So, MNHQ, bedecked in LKBennett (and Boden for the plebs) are all out stuffing pizza and Bolly, half of the posters and hangers-on are there too: what mischief shall we get up to while they're away?

Because I bet they've just left BigTech in charge. Or he/she'll be checking in every once in a while, a bit pished and lairy.

So we can DO. WHAT. WE. LIKE. while the Leaders party.

ALL deserved an invitation for services to MN

yes, VERY rude to uninvite somebody

2010aQuintessentialOdyssey · 03/03/2010 22:36

maybe they have outgrown their boots.

MamaGisNFI · 03/03/2010 22:37

maybe they have Q, maybe they have

Heathcliffscathy · 03/03/2010 22:38

thing is mamag, everyone's list would be different wouldn't it?

why am i defending this [thunks self on head]

LilyBolero · 03/03/2010 22:39

So mean to uninvite someone. Especially when people like Johnnie Boden and Annabel karmel (who let's face it, haven't contributed a huge amount to MN over the years) were there.

MamaGisNFI · 03/03/2010 22:39

oh yes

but joking aside - boco for the pics, tiktok & hunker for the HOURS they spend on bf threads, lulu amd mars ditto childbirth/pg stuff etcetc

2010aQuintessentialOdyssey · 03/03/2010 22:40

Sure, but people who have actually done work, given their time, not "just" be helpful when posting.

(We ALL are that of course )

bibbitybobbityhat · 03/03/2010 22:41

And (per Beetroot) was PPH there? I wish I could stop being so nosey.

Ponders · 03/03/2010 22:41

lapin
soapbox
St G
mears

MamaGisNFI · 03/03/2010 22:42

well I'm sure that i wouldn't be moaning if I'd been there in all my finery quaffing champagne and saying "aren't I special"!

CaptainNancy · 03/03/2010 22:42

Am I alone in thinking how odd it was not to have a single non-white face in the room?
It made me feel that mn is perhaps not quite so diverse and representative of the wider population as we think it is.

Ledodgy · 03/03/2010 22:43

Soapbox - Christmas appeal

It's not subjective though is it? The blatantly obvious were missed out an imho that sucks.

MamaGisNFI · 03/03/2010 22:43

I'm going to shut up now before Justine de-regs me or outs my current alter-ego anme chnage

2010aQuintessentialOdyssey · 03/03/2010 22:43

I think it is important to recognise that important and influential people are more important to mnhq than mumsnetters. Who would give a toss about a party with only mumsnetters? The medja for sure would not be interested. So there would not be a chance to make money out of that party long term. It was a PR exercise not a birthday celebration.

But realistically, what is the actual cost of an additional 5-10 people in a party? Really?

2010aQuintessentialOdyssey · 03/03/2010 22:44

MamaG, I am sure nobody would be deregged from given their honest opinion, free speach and democracy, right?

I am too old and jaded to care whether I am banned.

Heathcliffscathy · 03/03/2010 22:45

women women there is NO WAY you would ever be banned from MN for criticising it!

this ain't moldies you know! (couldn't resist emoticon)

BecauseImWorthIt · 03/03/2010 22:46

But Lapin, soapbox and StG (don't know about mears) aren't on MN any more are they, so why should they have been invited?

I think it's incredibly difficult for MN - they were always going to offend someone by not inviting them.

(Although agree the 'disinviting' of sophable was a silly mistake).

And MN is a business - you have to look at the bigger picture in terms of the role of the party.

It would have been lovely to have a MN party where we could all have been invited, but that's hardly feasible, is it?

Ledodgy · 03/03/2010 22:46

Was Misdee there? I bloody hope she was invited since Peter's name was used as an example of mn moments in the paper the other week. I assume she must have been.

eitbomh · 03/03/2010 22:46

MamaG, I think we'd all guessed your namechange

It was inevitable that they would invite some of their favourites, I am sure some of the more longstanding MNers are personal friends of J and C. It's their party etc etc. But "uninviting" someone is just shocking behaviour.

Heathcliffscathy · 03/03/2010 22:46

you'd need hyde park BIWI!

MamaGisNFI · 03/03/2010 22:46

lol

i was just kidding

hence teh bit about my alter ego name change

2010aQuintessentialOdyssey · 03/03/2010 22:47

CaptainNancy, really?

Well, you can quite understand why no overseas posters were invited.

MamaGisNFI · 03/03/2010 22:47

eithbomh are you sERIOUS
do you know its me?

tell me firs tletter

BecauseImWorthIt · 03/03/2010 22:48

...and I realise that I posted that as someone who was at the party. But I was a guest of a competition winner. I made no other valuable contribution, beyond my superlative personality .

Not.

Ledodgy · 03/03/2010 22:48

Lol MamaG I am thinking I won't win any MN competitions in the near future.
