Hello.

It's been pointed out to us a few times now that our Acronyms and abbrevations list needs updating.

So, since you're the ones who really know your AIBUs from your AFAIKs, please tell us what you think should get the chop (if anything) and what needs adding.

TTFN (not that one, pls!)

BOAK is on here a lot & I've no idea what it means. So can it go on the list, with the definition?

JackBauer · 16/04/2010 19:29

Do I Look Like I Give A Fuck

Fuck the fuck off and when you get there, fuck the fuck off again.

Or
Fuck the fuck off and fuck off again when you get there.

The first is clearly superior.

TerryWogansCock · 16/04/2010 19:29

ive never seen BOAK and ive been here years a while

are you sure its not as in makes you want to puke?

JackBauer · 16/04/2010 19:30

I thought was as well.

Am ignoring the TWC voting as it makes me thinking about it.

TerryWogansCock · 16/04/2010 19:31

IHI - im highly insulted

purpleturtle · 16/04/2010 19:45

I was trying to work out which poster had insulted you, but couldn't see anyone with the initials IHI.

Beasknees - EBF = exclusive breast feeding / exclusively breast fed. EBM = expressed breast milk, well AFAIK...

MitsubishiWarrioress · 16/04/2010 20:21

Rubs shoulders with TWC........ XX

gruber · 16/04/2010 20:22

NWOC - Nanny With Own Child

JackBauer · 16/04/2010 20:22
wastingaway · 16/04/2010 20:37

Driven, I thought is was usually applied to Extended Breast Feeding.

Waves to TWC.

TerryWogansCock · 16/04/2010 20:57

i thought of another acronym for the list

GAL - get a life

MitsubishiWarrioress · 16/04/2010 21:07

Can that be OFGSGAT? Oh for God's sake, get a life....

TerryWogansCock · 16/04/2010 21:10

or even OFGSGAL ? mitts

MimsyStarr · 16/04/2010 21:17

Embarrassed to say when I started on the TTC threads, I didn't know what AF stood for. Or POAS. BD too, though doesn't seem to get used that much any more.

MitsubishiWarrioress · 16/04/2010 21:19

Ha.. yes.. I was just testing that you were paying attention..

Oh My TWC..you are all puffed up with pride at being a smartarse aren't you?

DrivenToDistraction · 16/04/2010 21:19

wastingaway, really? I usually see it in the context of '...my 3 month old is EBF and he...' or '...why won't my EBF 5 month old sleep through...'. I'll keep an eye out, maybe I've got the wrong end of the stick

MitsubishiWarrioress · 16/04/2010 21:20

Oh I HATE 'AF'. I really do. I use it sometimes but it makes my teeth itch.

ilovepiccolina · 16/04/2010 21:23

Yes, it's as in makes you want to puke. But I thought it was an acronym. . So it's just the sound, then, and the letters don't stand for anything?

wastingaway · 16/04/2010 21:26

Driven it must depend on context then. My little boy is 2 now, so well past being exclusively bf and I must look at extended feeding threads more.

TerryWogansCock · 16/04/2010 21:27

Yes i hate AF too, its should be changed to TMHL - the martians have landed

oh mitts MMTI (makes my teeth itch) is a good one

JackBauer · 16/04/2010 21:30

AF is truly boaksome. What are we all? Simpering maids? FFS

DrivenToDistraction · 16/04/2010 21:34

Mmmmm, well, a quick root around in the archive seems to suggest that EBF is used more or less equally frequently for exclusive BF and for extended BF. Handy!

I think wasting is right, I've got a two year old and a 10 month old...

Talking of acronyms that should be banned, I hate TMI, particularly in a thread title. Something like 'Question about piles (TMI warning)' really gets my goat, because it's not TMI, it's the information necessary to provide and answer to the question. Can see how it could be fair comment about the content of someone else post but otherwise. Argh.

MinnieMummy · 16/04/2010 22:18

Apologies DriventoDistraction but a few days ago I posted a 'TMI-piles' question - added the 'TMI' bit just out of politeness I suppose. You know, in case anyone accidentally clicked on a piles thread (not even convincing myself there...)
