Yes ladies we've got a shiny new thread to share our woes of chronic sleep deprivation, to hail all that is gloreous when something works and throw our arms in the air when it all goes wrong again.

One bad night doesn't impress us, we're awake more than we sleep cos we is 'ard I tell ya.

Hi to everyone else. unfortunately dinner won't cook itself so can't comment on individual posts but I love ya all X

Amberjee · 09/07/2007 18:13

sigh i wish dinner would cook itself. well maybe dh will cook it. unfortunately that nappy will not change itself either and that baby will not bath itself and put itself to bed. sigh. hope everyone has good nights

MegBusset · 09/07/2007 19:39

Ginger, there was a time when LO would happily take 2hr naps on me, but he's too big now and I don't think it'd be comfortable for either of us!

Also wanted to say I love your post on SIFTW, it's just how I feel when people tell me I shouldn't bring DS into bed with me, or should just put him in his cot, leave the room and shut the door. Last night when he woke at 11ish he was screaming with such intensity, I just had to pick him up and cuddle him and let him suckle til he was asleep again.

Still, today I have ordered a bed rail so hopefully will be easier to be a big old softie...

XcupcakemummyX · 09/07/2007 20:30

wish i had a cook
wish i had a cleaner

Tamdin · 09/07/2007 20:50

XcupcakemummyX · 09/07/2007 20:55

XcupcakemummyX · 09/07/2007 20:57

Tamdin · 09/07/2007 21:01

peaceful here too. ds in bed asleep (for now!) and dh gone into bed to stretch out and watch tv. Think i might join him as there is a large strawberry cake in the fridge that is calling to me!

XcupcakemummyX · 09/07/2007 21:04

enjoy the peace

Amberjee · 09/07/2007 21:18

hope everyone has good nights.

bagsundereyes · 10/07/2007 08:15

Morning all,

How are we today?
EP for your DS self-settling. How did the night go?

Meg for your DS's long nap. Hope you get another today - not only is it "progress" generally but it's soooo nice to have a whole 1.5 hours to yourself.

Great night here. LO settled at 6.45 for the first time of asking (has happened about 6 times in her life). Slept 'til midnight. Up for an hour for feed at 12. Up at 4.30, settled back til 6.20. I suppose according to the books she slept through the night - just the wrong side of midnight .

I hope there were some more good nights out there.

Amberjee · 10/07/2007 08:58

my night was similar to yours bags. wakings at 1am, 4.30, up at 6.20. not too shabby, but was hoping for better ...

EffiePerine · 10/07/2007 09:10

Night not too bad - asleep at 8, woke at 10, 1, 3:30 and 5:30. Sounds quite bad but DS has a bad cold at the moment and kept waking himself up by coughing . He also stayed in his cot till 5:30.

Now DH and I both have a sore throat and sniffles, so we could all be coming down with the bug. Hopefully it will clear up soon.

Hope everyone else had good nights

Amberjee · 10/07/2007 09:12

poor you EP, having a cold is the worst when full time parenting.

Tamdin · 10/07/2007 09:13

ditto her. bed at 7. up at 12, 4 and 7.30.
Not brilliant but not awful either

Amberjee · 10/07/2007 09:15

i just can't wait for the rolling to calm down. there is too much moving around the cot and not enough sleeping in my opinion!

Tamdin · 10/07/2007 09:17

x posted EP. 10-1 was a good stretch and in cot until 5.30 is very good. ds only managed until 12 in cot then in with us. once again didn't have the energy to resist but he slept quite peacefully so not too bad.

for cold. hope it doesn't mainfest itself fully X

EffiePerine · 10/07/2007 09:19

I'm at work, so I can sniffle in peace . Off tomorrow so I think there'll be a lot of slumping on the sofa...

gingerninja · 10/07/2007 09:21

Hey all, DD was very unhappy last night but I'd just been watching fight for life or whatever it was so I was feeling all earth motherly and grateful for having a healthy baby so I just went to bed with her at 10ish and we slept with a couple of wakings and getting up at 5.30 . Don't feel too shabby tho so I was wondering if all my fretting about her sleep is making me feel worse than the actual wakings. I don't think she's feeling 100 percent so her wakings seemed acceptable and I just went with it rather than fighting it.

It helped that yesterday I was chatting to a neighbour who has three young children and she's very together and works. She said, don't worry about it, don't worry that she's in your bed, it won't be forever, just enjoy her. so i'm spreading that thought for today.

Morning. Bags for your night! Now if only you'd gone to bed at 7...

And glad there were some other OK nights. Ours was mixed, the evening was OK then woke & fed at 10.30, then 1ish, but didn't settle so came in with us, but I was really uncomfortable squashed onto a sliver of bed so we put him back in the cot at 1.30. Then he woke again at 2.30 (after being very kicky and noisy) so back in with us. After that it was not too bad but he was awake at 6.20 so I didn't really get much sleep after that.

I feel like crap this morning though, maybe I'm coming down with something too

He is back asleep now so we will see how today's naps go. I had to literally pin him to the bed to make him sleep, though, otherwise he would just keep rolling around and waking himself up just as he was about to drop off

tibsy · 10/07/2007 09:40

Bags for your night. about time too!!!! shame lo's 'full nights sleep' doesnt correspond with ours eh?

amber for yours too

EP hope lo feels better soon and you and dh dont feel too crappy

ginger your night sounds fab. and yes, it does help to have empathic people giving you the thumbs up for what you're doing. i still love co sleeping. sometimes i get fed up and kick her out for a bit but inevitably she comes back in it doesnt last forever, ds used to come in with us too, hes in his own bed now

meg you're not feeling too great. hope you feel better soon..... baby straight jacket, thats what you need for lo!!

tam - hope you're feeling brighter this a.m my lovely xx

our night was another boobfest she woke as i was going to bed at 9.15pm so i fed her and put her back in her cot. woke at 3.15am for another feed. then again at 5.15am ditto. up for day at 6.30am......guess i did have a long stretch in there.......

does anyone else find it quite draining when theyre feeding like that? or is it just me? she was permanently attached most of yesterday day too

Amberjee · 10/07/2007 10:31

we are such a talented bunch with our blog. I love reading everyone's posts. keep up the great posts. am sure it will be very reassuring for lots of mums out there.

Amberjee · 10/07/2007 10:33

arrrgh, LO has been asleep for 1 hour 45 mins, and I know he's on his tummy. he never goes more than 1.5 hours, so now i'm getting a bit edgy. better go up and listen to him breathing
