  • I wish.

Morning all,

Hope you find this!

for your rough night Amber.

After a few good ones, we had a crap one too. Up at 1.30, 3, 4.30, 5.30, 6.15........
I think she was a bit overtired last night. Hope we can get her napping better today .

So how were all your nights?

OP posts:
Tamdin · 12/10/2007 14:21

ginger for dd being unsettled but that you slept through it!

gingerninja · 12/10/2007 14:56

how was the party Tam?

Amberjee · 12/10/2007 15:36

wow ginger, at least you got some good sleep.
ds super whingey. guess he's still ill. or teething. or just turning into a super whingey kid

MegBusset · 12/10/2007 16:25

Anyone else being plagued by ladybirds at the moment? We have had literaly dozens of them in and around the house in the last few days. Better than a plague of spiders, I suppose...

EffiePerine · 12/10/2007 17:18

Amber and Tam: hope you're feeling better soon.

Amber: the cafe was great. DS thoroughly enjoyed himself crawling (and toddling) about, gurning out of the window and being bossed about by a stream of 3 year old girls. The food was good too . Jus back from a potter round the shops, having bought:

  • a winter squash
  • some falafel (DS has eaten 2 and spread the crumbs around the buggy and down his vest)
  • some chelsea buns
  • fresh broad beans
  • yarn for winter hats and mittens (brown for DS, red for me and no I'm not knitting myself any mittens)
  • a haggis

Somewhere in there is food for supper, but not sure what!

Amberjee · 12/10/2007 17:23

thanks for the kleenex megs, sure do need it at the moment.
ep, glad ds had fun at the cafe. i think it's great as you can let them crawl about without worrying what the staff/other customers think. and actually i was pleasantly suprised by the food (but not by the coffee ...)
i don't know how many more nights like the last 3 i can handle. nights seem to be a endless combo of crying and vomiting, crying and vomiting. am so reluctant to give calpol or nurofen as there is generally a 50-50 chance of it inducing some vomiting (seriously). though last night i gave nurofen after 2 hours of crying and he fell asleep next to me straight away.
dh stayed home and worked from home today which has been very helpful, if only to stop me from gettin frustrated and yelling at ds to stop crying so much
hi-ho, will hang on till the better times.

EffiePerine · 12/10/2007 17:54

fr your ill DS Amber. Sounds like the Nurofen might work - I assume it's the same as with adult ibuprofen and shouldn't be given on an empty stomach. It can send DS a bit wappy, but does work if he's in serious pain. Also (and you may be doing thids already_ what about sticking DS in the sling while you're pottering around the house? If you back can stand it od course (or if you can master the back carry).

Amberjee · 12/10/2007 18:01

yeah, i'm too sick to sling ds at the moment, did on wednesday all day and he was so sick, he slept in my arms on the couch while i watched greys anatomy reruns. but right now i don't have the physical strength for carrying, hardley have the strenght for getting out of bed. at the moment it's the nights which are most challenging. 2-3 hour long wakings in the middle are not fun.
he vomited the ibuprofen today too. i gave it to him half hour after milk. what do you think? too soon?

EffiePerine · 12/10/2007 18:05

not sure - what about giving him a rice cake or something with it? Could DH sling him (esp if he's sleeping a lot)? Then you could go back to bed...

EffiePerine · 12/10/2007 18:06

in fact I would be tempted to put the rail up, cover your bed in books and toys and retire there for the weekend (get DH to do the nappy changes, feeds etc.)

MegBusset · 12/10/2007 18:08

Amber, whenever I've given LO Calpol or Medised I give it to him right before a milk feed -- might be worth a try so it gets mixed with the milk in his tummy straight away so is easier to digest?

Amberjee · 12/10/2007 20:08

Meg, yeah i might try that, though last night I gave it to him after dinner, but before milk, and he still vomited after milk feed. don't know if it's related or not. he's a bit off his foodthough too, although he did eat some spaghetti tonight.
just hope he sleeps tonight, i think if i got some sleep tonight, i would feel a lot better. otherwise yeah, i'm not getting out of bed tomorrow.
ds pretty unhappy about just staying home though, he cried and cried today until dh took him out, then he was completely content.

MegBusset · 13/10/2007 09:09

Morning all...

Amber hope you're feeling better this morning, or tucked up in bed if not.

We had a good night - he slept til 1am without a peep! I fed him, then he woke at 4 so fed again as I thought he might go through til 7 after that... actually he woke at 6 but then came in bed with us and went back to sleep til 7.30.

