New thread for night (and daytime!) chatter for those awake more than they'd like with a non sleeping baby/child 😊

My DS is six months. First baby likely to be only baby if I don't start getting more sleep! He is a nap and sleep fighter but incredibly cute so I choose to forgive him 😂

Been recovering from yet another bout of mastitis here. Luckily not as bad as last time, only one day in bed with fever and aches. Been encouraging LO to feed a lot - best thing for it cheshiremum! It does usually take a week or so for the lumps to go.

LOs sleep continues to be hot and miss though he is still self settling at bedtime and at night feeds touching wood as saythat He's been pretty grumbly the last few days, I'm guessing due to teething by his bright red cheeks! Just read on here that there's another regression soon... :(

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

lizzlebizzle33 · 20/03/2018 20:48

I'm so annoyed with myself. Ds2 just won't stay asleep in his cot anymore at all, he used to do a couple of hours then u would bring him in with me if he didn't settle back down but now he will only stay in there 5 minutes or less before he wakes up.
He keeps fling his dummy out of his mouth too which isn't helping.

I just feel it's all my fault for wanting to get a bit of s better sleep and now we're stuck!

Should have bought myself a new bed instead of his Moses and cot bed! Seriously don't know how much more co sleeping I can stand.
Do you think if I sacrifice sleep tonight and just keep putting him in his bed even if it's a hundred times he might get it?

FrozenMargarita17 · 20/03/2018 21:35

@lizzlebizzle33 same situation here. She does stay in bed for a little bit longer but I usually crack at 2-3-4 and bring her in the spare room. I really do need to stop though. It's so hard when I'm so exhausted though!!

lizzlebizzle33 · 20/03/2018 21:53

@FrozenMargarita17 it's horrible, I so end ten minutes getting him back to sleep only for him to wake up as soon as I put him down, when i know if I put him down with me he would sleep.

AMagdalena · 20/03/2018 22:10

@lizzlebizzle My DD was like that. She wouldn't sleep in the cot at all, but since she turned 6.5 months, she suddenly started letting me put her down in the cot and sleeping longer stretches. There is hope!

FrozenMargarita17 · 20/03/2018 22:21

I've started to not pick dd up. She stays in the cot and I either put my hand on her chest/belly or face and I don't look at her. It takes a while and she cuddles my hand which is lovely. Then she either turns herself over and goes off, or I swap my hand for a comforter! It doesn't always work but I'm desperately going to try and not break tonight and bring her in with me.

onone85 · 20/03/2018 22:32

Hi

I'm so glad I've found this thread and I'm not alone...im at my wits end. I have an 11 month old DS that, since 8/9 months just will not stay asleep. He will happily just go down for a nap in the day and fall asleep on his own (not in his cot, mind. Usually the sofa or his buggy). But nighttime is just fucking horrendous. I've tried everything. Sleep aids. Sleepy cream. CIO. Less naps in the day/shorter naps, longer/more naps. More food/less food.
Argh!!!!! I'm back to work this month and not sure how I'm going to cope 😩

Jellybean2017 · 21/03/2018 00:58

Is everyone asleep... I'm not :(

Awake here, Ds 2 broke me after 2 hours and about 15 wake ups he came in bed with me, on feed number. 7,000 since 8pm.

Stingy eyes, need a www, why don't we have any biscuits in the house?

lizzlebizzle33 · 21/03/2018 01:42

Just had to put him in his cot so I could go to the loo, he woke up obviously, left him there to moan and coo for all of two minutes and he's woken ds1 up!!
Couldn't even sleep train if I wanted to as I'm not dealing with putting ds1 back to bed too! 😩😩😩

cheshiremama89 · 21/03/2018 02:07

First wake up of the night...

DS wakes up at 2am like close clockwork if put down when we go to bed at 11pm

Rya2710 · 21/03/2018 02:38

Awake over here! Finally caved after an hour and a half of trying to get dd back to sleep in her cot and let her in with me, now she’s layed playing with my hair and giggling...I love ya but will you sleep child!!Grin

Sakura03 · 21/03/2018 03:03

On second wake up here, ds slept 1 hr 50 min and now just 55 minutes... He was wide awake babbling and kicking his little legs... how long does this sleep regression last for??? I’m soooo tired....

Worlds0kayestmum · 21/03/2018 04:04

Oh don't you just love it when they soak through their nappy, clothes and bedding?? Just did a full change and now trying to settle the world's most joyful, overexcited little boy... Desperate for a wee and my bed. Third wake up of the night Confused

4mogirl · 21/03/2018 04:44

So usually my 4mo DD has been waking several times in a night, usually just to feed, but the last 3 nights she has been waking up wanting to play. So I bring her downstairs for a while and then it’s a real struggle to get her back to sleep even when she is showing signs of being tired. What is this all about?!

Meepmoop · 21/03/2018 06:39

I've been up since 5.30 after DS needed an emergency nappy change. He went back to sleep but only on me so I couldn't sneak in the extra hour. We're now up for the day.

Haypanky · 21/03/2018 06:52

@onone85 you're in the same boat as me, nearly 11 month old, I go back to work on Monday! I think essentially he's more stubborn than me, which is a serious life skill! We have better spells then something always happens like a cold or something and it slips again. Desperately trying to be more firm and consistent this week!

FrozenMargarita17 · 21/03/2018 07:33

Well my resolution to make sure she stayed in bed was a dud. I cracked at 4am :(

Jellybean2017 · 21/03/2018 07:43

Another night of Co sleeping from 130 and up for the day at 5 again. Need coffee 🍵

lizzlebizzle33 · 21/03/2018 08:57

@Jellybean2017 @FrozenMargarita17 you are both stronger than me, I cracked at 10pm. I had been up and down so many times, it felt like it was about 2 or 3am but was only 10 😩😩

justanotheruser18 · 21/03/2018 08:57

:gives coffee: ☕️☕️☕️ @Jellybean2017

justanotheruser18 · 21/03/2018 08:58

Y'all, I sleep with my babe in my bed errrnight. You're stronger than me.i can't even get him in his cot.

justanotheruser18 · 21/03/2018 09:01

Also I've been reading around the topic of early wakings, frequent night wakings and nap times. Idk if anyone else's baby is 6 months+ here, but my son has shown signs of being ready to drop his late afternoon nap. So he goes from 2.30 to bed without a nap now. That helped him sleep slightly better last night. Often I try and squeeze in an extra sleep late afternoon and lately my son was bouncing off the walls.

Emberblu · 21/03/2018 10:18

No the worst night here but ergh gonna have to move ds into his own room as soon as he's 6months cos that boy is noisy!! Luckily his room is the 'office/dressing room' that's attached to ours so not far.

Ds is 5 months but keeps refusing his 4pm nap. He gets very upset and worked up if I try and get him to nap (does this for most naps but will eventually sleep after 10mins usually)! He's often happy enough to stay up as long as he's on my hip watching what I'm doing (always been a Velcro baby) but I'd quite like to sit down please! By 5.30 I can tell he's tired but it's too late to nap then! I'm not going to force it but he's a 30 minute napper so with only 3 naps a day he's barely getting any rest!
