New thread for night (and daytime!) chatter for those awake more than they'd like with a non sleeping baby/child 😊

My DS is five months. First baby likely to be only baby if I don't start getting more sleep He is a nap and sleep fighter but incredibly cute so I choose to forgive him 😂

I really want some Toblerone.

Catscatsandmorecats · 06/02/2018 03:24

Aaaaaaarrrrrrggg! Teething is the bane of my life! DS will feed, be beautifully sleepy but then during the time I need to keep him.upright after s feed he gets all uncomfortable again and I can't get him down. He's had anbesol so they shouldn't be that sore.

DS1 was also up between the last two feeds so I'm wide awake now knowing DH will wake me up when he gets up for work in just one very an hour.

User I don't know, I am only aware from friends of their experiences but I think you should ask for a referral to a specialist as I haven't ever heard of what your GP is offering being done before.

Whoateallthepercypigs I have an arm flinger here too - and head thrasher, it's even worse with teething.

Right, time to start again and see if he'll go down.....

Jellybean2017 · 06/02/2018 03:53

@Whoateallthepercypigs haven't had a Toblerone in years. Going to buy one tomorrow (today!) now. A big one!!

Meepmoop · 06/02/2018 04:01

So DS heard my plea and slept 7 hours with one little wake up where I rolled him over and he went back to sleep. Think I'm in shock!

Sorry to hear that others are having a rubbish night. DS used to be very flingy with his arms but has grown out of it so hopefully yours will to. I have found that now DS can roll he does sleep a little better as he sleeps on his side/front

DiscombobulatedWomble · 06/02/2018 04:08

Mmm Toblerone. Shame I've just decided to try going dairy free to see if it helps madam with her gas issues Envy

Not sure how my eyes are still open they're so sore. DH is still having the cheek to moan he's tired :l although he did run me a bubble bath with candles at the weekend & even took LO out so I could completely relax so I guess he's not all bad Hmm then on the other hand he did casually say to me earlier "oh I'm probably going to be late home on the 14th of this month"
"Er.. you are kidding?"
"No why??"
"That's Valentine's Day"
"Oh, shit"
....

WhoAteAllthePercyPigs · 06/02/2018 04:09

You so should @jellybean!

After three failed transfers DS is of course wide awake and cooing away. I'm resigned to no sleep tonight.

Wow 7 hours @meep amazing! I don't think DS will ever manage that!

Jellybean2017 · 06/02/2018 05:31

DS has pooped and promptly fallen asleep. Great. Love waking him up to change his nappy.....

@meepmoop seven hours is amazing, sounds like you deserved it Flowers

lizzlebizzle33 · 06/02/2018 05:34

Oh dear 🙈

lizzlebizzle33 · 06/02/2018 05:36

I usually change my Ds around 2/3am but this time he was complete dry, just picked him up as he was having a moan and he's now wee'd that much I have to change his clothes and sleeping bag,... Oh joy

AMagdalena · 06/02/2018 07:55

Rubbish night here. Absolutely rubbish.
DD, you're supposed to be getting better, not worse, at this sleep thing.

@Meepmoop 7 hrs is amazing! I think DD will only ever manage 7 hrs of not sleeping, the way she's going.

Catscatsandmorecats · 06/02/2018 10:48

Whoop whoop for baby meepmoop!

Amagdalena it was a really crap night for me too, I only managed to snatch about 20 minutes sleep after 1.45. DS2 couldn't settle so ended up sleeping on me, then I finally managed to get him down and DH's alarm went off then just after he left DS1 got up ARGH!!!

Did the no cry pick up put down technique for DS2'S nap earlier, it worked but it meant I had very little time after he was down to get things done. I've got a to do list as long as my arm!

NinaMarieP · 06/02/2018 12:18

I just had to pick pea skins from LO's bum... Envy at least that proves he ate them! Oh the joys of weaning Grin

Jellybean2017 · 06/02/2018 16:18

😂 @ninamariep what a lovely job that must have been!

I'm stuck under DS while he naps. Chocolate is just out of reach, major error!!!

