New thread for night (and daytime!) chatter for those awake more than they'd like with a non sleeping baby/child 😊

My DS is five months. First baby likely to be only baby if I don't start getting more sleep He is a nap and sleep fighter but incredibly cute so I choose to forgive him 😂

MrsGB2225 · 07/02/2018 23:10

DS was asleep at 8.30. I'm going to cuddle to sleep rather than feed to sleep. First attempt was 11 wake up. He was asleep when I cuddled him but then woke when I put him down. So we are in pick up/put down limbo.

MrsGB2225 · 07/02/2018 23:32

He still seemed hungry so I'm feeding him now.

WhoAteAllthePercyPigs · 08/02/2018 01:12

First wake at 1230, but not sure I got any sleep beforehand, as DD woke up and needed comforting. DS now snoring on me so will attempt cot transfer. Hoping he stays put! Got a fairly good run of sleep last night so really hopeful he does the same tonight but not looking hopeful...

HashtagTired · 08/02/2018 01:14

The loft hatch just flew open. Dd woke up (unsurprisingly). Ds slept through (thank goodness). Dh sorted it (phew).

Why do things like that have to happen?? As if we don't get enough sleep as it is 🙄

HashtagTired · 08/02/2018 01:16

@Meepmoop that is impressive. But your dh needs to perfect his reactions and be ready with the new nappy! 😂

MrsGB2225 · 08/02/2018 01:42

So we are still awake. The last few nights, DS2 will wake up 30 mins after a feed and want to feed again. Has anyone had this?
I'm starting to feel like I'm loosing my way with sleeping! Not many posts tonight, hope that's because everyone has sleeping babies.

Jellybean2017 · 08/02/2018 01:54

@MrsGB2225 we have nights like that too, but I'm not sure if it's down to a growth spurt or comfort feeding... Tiring whichever the case may be.

I'm finding that DS seems to want to go to bed earlier and earlier. He's six months now. We are moving house later in the month so will attempt putting him in his own room then (haha doubt that will work!!). But I don't know what to do next few weeks. He's clearly tired at 6ish. I fed him to sleep at 6 last night and tried to sneak away thirty mins later and he was wide awake. I don't know what to do as DH doesn't get home til 6.35 and DS refuses to sleep on me in the living room when it's bedtime! What does everyone else do? DS is such a Velcro baby 🙈 think I will end up not seeing DH at all in the week.

@Hashtag that sounds a bit spooky!!!

Hope everyone else is sleeping 😴

So transfer failed. Tried pick up put down but that never ever worked with DD so don't know why I thought it would with him. Accepting defeat and having him sleep on me. Except now he's awake!!

I'm seriously not in the fucking mood for this tonight.

@hashtagtired eek that is very spooky!

@jellybean me and DH have barely spent any kid free time together this week. I've been going to bed with DS at 8 because that's when he's been falling asleep and don't want to miss out on sleep. Our lives are completely dictated by DS and his sleep. I really hate this stage!

Jellybean2017 · 08/02/2018 02:17

@Whoateallthepercypigs it's exhausting isn't it. DH goes to work before DS is awake in the morning so don't see him then. He leaves my breakfast outside the door. Then in the evening when DH gets home DS is tired and wants to go to bed so screams while I shovel dinner down. So we get about thirty minutes a day together while DS shouts. Don't know when I'm meant to eat though! DH and I end up texting each other from our separate bedrooms 🙈

DS is asleep on me. I'm too wired to sleep 😒

Hello all, I'm beside myself! I have a 3 week old who refuses to sleep at night. Tonight she is really fidgety and active. Will not be rocked or fed to sleep. Screams when I've put her down. She's currently in a sling which normally sends her straight to sleep but even that's not working tonight. I have a rockable Moses basket. Did have a next 2 me crib but she hated that even more. Have tried everything! Aaaaaaaaargh.

thingymaboob · 08/02/2018 02:28

She's like this 9/10 times.

lizzlebizzle33 · 08/02/2018 02:47

Mine was like this at this age, sounds like she still just wants mummy cuddles all the time.
It gets better, my boy is 3 months and sleeps in his cot from 8.30 bit from midnight onwards he's up for s BF almost every hour, it's hard work but s lot better than it was!xx

actino · 08/02/2018 04:59

Hi everyone. I've been using my phone sparingly for the last week, but just caught up on the last day of posts.

Dd had been sleeping ok, only two overnight wake ups. But, she's congested so takes up to an hour to go back to sleep in the cot. She is also starting to impose an 8 pm bedtime so I might be moving to the bedroom in the evenings.

I liked the weaning chat, I'm starting to think about it as Dd is now three months old. I do a buggy fitness class on Tuesdays and they are running a 6 week weaning and first foods course directly after, so I will get some information there.

