Well...I had to think of something! DH's suggestion "Eyes wide shut--the art of sleepwalking"

x posted Bambi. I know exactly how I feel which is why I've spent the last 1/2 hour saying I'm going to bed now. This time I mean it!!!

(PS Meg how do you type in bold?)

charliemama · 15/11/2007 21:30

Sorry obviously brain has already gone to bed!! Should have read I know how YOU feel!!!

I think sometimes you just have to make yourself go to bed and hope that your body gets the message.

Night Night all. See you in the morning (not too early I hope!!!)

RoRoMommy · 15/11/2007 21:31

Okay, one more thing...that's funny, CM, because sometimes I think we'll stay in London forever, and sometimes I think we'll go back because I miss home. So Ronan is kind of like you were, but he's still in London, but if we go back then he'll be like, I remember when we lived in London and we had that cool park across the street...

Okay, maybe I am hyper now. DH yelling at me to get off mn. Must go! Okay BYE!

RoRoMommy · 16/11/2007 08:22

Good morning!

DS was up every hour, on the hour for boob. I think it's the teeth, but I'll tellya what, I am KNACKERED! And I really need to do some thinking today at work and I have no idea how I am going to manage.

But I am so tired that the whole thing strikes me as funny.

Tibs GREAT NIGHT! So glad you indulged. That's so sweet.

Love you ladies, see you later!

OP posts:
Tamdin · 16/11/2007 09:01

roro for every hour i'm sure you're asleep on your feet. don't know how you work!

Tibs for your night. so sweet.

our night was slightly out of the norm as ds had very late nap 3.30-5 so we all went to bed at 9.30 and watched a bit of tv. ds got mega so at 10 turned the telly and lights off and went to sleep.

he woke at 7.30 for day

ChubbyScotsBurd · 16/11/2007 09:06

Sorry wasn't in here yesterday folks. And just a quick one today, off out in a few minutes.

Bedtime routine seems to be helping already, even if it just means DP and I stay calmer ... I think we've been feeling so much dread for evenings we've been inadvertently making them much worse. So, he's going down OK, as in, within 90 minutes, but then waking constantly. Thank heavens he's in bed with us or I'd not have had a chance to warm the sheets before getting up again last night! Serious regression ... ... but I really feel your pain charliemama and RoRo, at nearly 4 months my lad is doing the same thing as yours, up SO frequently.

Thanks for that link Tamdin, I had already seen it elsewhere and thought it was really sweet. No sign of skirmish then ...

Amberjee · 16/11/2007 09:09

Meg, I don't think babyrice would have gone down very well in our house either! atm LO is on a diet of toast, rice/spelt puffs and apples.

tibsy · 16/11/2007 09:21

roro for the teething. hopw they dont tax you too hard at work today. big (((hugs)))

tam for the sleep thru even with the late night. thats one thing i miss, watching tv in bed, along with reading in bed

hi amber

tibsy · 16/11/2007 09:22

and hi to csb for continued frequent wakings big (((hugs))) to you too xx

EffiePerine · 16/11/2007 09:32

CSB, glad the routine is helping. It makes such a difference if you get some calm time in the evenings.

RoRo: 4 teeth at once! No wonder he is waking up lots. One of DS's molars is def through but the other one is still half in and half out.

Well, Night One of SIFTW patent sleep training method last night. Aim: to not feed DS for 4 hours after I'd got him to sleep (i.e. 11pm). He went to sleep at about 7, woke twice but DH got him back to sleep again (max 5 mins angry crying), then fed at 11, 2 , 4 and 6. Not bad at all, considering our recent nights. I also tried to stop him from falling asleep while feeding, which seemed to help. Not mich crying out in the night which was great . Maybe he isready for this after all...

Thanks for th article link Tam, I saw it in the Times (I think). Great article and v reassuring.

charliemama · 16/11/2007 10:08

Morning.

Commiserations RoRo and CSB. DS2 went to bed at 7 and woke at 10, 1, 4, 5, 6, and 7.45. So I know hoew you feel.

Well done EP sounds like you're making progress.

Thanks for your continued support Tibsy your posts always make me feel a bit better about things.

Tamdin: sounds like a nice evening/night. Well done.

MegBusset · 16/11/2007 10:47

Morning all

EP, that sounds like progress to me Are you still co-sleeping, I can't remember who is and who isn't any more

I am not reporting on our nights til his cough is gone, or I'll depress myself too much! Suffice it to say that lots of mucus was involved

for those with frequent wakings, it's tough isn't it.

Tibs love your middle-of-the-night cuddling!

Amberjee · 16/11/2007 11:36

helloeveryone. i've read all teh posts, but am just too overwhelmed to make coherent responses to all of them. suffice to say we had a good night, a bit of boob at 5 and that was it, the sun is shining, love it. i've had coffee and we went to a crazy fun music class and now LO is asleep. today i actually feel good at this parenting thing (rare occurrence)

good progress EP. how was dh with it all? it's a good sign it only took 5 mins. I kind of think at this age, they can learn about what happens at night, so guess it's a matter of setting some new standards, slowly and carefully.

Amberjee · 16/11/2007 11:38

tibs, i think it's wonderful that we have these LOs to cuddle. i know on nights that dh has been out or away, i really like the company of ds and sometimes sleep with him in bed more readily than i otherwise would if dh was around.

tibsy · 16/11/2007 12:26

hi everyone

EP - thats great progress yay!!! fingers X'd for continued success

charlie glad youre feeling better my darling and hope youre having a good day x

hey amber - i love days like that

i popped in to work today to catch up with everyone. was really lovely to see everyone, dd fell asleep in the pushchair on the way back (a very rare occurence) and now i'm going to indulge in a praline flake

hope everyone else having good days x

tibsy · 16/11/2007 12:28

ooohhh, meggy, just reread your post 'lots of mucus involved' and poor lo. hope it shifts soon. cant remember if you've got a vapouriser or not?

gingerninja · 16/11/2007 12:40

Oh I get it now. Wondered why there were no new posts today. Ha, i'll be back in a while when I've read them all

gingerninja · 16/11/2007 12:56

Meg, I agree about the advertorial thing, it's not really in the spirit of mumsnet.

CM and RRM for your nights.

for you others with good ones or those making progress.

I slept on my own and DH looked after DD. I slept badly as still very coldy and coughy. DD apparently slept well until 4.30 then was awake for ages. I went and woke them both up at 7 and I said to DH, 'it stinks in here' and when I went to DD she'd done a pooh and it had leaked all out of her nappy over her Pj's so I was a bit with DH as it was no suprise she wouldn't settle very well after 4.30.

Amberjee · 16/11/2007 13:37

poor ginger, hope you're feeling better soon. i swear mum's have a super-poo-nappy sense of smell and dad's have a super-ignore-poo-nappy sense.

tibsy · 16/11/2007 15:07

ginger youre still feeling crappy. for dd til 4.30am, but at dh missing the pooey nappy. poor dd.

right, am logging off now, ds will be home in a bit and dp finishing early, so catch you all tomorrow.
wishing you all good nights. big (((hugs))) x

tibsy · 16/11/2007 15:08

amber - i totally agree. dp the same, grrrr

chibi · 16/11/2007 15:18

hi ladies,

I just wanted to extend my heartfelt thanks to all of you who gave me so much support when I was really struggling to cope. Your words were invaluble to me as a lonely 1st time mum who was sure that she was screwing it up. Things have been better for the last 2 weeks, we are down to 1 or 2 wakeups between 7 and 6:30. I am hoping it will continue, but who knows. (((hugs))) to all + good sleep vibes.
