Sleep regression. Anyone else want to join!? Sleepless mums!

Currently going through what I believe could be a four month sleep regression? For ages my son slept really well didn't wake up in the night and if he did it was for one bottle then slept. Most nights slept 9:30pm till about 8am next day.
Has alllllllllll gone out the window the past week 🤣 I always knew the good sleep wouldn't last long and I appreciated it when it did but it's kinda making me feel extremely tired now including my partner🥱
How long does it last?? Will it go on for months?? Will I ever have a 8-8 again? 😥😥🤣
The strange thing is if he wakes up. As soon as I place him onto my bed and pillow he sleeps. So if it was a sleep regression surely he would wake also in my bed?

Was a shit night last night again
The machine definitely helps with naps and he also slept three hours without waking but he's up so many times
I think I need to accept this is just how it's gonna be for
A while

@pinkgin1 same here, half hour wake ups from around 1am (again)
I'm also just trying to give up and accept it is what it is for now. Just feel like a horrible moody miserable cow sometimes

@Mytigerhasstripeyfeet our routine is a bath every night, he gets in with me if DP is home but if he's working it's in his baby bath. Then if he's calm and happy we'll do a little massage and read a book. Then feed to sleep. Disclaimer this is the ideal routine and only sometimes does it go down like this.

LCF2021 · 13/12/2021 19:24

@Mytigerhasstripyfeet We do a bath, into pjs and sleeping bag, short story, feed and cuddle. Used to feed her to sleep but she now immediately wakes up the moment she’s put down so I cuddle her with lots of swaying with the idea of settling her in the next2me. We’ve been trying this for the last week or so. It can take a long time (1hr+) or only 15 mins like last night 🤷‍♀️ I roll her on to her side, have white noise playing and very very dim light and constantly stroke her back and have the other hand on her front. She needs picking up and cuddling at least 3 or 4 times before she goes to sleep and even then I’ve no idea if she’ll wake up 10 mins later or have a decent stretch.

Fran919 · 13/12/2021 19:49

Thank you all for the welcome.

I’ve bitten the bullet today and taken away the dummy, I feel awful but she’s not cried for it only a little whinge and was easily distracted by her toys in the day. Oddly, she’s had no hiccups today, whether it’s a coincidence or not I don’t know 🤷‍♀️
She went for a naps without it and took a little bit of patting, the same amount as with the dummy to be fair and has gone down for night time sleep too without it. I know I’ll see every hour if not more but I don’t think the dummy was helping in any way, she would ask for it and 30 seconds later spit it out and this would go on for 5 / 10 mins before she even began to settle.

Every other mum I know has always said how well their baby slept and slept through then night since 6/8/10 weeks. So glad I found this and we’re in it together with lots of coffee!

Mytigerhasstripeyfeet · 13/12/2021 19:53

Oh wow @LCF2021 that's very committed but should definitely be worth it if it helps her to settle herself eventually?

We were planning a bath every night but son's skin gets very dry even with oily ointment stuff in the water. So we do every other night, which isn't much of a routine. Have been 'dancing' though, which involves putting on something peaceful and swaying around to it, I think it helps him feel more sleepy/more accepting of lying down in my arms to be bounced.

Will eventually have to stop the bouncing and settle him in his bed. Mainly because he's getting heavy!

LCF2021 · 13/12/2021 20:04

@Mytigerhasstripyfeet She still has an awful lot of intervention from me but I’m hopeful that even with lots of stroking just falling asleep in her bed will help and ideally I’ll reduce the amount I do for her in the coming weeks. I mean, I could be posting on her in the next couple of days saying “it’s not working anymore!”

pinkgin1 · 13/12/2021 20:39

Wonder how many times it will be tonight 🤣
Good luck to you all lol 💤

Hi to the new ladies and welcome to the club! I am in serious need of moral support right now...have been trying to get LO down for 3 hours now and she is not having any of it! She's been in the crib about 10 times but just wakes after 5-10 minutes every time. So demoralising. Hope you're all having a better start to the night!!

Mytigerhasstripeyfeet · 13/12/2021 21:32

Aw that's rubbish @Sleepymama285 - 3hrs is a marathon. Has she done this before? Is your partner around to help too? Really hope she lets you get some rest tonight.

Woke up now, rocking back to sleep, anyone else's lo awake?

ayylauren · 13/12/2021 22:17

@Sleepymama285 when you put LO down are they in a deep sleep? I have to watch mine go through the stages of sleep till he's properly away in the land of nod GrinGrin

ayylauren · 13/12/2021 22:20

I can't believe it DS has just done 3 hours 15 mins before waking for a feed. This may seem small but we haven't had this in weeks. Hoping this is a good sign but trying not to get too excited!! Hope we all get some rest tonight Flowers

Mytigerhasstripeyfeet · 13/12/2021 22:31

Oh that's good @ayylauren keeping my fingers crossed for you!

One wake up here so not too bad. Hoping we'll have a decent night, especially as DP has long day tomorrow collecting his Mum for her visit. And would be nice if LO is in a good mood for his Nanny.

JimHalpertsPA · 13/12/2021 22:45

Second wake-up in 2 hrs. Basically every hr on the hr :) fun night ahead!

Is anyone one on here using a prep machine?

OP posts:
Sleepymama285 · 14/12/2021 00:19

Thanks for the messages : ) @Mytigerhasstripeyfeet Yes this seems to be a pattern recently, she's so hard to put down, although it's never been quite so bad as 3 hrs! My husband is here but when he tried rocking she went mad, so back to me!

@ayylauren That's the weird thing...she can be in a deep sleep with floppy arms etc but seems to wake anyway when put down. Maybe my crappy handling when transferring her!

Having said all that, we've just had a 3 hour block thank god!!

@ayylauren so pleased you've had a good stretch too! Hopefully a sign of things to come.

@pinkgin1 we don't use a prep machine I'm afraid. Why do you ask?

Sleepymama285 · 14/12/2021 00:22

@JimHalpertsPA hope your night improves and you get more than 1 hour...that's brutal!

ayylauren · 14/12/2021 01:11

Thanks guys means a lot up again now but he still did over an hour so feeling positive.

@Sleepymama285 isn't it funny how sometimes only mummy will do, it's lovely but sometimes when we need a break it's so tough.
Not sure what to suggest about the putting down that's a tricky one. Sometimes I only move little bits at a time, and sway very slowly into the crib, but idk if that even helps 🤷🏼‍♀️

ayylauren · 14/12/2021 01:11

@pinkgin1 aww very cozy! How is LO sleeping x

pinkgin1 · 14/12/2021 01:20

He is still asleep at the moment. @ayylauren
What about your lo?
He is moving a bit now so will wake soon I think

@pinkgin1 just put mine down again (he's been down 5 min so 🤞🏻🤞🏻) and panic bought some Christmas presents. Definitely did not realise it was next week!!

Mytigerhasstripeyfeet · 14/12/2021 02:18

I can't help but think... no one should have to bounce on an exercise ball at 2am.