Sakura03 · 08/02/2018 05:16

On no 2#feed here so far so good. Ds goes to bed with me between 10.30-11 pm, he will of course sleep during the evening and I put him down in the carrycot or he sleeps on me but that way I get an evening and I figure that if we ever have a second child then that wouldn’t happen so I’m making the most of it. I will start putting him to bed earlier soon though as he naturally seems to be getting tired earlie and not just catnapping, also would want to have a routine established (as much as it’s possible) before I go back to work in August.
Yesterday we were out from 9.45-3pm, I met up with a friend and had coffee and cake, then went to a few shops and fed ds in between so he had some good sleep as he loves his pram. Sometimes when I get home and he is still asleep in the pram I put him on the balcony and he’ll do another hour which means I get time to unpack, do the laundry or put my feet up for a bit. I have only done it three times so far, I’d like to try it out without the walk, so just put him in the pram and push him around a bit on the balcony to see if he’ll accept that and go to sleep. I’m tempted to try it out today for his mid morning nap, if it works then he’s definitely a “ Scandi baby”, my mum says I hated sleeping indoors and even in really cold temperatures slept outside in my pram wearing like a thousand layers (I have seen pictures).
Got to get packing today as will need to get up by 3.30 am on Friday to catch an early morning flight, I so hope I’ll manage to get some sleep Friday evening/night so it doesn’t go like last time where I had no sleep for 28 hours.

Morning everyone how's everyone doing?

So even with the ranitidine increase it's like back to square one

He's crying in pain after feeds and when he brings up milk he brought up atleast 30% of every feed all day yesterday

His grandma and grandad looked after him for 4hrs last night as my husband and I had an evening out the house just us first time in 3months.

We came home to his grandparents telling us how they finally understand our concerns that he had been crying in pain pulling up his legs on and off all night, bringing up clear spit up sometimes milk in it but had drained 2bottles with minimal spit up and no sick but was still upset and and uncomfortable.

He'd fallen asleep about 40mins before we got home timing wise he would've usually had 2hrs sleep under his belt by that time.

FIL use to work in pharmaceutical's for Drs and hospitals and so understand drugs what they do and therefore health problems and the symptoms etc he said looking at him and seeing his discomfort believes it's severe reflux and it's like he's wincing in pain when bringing up feed like acid making him have burning sensation and that's why he's crying maybe ?! They agreed it's not normal and he's not a happy chappy.

In a weird way a good thing because when so close to a problem day in day out battling against GP you start to get paranoid you are overreacting!

AMagdalena · 08/02/2018 08:54

@Jellybean I hear you! I need to set up the baby monitor, then hopefully, DD will let me sneak away for an hr or so.
However, I didn't mind going to bed early last night as I had a terrible migraine 😣

Not a bad night here as such (2 wake ups), but my migraine hasn'f passed yet, so I think I need to limit screen time today.

AMagdalena · 08/02/2018 11:28

Just had a carrot poo. No blood or mucous. I could cry right now 😢😂

MrsGB2225 · 08/02/2018 13:30

I'm not sure if he wakes up after 30 minutes because he's fallen asleep without having enough to eat. My husband keeps saying we should move to formula, but I'm not sure if it will make a difference.
I've had 3 evenings with my husband since the baby was born. I know it all passes, but I thought I'd see some progress by now!
To all the non sleeping babies out there... did you find the 4 month sleep regression made your babies sleep better/worse/no change?

Emberblu · 08/02/2018 13:55

Urgh naps aren't happening today! Sleeping on me for 20 minutes at a time doesn't count 😫 bad night last night too with dh having food poisoning plus ds waking every couple of hours 😞

Meepmoop · 08/02/2018 16:01

@Emberblu I'm with you with the no napping DS has had 10mins today. I've been out visiting and he's now asleep in the car so I've been through McDonald drive thru for a coffee while he snoozes in the car.

@MrsGB2225 is it naps that he only sleeps for half an hour for. My DS naps are usually 32 minutes, yep that exact. I think it's to go with sleep cycles

NinaMarieP · 08/02/2018 16:10

We're doing carrot tonight I think so I will be anticipating carrot poo tomorrow! On the plus side (so far) he's not pooping in the night, he's waiting until 8am or later when I'm slightly more likely to be awake enough to deal with it!

Meepmoop · 08/02/2018 16:42

DS has got broccoli, cabbage and cauliflower. Not looking forward to that coming through.

AMagdalena · 08/02/2018 17:48

Well, after initial good signs, blood made an unwelcome re-appearance, but I am not even convinced it's a reaction to carrot, so we're trying again.
Ugh, DD is loving it, I sure am not!

DH is now going to try to settle DD for a nap while I drown in the bath 🛁

Meepmoop · 08/02/2018 20:06

@AMagdalena sorry to hear there's been blood again. I hope you've made it out the bath.

After 4 attempts DS is in his cot, how long for we will find out shortly no doubt

Meepmoop · 08/02/2018 20:12

Well that lasted long......
