Hi everyone, mad busy at work but wanted to drop in for a quick hello and to wish all of the sickies speedy recoveries, and all of the tired mummies some lovely afternoon naps, and for snow to fall in London sometime soon so that all of the cold and wet won't be for nothing.

(((hugs)))

afternoon all, having a really crap time atm. had to put both dc in their rooms and come on here for fear of blowing my top at them! ds2 has had one nap today...surely that's too soon for an 8month old?

ds1 being really naughty today, maybe he feels i'm not giving him enuf attention, i thought i was. wish he got his nursery vouchers this coming january, sadly not for another year! i'm actually looking forward to moving and going back to work, just so i can have a break and actually be myself for a bit. as much as i lvoe being a mum, they really do my head sometimes...grrrrr. anyone wna buy 2 kids? all offers considered!!!

bambi06 · 19/11/2007 17:40

im still getting..down at 7pm awake at 12.00 then..2.00..4.00 then 5.30 then nods off till others wake him at 7.00!!1i still done iunderstand him he was doing so well at waking only once a night ..3 weeks now hes awake every two hours ..im getting desperately tired .. even if i give him a dream feed it makes no difference...sob sob..why ...oh why..

bambi06 · 19/11/2007 17:42

forgot to add he only catnaps during the day to so i can t even get some sleep during day..most ill get at a time is 45 mins but usually 1/2 hour..how does he survive!!

bealcain · 19/11/2007 18:18

bambi, i'm sure you've said. but how old is he? my ds2 didn;t sleep very much at all ,day or night till about 6months when he got 3 good naps in the day, but like i said he now seems to have dropped this to 1....crazy!

skirmish · 19/11/2007 19:57

hi all...just popping in to tell you all i had a little baby boy in the early hours of fri morning!! a teensy tiny 6lb 1oz but all healthy

we were home by midday and am now trying to get used to 2 babies!!

hopefully will get a chance to read thru what's been going on soon

gingerninja · 19/11/2007 20:07

Hi everyone, just a quickie. Feeling much better although persistent cough is driving me nuts. I coughed for a hour last night before I could settle and get any sleep and then was woken frequently for more coughing. horrid.

EP and Tibsy, your knitting sounds great. Do you take orders? I used to knit but haven't picked up the needles in ages, not sure I'd remember how.

Beal, I'm enjoying being back at work for that reason. It's nice to get some breathing space, much as you love them it's hard hard work doing it 24 hours a day.

Bambi, I don't think there are any answers other than it will get beter with time. Most of us have older DC and they're sleeping a lot lot better than they were at your lo's age. Will he sleep longer in the day if you lay down with him or hold him? That way you would get some rest too.

gingerninja · 19/11/2007 20:09

CONGRATULATIONS SKIRMISH The first SIFTW baby (lets hope he doesn't need us though )

Amberjee · 19/11/2007 20:57

cough, splutter.

have caught ginger's cold.

hi everyone though!

MegBusset · 19/11/2007 21:01

Yay Skirmish well done you!

bambi06 · 19/11/2007 21:13

lo is only 11 weeks but my other two were never this bad and here was me saying..yeah no 3 will just slot in ,itll be easy..bah.!!! [hmmm]

RoRoMommy · 20/11/2007 08:25

Beal, I hope you get a break from your DSs, I remember how tiring it was dealing with just one 24/7, and you've been dealing with loads of other stuff too, so chin up sweetie!

bambi, it's a refrain around here...it gets better, then you forget how bad it was, then you have another one...even a week of bad nights can seem like ages. You must get DP to give you a break for some sleep!

SKIRMISH! HOORAY! Congratulations. Enjoy the first few days, they're so precious.

Ginger and Amber, you poor bears. I really hope you feel better soon.

Meg, I hope your DS is less snotty today.

Tibs, anymore snow?

Tam, another sleep-through? You are the great-sleep-hope in my eyes (eek, not meaning to cast a jinx on you, really).

Okay, are you ready for this? 7:30 down, not a peep until I went to bed at 10:30, dream feed, then unsettled until midnight, but then slept through until 6am! I haven't looked at the clock and had it read outside of the 4-5am hours in weeks. HOORAY!

But work is horrid, awful, ridiculous and a pain. Working with someone I don't like who is trying to tell me how to run my deal, my boss has marginalized me and I think it's because I am part-time but it makes me feel really crap, and it's been a week since I've been able to do the work that I had to do last week! Plus Dad's visiting, so just as we got Ronan down to sleep and sat down to dinner he showed up, unannounced, for a visit, so not a moment of down time to watch ANTM!

But (a little voice says) DS slept for six hours straight!

Must go to work. (((hugs)))

congrats skirmish!

and great night with a 6 hour stretch RoRo. We had a decent night and I'm feeling slightly better today. God, I've had enough illness to last me years in the last few months. LO slept alright. Apparently he woke up at 1am for a bit but settled himseld (amazingly i didn't hear him), then up at 5 for a feed, and a bit chatty, but in his cot until 7.

charliemama · 20/11/2007 09:39

Too tired to type!!!

Will try...

Congratulations Skirmish that is such good news.

Hang in there RoRo, thursday will be here soon.

I have those days too Beal and then they do something really lovely and you forget all about it.

Hello everyone else. I can't remember anymore posts. I really am exhausted. I'm coming down with a cold (can germs be passed on the internet? ) DD was unwell in the night so this is how it went...

7 all children asleep in bed
10 DS2 wakes for feed, whilst I'm doing this DD wakes, settle both
10.30 give DD calpol
In and out of DDs room/bed until 11.45 get in DDs bed
1.15 go back to my bed (very stiff and achey)
2 DS2 wakes & feeds
5 DS2 wakes and feeds
6.30 DS2 waks closely followed by DD and DS2

I'm feeling really crappy this morning. I'm like you Bambi I thought no.3 would be easy because I know what I was doing, but he is soo much harder!!
Oh, and Dh is away again until Thurs and my Mums away today.

