Yes ladies we've got a shiny new thread to share our woes of chronic sleep deprivation, to hail all that is gloreous when something works and throw our arms in the air when it all goes wrong again.

One bad night doesn't impress us, we're awake more than we sleep cos we is 'ard I tell ya.

Amberjee · 09/07/2007 12:32

Meg, wondering how the nap is going (hopefully still going)

One thing I find really hard about this timed naps thing is when we're out and heading back home before the start of nap time, I try to keep him awake, but sometimes he can't help himself especially if he's in the sling, he falls asleep early. I try and transfer him to the cot and invariably he wakes up. Cue crying because he's tired and not asleep. I haven't worked that one out yet. STill a source of frustration.

EffiePerine · 09/07/2007 12:38

Amber: Ds does exactly the same, faling asleep in pram and then not in cot.

Re the Carrying Kind link: have you used them? I know one of the women who runs the shop

Have looked at the blog: you all rock! Love the bag of excuses post Amber - was thinking of doing this as a page at some point - what do you think?

Ginger: love the SIFTW history

Tam: lol at your baby signing (and also lol in an I've-been-there way at Amber's midnight poo explosion).

and thanks to all other posters. Think everyone's managed at least one post so far, so keep going!

Will put out a call for graduates to start with. Once we have a decent amount up (and all your histories in the About section, am still waiting for most of them...) we can discreetly point other posters to it

Amberjee · 09/07/2007 12:41

yeah, i love the carrying kind. got my ergo sling from them recently. and i recommend them to everyone in the market for a sling. will update with more sling links soon, just haven't got my act together.

Yes, let's make an excuse page, that would be grand.

will do my history soon.

MegBusset · 09/07/2007 12:44

Amber, LO woke after 30 mins but still looked really tired, so I put the dummy back in, and he went back to sleep!

I would have taken the dummy out again but he was laying with his arms over his face and I wasn't about to risk waking him. (He tends to wake when the dummy falls out so I prefer him not to sleep with it in.)

Anyway he is still asleep now! so I even had time to write a blog post

tibsy · 09/07/2007 12:49

meg yey for the nap and fab first post no longer a blog virgin

Tamdin · 09/07/2007 12:57

EP rushing out the door but wil have my history piece to you this week i promise. sorry for delay
ps. thnaks for all kind words just feeling bit teary today for some reason

bagsundereyes · 09/07/2007 13:56

gosh, there's been loads on here while i've been out!

Tam - you are a great mummy, and clearly a great wife too, with your home baking! Where you and Amber find the time and energy I'll never know.

Hurrah for you LO Meg! Here, DD usually manages longer than 30mins nap at lunch, although she always needs resettling, so we can just scrape by on 3 naps!

Tibs for your feeding marathon. They do like to keep us on our toes!

ginger - hope you get a break today. 5.30 start is .

Cupcake - at you two being cuddled up last night. Very sweet.

Mrs. TH - my LO is still addicted to the swaddle for sleep, unless she's in a moving buggy, and I can't see us losing the swaddle anytime soon. Figure if she's not bothered, I shouldn't be.

I wonder if they make swaddle blankets for 7 year olds?

LO is sleeping off her jabs!

gingerninja · 09/07/2007 14:20

Tam you are very definately not a crappy mummy. You sound like such a lovely person and a great mummy to that little man. You are an inspiration to us all because even after all this time you are positive, calm and full of thoughts for others. We love you. Big hugs to you today

Amber, we have toys in the cot but she rarely takes an interest in them.

Meg I had exactly the same thing with mine and the only way I could get her to take longer was have her laying on me while I watched the telly. Get yourself some snacks, cuppa tea and the remote and put your feet up. He might suprise you. I did this for months and when I felt she was ready to sleep on her own I laid a matress on the floor and the transition was painless.

I used to get so flippin angry at any tiny noise waking LO from her naps because it was such an effort to get her to take one so I totally sympathise meg.

MrsTH what about a grow bag with the arms tucked in as a transitional phase? I never swaddled. Wish I had but could never get the technique right. I've read posts before of other people trying to break the swaddling addiction so maybe start a thread on it, you might get some useful tips.

MrsThierryHenry · 09/07/2007 14:33

Thanks for the suggestion, Ginger. Sadly I think the grobag idea will be even more constricting as at least he can wriggle his arms out of the swaddling blanket while asleep, but I imagine a Grobag won't offer that possibility.

Will def post a new thread on the topic, though. Smart thinking.

It's 2.30pm and I still haven't brushed my teeth . Shocking. Done my hair, though, so that's something.

MrsThierryHenry · 09/07/2007 14:34

Bags - my DH has sleeping probs; d'you reckon I could try swaddling him too? Might seem a bit kinky but it's worth a try!!! Poor, chap, if only he knew what I'm saying about him behind his back!

EffiePerine · 09/07/2007 14:57

MrsTH: try swaddling with one arm out and see how you get on - move on to both if it doesn't siturb him. I stoipped swaddling when DS got really angry with being wrapped up and kicked out on his own.

Just had message from DH (am at work) to say that he put DS in the cot, he played about for 20 mons and then put himslef to sleep

UNless he's making this stuff up to bug me...

MegBusset · 09/07/2007 15:02

Quick update: lunchtime nap was 1.5hrs in the end!

EffiePerine · 09/07/2007 15:05
