wishing everyone a good night (including myself )
hope we have some sleepy settled babies. ours had a major teething freakout today, but then was really good for the afternoon, so hopefully the pain has settled down.

Tapster · 24/06/2007 22:07

DD has a cold so a couple of bad nights for us up every couple of hours. We've also had a terrible time with leaking nappies - using Huggies stay dry, last night she leaked twice as I changed her nappy (never normally by trying to avoid the wetness waking her up early). Any ideas?

Some of the LOs doing better it seems, hope everybody has a good night.

MegBusset · 24/06/2007 22:13

Hmm, well not sure how settled our night is going to be, LO has woken every 30 mins since going to sleep

Have just fed him, so we'll see if that helps at all (previously was settling with shushing and/or dummy but it doesn't last).

Also he seems to be most comfortable sleeping on his side, which is fine, but then when he stirs he ends up on his back, doesn't like it and starts crying.

I am SO exhausted, would give anything for a night with only 2/3 wakings!

Amberjee · 25/06/2007 07:40

poor meg and tapster

tapster, we use the huggies at night too after having a lot of leakage issues with real nappies and moltex. they seem to do the trick. i don't know what to suggest if they are leaking ...

i don't want to jinx it at all, but i think sleep is starting to descend on our household. 1 waking. again. at 1.30am, up at 6.45!

bagsundereyes · 25/06/2007 07:52

morning ladies.

meg and tapster for your unsettled days. i do hope the nights were better.

Yay Amber for your good one. mixed bag here - LO slep 8-1, then 2-4.30, 5-6. Screaming 6-7 thou, but has just had a little nap in my arms and is all the better for it .

hope there were some good nights out there!

Tamdin · 25/06/2007 08:20

morning all. amber for your good night. ours was good because ds slept in bed with us all night. woke once at 11.30 for milk (wouldn't eat his dinner last night) then that was it until 7am!!

amber have you ever been into 'handmade and found' boutique in islington. It featured in this week's mary queen of shops on bbc. the clothes looked really nice?

morning bags. not too bad a night. just a shame the biggest stretch was at the start. you should have gone to bed at 8!

gingerninja · 25/06/2007 09:14

morning all, sorry haven't got time to catch up with everyone. We were away for the weekend at friends and DD was a nightmare to put to bed, DH had a migraine, I ended up getting upset because for once it would have been nice to relax so it was a bit of a disaster. Having said all that she was good last night and came into my bed at 10 and slept until 5. She had thrown her dummy into the air and me and DH were scrambling around a dark room and under the bed trying to find it. Anyway, aftr a bit of patting and shuffling she went back until 7. Great although I hardly slept after 5 my body obviously has got used to less sleep.

Tam glad Friday was such a success.

tibsy · 25/06/2007 09:16

aloha ladies

Amberjee · 25/06/2007 09:18

tamdin, i haven't heard of that shop. do you know what street it is on? i tried to google it,. but couldn't find it.

MegBusset · 25/06/2007 09:21

aaaaaaargh.

Didn't settle for more than 30 mins til about 2am

Then slept til 4ish, fed then wouldn't resettle so in bed with us... at least then he slept til 8

We tried...
Shushing
Feeding
Dummy (works til it falls out then he wakes again)
Putting down on back
Putting down on side
Putting down awake
Putting down asleep
Calpol in case teething
Olbas Jr in case congested
Cooler grobag
Warmer grobag

Have run out of ideas!

Tapster · 25/06/2007 09:21

No leaks last night. Waking at 12am for 15min feed. Then unfortunately 4.45am didn't go back to sleep until 5.45am but did them sleep until 8am - but now schedule out of the window. She is very snuffly and its like hearing a train when she is BF. Have to stay in again today as she is still unwell - 3rd day in a trot its very dull. Sounds like quite a few of you had really good nights. At least its not just my DD that doesn't eat breakfast most days.

Amberjee · 25/06/2007 09:29

for your night meg. sigh. and for your sick LO tapster.

i'm cooking a zucchini frittata for a friend with a 5 week old whose mum is leaving today, so her and DH are on their own after that. i remember that horrible time. i think i sent out an SOS email to all my friends saying please please take pity and bring home cooked food!