EffiePerine · 20/11/2007 09:41

CONGRATULATIONS SKIRMISH

Hope you're resting and recovering. That post-birth bit was a bit of a blur for me!

RoRo: fantastic night . Sorry your job isn;t going too well. Do you have any other options? Could you move sideways into a slightly different career, or is that too complicated atm?

Bambi: I know we keep saying it, but 11/12 weeks is a tough, tough time and it WILL get better. DS never really napped well in the day at that age either - the sling and buggy helped a lot but he had to be moving. Kept me fit I suppose .

Ginger: sorry you're still feeling bad. And Amber too. I went to the docs yesterday and got some antibiotics (as suspected, cough now chest infection and I'm wheezing as well as hacking away). He didn't say a word about giving up bfing though .

Our night was baaad, DS coughing and then spectacular vomit all over the bed (sigh). Me dunking screaming baby in the bath (he was covered) and DS stripping the whole bed, then finally all to sleep at about mnidnight. He did sleep till about 4am, so some good stuff in there. Hopefully it'll be better tonight. If he's still unwell tomorrow it'll mean the mmr is put off yet another week.

Hope the rest of you aren;t too depressed by all the rain. Beal: no advice - we were thinking of renting if necessary and perhaps not a bad idea if house prices stable/falling. That way you aren;t toed down to a new area and if it doesn't work out you can move with less bother.

EffiePerine · 20/11/2007 09:43

x-post CM: sounds exhausting . I syour mum back tomorrow? Could she take the kids while you have a nap?

bambi06 · 20/11/2007 09:43

thnaks everyone fo rsuport ,its nice just to have a little rant now and then isnt it and mumsnet s the place to be!! yesterday Lo slept and fed constantly .i didnt move off the sofa then hubby wondered why i was tired and going to bed at 9pm duh!! ill wake him every two hours and see how he likes it..hes in spare room!! i tried co sleeping but i didnt sleep as well and he kept feeding more than when he sin crib!! plus i got crick in my neck as my backs not the healthiest ..esp after having baby.. well done to everyone who has sleepthroughs..im so jealous one day well do it again..if only it was once a night..i could deal with that.. ive changed his top up milk again to see if that will help..fingers crossed

tibsy · 20/11/2007 10:20

charlie thats a hard night lovely. hope your mum's back soon to lend a hand.

EP youre still feeling crappy. i hope the ab's kick in soon and you feel better. poor ds, hope he's brighter soon

hang in there bambi. forget about housework, any chores that need doing and put your feet up whenever you can lovely

amber for your night and that you're feeling better

right, we're braving the drizzle to get to the library. catch you all later

MegBusset · 20/11/2007 10:32

Morning all and for Amber, Tibs and Tam's nights.

EP your night sounds like a right faff, but for the four-hour stretch.

CM hang on in there my dear.

Bambi hope your nights settle down soon.

RoRo a six-hour stretch is great!

Ours was the same old same old, coughing and waking every hour during the evening, in with me at midnight, all a tired blur after that.

I have got to go shopping in the rain this morning, as I haven't been able to take LO out for ages and my supply of frozen baby food has run out! So got to spend this afternoon cooking, but need supplies first. Gah...

ChubbyScotsBurd · 20/11/2007 11:32

Morning all. some big sleeps going on people, damn you all!

Skirmish - huge congrats to you! Hope you are resting lots .

Well done Amber (in spite of illness), Ro, Tam and tibsy . I hope EP and ginger are mending soon, nothing worse than feeling crappy and having to keep plodding on anyway. Same goes for your LO Meg . I really am in awe of you cm, coping with 3 and on your own sometimes too, I think you're doing amazingly well. And bambi, like everyone says, 12 weeks isn't the fab time people will make it out to be - it's crap, IME. It will get better (my mantra right now). RoRo, I'm sorry work is rubbish. I have to go back in a couple of months and a part of me is dreading it, although like beal I think the break will be good, as DS is so exhausting sometimes.

Back to a bad evening here - DS didn't sleep much through the day but as he'd coped so well with less sleep over the weekend I wasn't my usual up-tight self about it - big mistake! Once he eventually settled it was a bog standard night, woke a few times but I was so tired I just shook a boob at him and dozed off again ... am grateful that night weaning is a long way off!

Quick question for cosleepers - where does you DC sleep? Mine is meant to be in cot sidecar but I never stay awake long enough to return him in the night so he used to lie next to me and I had my arm sticking straight out. However, he's recently decided that feeding/sleeping with his head resting on the crook of my elbow and my hand on his bum is better, which is actually comfier for me but I worry about his neck ...

tibsy · 20/11/2007 13:06

hi meggy for your tired blur. we've just been to town before library and it was a real pita. dd just didnt want to stay in the blardy pushchair and i've lost a flaming library book somewhere ...hope your visit is more fruitful

hi csb, lol at 'shook a boob at him'!!! by sidecar cot, do you mean that lo could roll over into your bed dd sleeps in her bedside cot, but has access to me iyswim? she fell asleep in the crook of my arm this morning when she woke. often does that if she wakes in the night too. she likes a cuddle! i shouldnt worry, as long as youre both comfortable...am sure lo would let you know soon enough if he wasnt

ChubbyScotsBurd · 20/11/2007 13:18

Yes tibsy, we've shoved our bed up against his cotbed with the side removed. In practice he sleeps right next to me but I try to get him down in the cot to start with so I get some nice comfy sprawling time before he wakes.

Hope you find your library book!
