Awake with newborn, anyone else? :)

My little boy is nine days old. He sleeps pretty well during the day but at night just wants to be held and breastfed. He doesn't settle in his moses basket at night (but he will quite often do so during the day)

Anyone else up doing the same?! I'm not keen on the idea of co-sleeping but would be grateful for any advice. Baby sleeps in a gro-snug and we have a dream sheep but I'm guessing this frequent feeding and love of cuddles in the night is probably just par for the course at this early stage? 😊 I am napping during the day so I'm probably averaging about 6 hrs sleep in a 24 hr period.

DD wide awake within 5 mins of being put down 👌

Jellybean2017 · 29/10/2017 03:56

It hasn't made a difference here... Same sort of night except Daddy will be getting woken at 4am at this rate 😂 he went to sleep at 8.45 though ha.

Well I'm up but she went down at 11pm so pretty happy. Just finishing feed number one.

HashtagTired · 29/10/2017 04:20

I’m on feed number three...since midnight!

Lovingtyrells · 29/10/2017 06:05

Hyperactive all night here, plus tried to do nappy change in the dark and everything went flying so won’t be doing that again !

AMagdalena · 29/10/2017 11:44

Lovingtyrells I've got one of those gro light switches . Brilliant for nappy changes in the dark

GinUnicorn · 29/10/2017 15:08

Wow soinds like a Long night for some of us

Ohb0llocks · 29/10/2017 15:09

I’ll be joining you all tonight no doubt. Night 2 on the postnatal ward.

HashtagTired · 29/10/2017 15:19

I get to sleep 8-12 on my own as my husband stays up to look after ds so I get sleep. Then feeds at midnight, 2:30, 5am, 8am then the school run with dd.

Lallypopstick · 29/10/2017 19:05

Congratulations OhB0llocks - how are you doing?

Jellybean2017 · 29/10/2017 19:50

Yes, congratulations OhB0llocks 😊

DS has refused to nap since lunchtime so I reckon I will be in for a bad night. And I'm already shattered 🙈

Is there anyone else who can’t give baby to husband as they feed so often ?! Sometimes it’s 30mins and DS is 8.5 weeks !

EightyNine · 29/10/2017 20:13

Lovingtyrells Mine is six months and I'm only just able to give him to others! At five months he was still feeding every 1.5 hours during the day! At night he still won't settle without me. He's DS2 and we've decided we're not having anymore, so I'm making sure I cherish every cuddle Smile

GinUnicorn · 29/10/2017 20:21

Congratulations ohbollocks!

Jellybean did is a terrible day napper trying to enforce this but guess 6 weeks is too early

Lovingtyrells I sympathise mine is similar x

Ohb0llocks · 29/10/2017 22:10

Stressed!

DS came down with a sickness bug the morning DS2 was born. He’ll be 48 hours clear in the morning. However DM who is looking after him has just started with it. What do I do about him visiting!?

GingerHanna · 29/10/2017 22:56

So... DS is now just just shy of seven hours old and I cannot sleep!

Tried for an hour and then he started making little noises... had a few louder wails so picked him up wondering if he wanted to feed but then he just fell asleep in my arms. I have never been so happy or besotted!

So now I really need to try and sleep but am wide awake and he occasionally makes little grunts and small cries that aren’t really cries. He is back in his crib and DH is dead to the world.

Oh well. There are worst things to be awake for! Gratuitous baby picture added because well, why wouldn’t I?!

Awake with newborn, anyone else? :)
k567 · 30/10/2017 03:11

Someone please remind my baby that the clocks have changed. Thank you Halloween Grin

HashtagTired · 30/10/2017 03:18

.

HashtagTired · 30/10/2017 03:21

Congratulations! What a cutie! Hope you got some rest.

So. Awake feeding ds. Dd has been up with a jippy tummy 🙄 (told her no more sweets or choc for a day or two, and it isn’t even Halloween yet!)

Jellybean2017 · 30/10/2017 07:38

Ahh congratulations Ginger 😊

OhB0llocks I would be worried about him visiting you too... 48 hours clear is the general rule though.

I think my baby is cluster feeding again... Is this a thing again at 12 weeks!?

Congrats ginger & I love the outfit where is it from?
I am trying to remind myself that this is a great gift and I shouldn’t complain about no sleep but it’s really hard ! Still not had more than 2 hours since birth. I’m glad I’m not the only one with a very frequent feeder as others seem to go 4hours plus by this age.

Are people still going out and about? I have been and don’t feel shy feeding in public but it does make things more tricky.

GinUnicorn · 30/10/2017 10:43

Ginger congrats! So cute!

Lovingtyrells i have a feeding cover for being out and about. Sadly I have no mum friends in London so little opportunity to use but it's really good. Can send you the link of you like?

HashtagTired · 30/10/2017 11:05

Yup. A frequent feeder here too.

NinaMarieP · 30/10/2017 11:30

Yep I’ve been all over the place. Rhyme time at the library, playgroup, lunch and coffees in half a dozen different places. Sometimes I’m lucky and he manages to go without a feed til we’re home but if not I just get on with it. Really don’t care as I just focus on my LO.

I’m suffering this week though after all that good sleep were in a 12-4-7 routine now and this morning he wouldn’t settle again after the 4am feed. Even in my arms he was wriggling and complaining every fifteen to twenty minutes 😰

NinaMarieP · 30/10/2017 11:34

But on the plus side he’s stayed at his gran and grandad’s for a few hours each weekend. We got some housework done one week and went to the cinema the other. Bliss!