Amberjee · 25/06/2007 09:29

for no leaks tapster, can you tell i'm procrastinating? get in the shower you lazy so and so .... he he, maybe i'll have another cup of tea.

tibsy · 25/06/2007 09:57

ginger you had a washout of a visit.
we've got a wedding reception to go to soon. a friend of dps and this will sound terrible, but we're contemplating whether to leave the dcs with grandparents on one hand, it would be lovely to go as a family, but on the other, it would be nice for dp and i to have some time alone as a couple and not have to worry if dds having a bad day. does that make us dreadful parents? it would be different if it were family.......feeling a bit guilty for even thinking it

meg am so sorry you had such a crap night. hope you have a better day.

tapster for your leak free night sorry you're grounded tho. i was in all day yesterday and doesnt look like we'll be escaping today either what with dd being grumpy and the bloody awful weather

aah well, must crack on, polishing to do and breakfast for me. dd asleep so cant put the vacuum over just yet, procrastinating? .... me too amber

tibsy · 25/06/2007 09:59

oh and amber, what a lovely thing to do, thats the one thing that i would have really appreciated, more than the cards, flowers, champagne and everything else. a bloody good home cooked meal
next time, i'll let everyome know............what am i saying next time??????..........never again

Amberjee · 25/06/2007 09:59

tibs, leave the dc's with the grandparents and go - you deserve it! no need to feel guilty at all, they'll probably all have a great time, as will you

MegBusset · 25/06/2007 10:55

Tapster we have found that Tesco nappies are the best at preventing leakage, dunno if you've tried them?

Tamdin · 25/06/2007 11:02

amber i think it jsut said it was on islington high street (?) would that make any sense? i'll try googling it too and seeif i have any luck.
morning tibs, ginger, meg, bags and tap

Amberjee · 25/06/2007 11:02

could be on islington high street, i'll have a look next time i'm down there. there's a really cute baby clothes shop there too, so i'll be in trouble!

Amberjee · 25/06/2007 11:03

oh god, our LO is a ROLLING monster! can't keep him still. going for a walk for a mum-coffee. i still feel tired, even when i only get up once a night!

bagsundereyes · 25/06/2007 12:05

for those rough nights meg, tapster, and ginger.

for Tam and Tibsy's better ones.

Meg, it's so frustrating when you've tried everything, and you're out of ideas, and it's 3am....here's to a better one tonight.

LO is off to the osteopath again this afternoon. part of me thinks it's a load of rubbish, but i'm going to keep it up for 4 sessions on the off-chance!

here's to nap-filled days for everyone .

EffiePerine · 25/06/2007 12:17

Lots to catch up on here. Not much news fromus, nights still v unsettled and naps still OK. I just wish it were the other way around!

Amber: it's a bit of a shock when they start moving, isn't it? When is the farmer's market in Islington? I keep missing it - is it every fortnight? There's one in Stoke Newington (close to me) but it's very small and gets rather crowded.

Tibs: LEAVE THE KIDS!

Tapster: hope your LO is feeling better.

Meg: for your bad nights, I'm there as well at the moment. It is dispiriting when there seems to be no progress. I'm going to give up looking at the clock all the time as it just depresses me.

Ginger: you mentioned ages ago putting together some of our experiences in a book or similar. I think it's a great idea, but how about starting with a blog? MN is great for chatting but I think all posts are copyright MN (fair enough). Would a blog work do you think? Was thinking of something along the lines of Aitch's blw site - DH is techy to would be able to help set it up...

I think it would be helpful for other mums to know that non-sleeping babies are normal and that some ways of improving things do work. What does everyone else think?

EffiePerine · 25/06/2007 12:19

Bags: did you find the osteo helped? DS certianly seemed more settled after his sessions, though that did coincide with the new nap routine so hard to tell. I'm having one more session (making 3 in total) then going back as and when.

Amberjee · 25/06/2007 12:24

EP nice idea, i've used blogger.com before, but not sure how to do it for multiple bloggers - maybe your dh knows the way.

i've got to get my head around baby proofing everything soon-ish, before the crawling starts, oh no!

islington farmers markets is every sunday 10 -2. you need to get there early as things do sell out. i've gone at 1.30 before and been quite disappointed because growers had sold all their stuff and were packing up. its behind the town hall, there's a sign from upper street pointng the way.

am taking LO swimming in stoke newington as of july. keen to try some cafes up there for lunch as a treat. any recommendations?

Tamdin · 25/06/2007 12:42

EP great idea.