OP posts:
AMagdalena · 06/02/2018 16:45

@Nina How lovely... 🙈

We're restarting weaning tomorrow. I am really nervous. Hopefully carrot agrees with DD's bowels.

@Jellybeam tut-tut Schoolboy error, that! You should know to have tea, cake/biscuits and TV remote at the ready 😂

One of DD's naps was interrupted by Amazon delivery people. As I was getting ready to catch up East Enders Envy

Catscatsandmorecats · 06/02/2018 20:24

Here we go again everyone, good luck.

DS1 was asleep before I could even start stories, which was good but also we haven't done the proper process so I'm expecting to see him in the night. DS2 has been so bad today with his teeth that I'm not expecting a good night from.gim either! At least DH isn't off at some ungodly hour tomorrow

Meepmoop · 06/02/2018 20:25

Quiet this evening, has every one got their head down early? We're now doing bedtime feed, may have got glued to greys anatomy.

@NinaMarieP that sounds delightful, I wondered why my book said to sieve my pea puree, I guess that's why..

I made a potato, leek and cheese one today which DS seemed to really like.

Hoping tonight is going to be good one for all of us

NinaMarieP · 06/02/2018 20:31

We are skipping purées and just doing mashed food. So skins and lumps and mess!

AMagdalena · 06/02/2018 20:34

DD is nearly asleep after a monster bf sesh.

AMagdalena · 06/02/2018 20:46

Spoke too soon...
Sad

WhoAteAllthePercyPigs · 06/02/2018 20:49

Here I am! Not feeling too bad as had a nap this afternoon with DS which was lovely. Very tired day though, had a very scary moment driving to shops when I forgot where I was Confused not good, these sleepless nights are killing my brain cells!

For now I'm making my peace about DS sleeping on me for the latter part of the night. I'm doing it as safely as I can and it really seems the only way we can both get sleep. It is of course far from ideal - and so bad for my back - but, here we are.

I think he's having a leap as he's extra hungry and quite clingy right now. So am going to just surf the waves and hope for calm soon...

Praying I get a better night as have big day tomorrow going into my work for a maternity leaving lunch.

Loving the weaning chat! I'm looking forward to starting DS although still got 3 months to go. Did baby led weaning with DD - didn't work too well and caused me a lot of stress so am goinv to do purees with DS, to start with. I have a feeling he'll take to it well...

Good luck all! No doubt see you in a few hours...

Meepmoop · 06/02/2018 21:13

DS has woken up after 20mins not looking good.

@WhoAteAllthePercyPigs hope you get some sleep in. It really is hard going without sleep sometimes you need to do what you can to get some. I'll put my hand up and say I've slept more than a few times with DS in my arms

Catscatsandmorecats · 07/02/2018 02:33

Where is everyone? I hope getting some sleep!

DS2 has been up every hour, he resettles after a feed but he keeps waking, I suspect it's his teeth. I have only just managed to wee and clean my teeth! I have dosed him up but he's still thrashing around, I suspect he's got trapped wind now from all the comfort feeding.

I am absolutely shattered and feel sick, I'm not sure if it's due to tiredness (and holding on to wee for hours) or something I ate, or a bug. I managed to drop DS2 onto the fortunately very soft feeding pillow earlier. Please please please sleep for a decent amount of time now DS2!

whoateallthepercypigs I too am enjoying weaning chat, I can't wait to get going next month, we'll probably do mostly baby led as we enjoyed that with DS1 but it remains to be seen how DS2 will get on.

Meepmoop and amagdalena I hope your nights have got better

NinaMarieP · 07/02/2018 02:40

Noooope not asleep here. What was a routine 3 or 4 am feed is now a 2 or 2.30 feed... and the last two mornings he has woken at 5.30ish for a cry which stopped as soon as he was picked up. He was back asleep within about fifteen seconds both times but then woke at 6.20ish and then 7ish. So I'm fully expecting the same today...

Jellybean2017 · 07/02/2018 03:25

Very much Awake here. My eyes are burning. 😶
