...DS was so bad partner and I had to do shifts through the night. Think it was trapped wind in DS's case, seems like ages ago now! But it didn't last long. Hope you had a better night.

LCF2021 · 09/01/2022 10:47

@Mytigerhasstripyfeet Ours was rough. She went to bed at 7.30pm, up at 11.50pm and wouldn’t settle back to bed so came into our bed where she proceeded to wake crying every 30 mins. This morning she went for a nap and woke after 30 mins. I absolutely despair her sleep. I spend all day trying to get her to sleep and I just can’t continue when I have my toddler around, it isn’t fair on him.

BadgerBum · 09/01/2022 11:11

@Mytigerhasstripyfeet Our evening was a bit mixed - she fell asleep really fast which was amazing but she woke after an hour and we had an hour or so of crying and unsettledness. I was worried it was her teeth bothering her but actually I think it was the night four ‘extinction burst’, because she did drop back off after a cuddle (even that’s impressive as that wouldn’t have worked a week ago!) and then woke at 11:30 and 3:30 for feeds, so all in all still an improvement!

Naps are a different story!

JammyRedRooo · 10/01/2022 01:08

So DH said he would do the night wakeups over the weekend as no work and I'm stopping BF. Great for me as I got some much needed rest however there basically weren't any wake ups! For 3 nights shes done 8:30-4, quick feed then back down.

Well I'm back on the nights again tonight as DH back to work and guess what? Up every 1-2 hours. I don't understand 😩😩

MintGreenLife · 10/01/2022 02:12

Having such a bad night here 😭 Moved DS into his own room/cot, but as he’s a few days off 6 months we’ve set out a little single bed on the floor of his nursery. Got him down at 7.30pm, which is amazing in itself as used to hold him until 11pm-ish, but he was waking every half hour. Fed him at 11.45pm, took another hour to get him back down again and he slept 40 mins. Haven’t been able to get him down since, tried 6 times and he just wakes as soon as I put him down. Trying feeding again now. I’m meant to be starting back at work part time tomorrow and I have absolutely no clue how I’m going to manage it. Everything we’re trying makes absolutely no difference 😢

Sneezymcsneezy · 10/01/2022 13:18

@MintGreenLife 😢 it sounds so awful, he might be just getting used to the transition! The first couple of days at least I just ended up sleeping in the room with him at night because of the constant up and down. I'm just hoping it gets slightly better soon, at least on my side it's every 1.5 - 3 hours, which believe it or not, is something I'm happy to live with, even when I do go back to work 😅

@JammyRedRooo you know what, I think it's cos the babies know we have boob. Whenever I go in he's always rooting for milk, but when his dad goes in its 5-10 minutes max.

Sleepymama285 · 10/01/2022 13:25

Hey all! Sorry been absent for a few days, we've been in the depths of sleep training! @MintGreenLife We were in a similar situation with the constant wakes as soon as she was put down. It is utterly brutal, so sending lots of sympathy and solidarity. Sleep training has been quite emotionally tough for me and has involved a fair bit of crying from LO (although never being left alone to cry) but I have to say it does seem to be helping our sleep situation. I think for my LO going to sleep in the place she will wake up is a huge thing and that's why feeding/rocking wasn't working for us anymore. Could be similar for you maybe @MintGreenLife? Anyway hope everyone is doing ok. Sorry to hear about some tough nights and also about your LO having Covid @pinkgin1 - hope all on the mend now. Keep fighting the good fight everyone!!

@sleepymama285 what training methods are you using? Can you talk me through your progress?
MintGreenLife · 10/01/2022 21:32

@Sneezymcsneezy I’ve been doing the same and camping out on the nursery floor. We bailed on the nursery and he’s back in our room 🤦🏻‍♀️ Probably won’t make a blind bit of difference!

Thanks @Sleepymama285 do you mind me asking what sleep training you did? I was actually advised today by the HV to try putting him down awake instead. Obviously that didn’t go down well and resulted in a two hour battle to get him to sleep as he was so over tired/cross with us 😭