This is the best night that we have had in many, many weeks so I am very

tibsy · 13/10/2007 09:40

morning all and meggy love, so so pleased for you. you deserve it sweetcheeks

amber and tam - hope you are both feeling better and hope lo enjoyed the party tam

EP- youre day sounded lovely, falafels, yum! hope you had a better night for it

Our night was rather good,
bed at 7.30pm
woke briefly at 9pm, but a little shh/pat stopped that!
woke at 2.30am for milk
woke at 5.45am for water
up at 7.15am

the boys are off paintballing today, so dd and i are having a bit of girl time!!! was going to take her swimming, but her nappies have been dreadful and she's got a sore bum again teeth?...who knows?

ginger, skirmish, Fkafs, Chibi, wolfmama, fizz, shoobie et al, hope you all had good nights

tibsy · 13/10/2007 09:41

amber, hope lo better today x

EffiePerine · 13/10/2007 09:45

for good nights, Meg and Tibs. Well, we had a lie-in, but that was prob because DS didn't get to sleep until 9:30 . He had a late nap which messed things up rather. Still unsettled last night, but there were some 2 hr stretches in there which is a slight improvement.

Amber: hope you're feeling better or are tucked up in bed .

Amberjee · 13/10/2007 10:16

ep, i was also thinking this morning that we had a couple of 2 hour stretches and they were the good bits. sad isn't it!

gingerninja · 13/10/2007 10:31

Meg, so pleased for your good night. What a good little fella.

Amber, hope you're feeling better lovely.

We had a so so night. DH again got up to her at 1 ish and she was restless but woke at 4 for the day after an hour of trying to coax her back to sleep she slept until 7 so don't feel too bad. I really think we've got more teeth on the go. When do molars come through?

Have great weekends everyone

tibsy · 13/10/2007 12:15

EP and amber for your nights and those 2 hour stretches. yep, we've just come out of those nights and will keep on execting them til teething is over. hope you both have some help and rest today.

Hi ginger! and for that 4am start to the day.

hope you all have a good day. dd just gone for her nap and as i'm expecting another 30 minute er...best go and grab some time to myself

Amberjee · 13/10/2007 13:06

thanks tibs and ginger. what the hell is with 4am rise ginger, yikes, sounds hellish.
i'm feeling a little bit more energetic today, but head still pounding a lot. dh had a lunch arrangement today and i kept hinting that he might like to take ds with him and have him back by 3 for feed/nap. i wasn't expecting him to do it as he was saying he was going to postpone lunch to another day as i wasn't well. i think he's scared to take ds to lunch on his own. but he has gone to lunch and so has ds!
i can't bear the thought of more teeth. ds still has only one. i keep feeling his gums in the morning, but nothing. he better improve this sleeping regime, i'm not choicing on 6 wakings a night.

Tamdin · 13/10/2007 13:07

morning all

meg for your night you deserve it!

amber and EP for your 2 hour stretches. hope your ds's nap today and give you a break

Tibs enjoy your time alone with dd today.

Ginger for your 4am potential start. glad you got her back over until 7.

our nightwas good
dh got ds to sleep in cot in 15mins
he woke at 11 to come in with us
woke at 8.15! for the day

(there was a drink of water in there somewhere too but have no idea what time and ds reaches for it himself so it's no major disruption)

at a black tie 'do' tonight so ds going to my mum and dad's again for the night. won't take him there until 5ish though so they only have to do dinner and bed.

Tamdin · 13/10/2007 13:09

x post amber. yay for dh taking ds my dh has had ds all morning (went shoppping for dress) and he'll have him again all afternoon as i'm going to hairdressers! >

enjoy being in the house totally alone!!!!

Tamdin · 13/10/2007 13:15

bought this dress

it doesn't look like much on the hanger or in this pic! but i tried it on anyway and it's so lovely on. It's skin tight but holds everything in and pushes boobs up! very like the rouland mouret dress did. (gives you jessica rabbit figure)and the sleeves are more tulip shape than fru fru iykwim

Amberjee · 13/10/2007 13:45

oooh, i lurrrve karen millen. i always look in there but figure most of it is not practical day mummy wear. one day when i get to go out, i might indulge. hope you have fun tam and look fab

Tamdin · 13/10/2007 13:48

amber there isn't anything practical in there! I live in jeans and nice tops so hardly ever go in to KM as it's mostly dresses and very nice work wear but am glad i did. am looking forward to going out now.
