So, MNHQ, bedecked in LKBennett (and Boden for the plebs) are all out stuffing pizza and Bolly, half of the posters and hangers-on are there too: what mischief shall we get up to while they're away?

Because I bet they've just left BigTech in charge. Or he/she'll be checking in every once in a while, a bit pished and lairy.

So we can DO. WHAT. WE. LIKE. while the Leaders party.

animula, you don't know my son. clearly.

early era is JUST NOT AT ALL INTERESTING AT ALL.

I've tried arguing that starwars is not strictly a book and he points to exhibit a: his starwars visual encyclopaedia (who's bloody idea was that?)

Ledodgy · 03/03/2010 22:01

Sophable the fact is it was rude plain and simple. It was also rude that others who had contributed to MN and their publications/cards such as Boco weren't invited. That I can't understand.

It all smacks to me of hypocrisy tbh.

A few mumsnetters buggered off to a Birthday party leaving the rest of the rif raff behind. Those who weren't on the Birthday table are torn between being fascinated by what went on and being disgruntled at not being invited. I can't think what that reminds me of...

onebatmother · 03/03/2010 22:02

I wonder if it was because there was a bit of grumbling about 'favourite mumsnetters' being invited at one stage Soph, and so was thought impolitic?

Pofacedagain · 03/03/2010 22:04

I don't want to appear ungrateful in any way but I do feel there should have been more Mnetters there. There was much talk about how wonderful MN was but felt a bit odd when so few actually there. And poorly handled with regards to soph.

ahundredtimes · 03/03/2010 22:05

No, I don't understand Boco either. And Soph's story is a bit eek (though I like how Pointy enjoyed it).

But they can't invite everyone Ledodgy, and it is their party etc.

Finally, I'd like it known that this is your basic straggler look. Uhuh. We're a cool yet yearning group

MmeLindt · 03/03/2010 22:06

I was never bothered about not being invited to sit at the birthday table. It was obvious that they could not invite everyone in the class and there were bound to be some DC left out.

Sofable
I am squirming in embarrassment on MNHQ's behalf.

Spoof · 03/03/2010 22:07

So, who went through winning haiku comp, and who got exclusive invites? (disinvited or otherwise)

Heathcliffscathy · 03/03/2010 22:07

oh god you know...lines in sand have to be drawn somewhere etc etc.

is impossible isn't it.

unless you invite someone by mistake in which case you could just swallow the extra number.

I COULDN'T GO ANYWAY...genuinely as had not cheap ballet tix to new work triple bill...and it was great.

perhaps not as great as eyeing up kathy fletts handbag/shouting at GB about iraq (that's why i was a liability, i wouldn't have honest), and seeing cod and MP again...) but very very lovely nevertheless.

MamaGisNFI · 03/03/2010 22:07

[sophable]

bibbity is that me?

I'm having a party on Saturday and I'm afraid you're not invited HQ

Ledodgy · 03/03/2010 22:07

No I don't expect them to invite everyone but Boco and others like her surely should have been top of the list and as for the dis-inviting of Soph or anyone that's very bad form.

MmeLindt · 03/03/2010 22:07

ooops. And now I have called you Sofable instead of Sophable.

Sorry.

I blame too many years in Germany, they don't do ph's.

Arrgh.

MamaGisNFI · 03/03/2010 22:07

FUCK tht looks like I'm hugging sopahble!! I don't do huygs! I meant to put sophable

Heathcliffscathy · 03/03/2010 22:08

i was watching this it was absolutely stunning and if there are any tix left you must go

MamaGisNFI · 03/03/2010 22:08

yyy boco sould def have been invited and me ffs

Pofacedagain · 03/03/2010 22:09

you could have a haiku competition MamaG. Or a sonnet if you really want to iron out the riff raff.

sophable - that is v. cute, re. your son. Sorry. But it is. We had the cross-sections book of Star Wars technical things. Oh boy, was I bored reading that at bed-time. And the karate outfit is from experience.

If I ever have a party, I'll invite you sophable. Though I can see it wouldn't be the same.

Pofaced - yes. More mn-ers would, I think, have made for more fun, surely? And, as you say, more in the spirit of what I think we feel mn "is". I wonder if part of it was a security thing? I suppose it's the trade-off between community and professionalism as mn gets bigger. I'm sure Swedes would have v. insghtful things to say.

That said - I really don't want to take the shine off the event. Which I'm pleased about (even though i wasn't there) on so man levels.

Ledodgy · 03/03/2010 22:14

MammaG hello! I was thinking about you the other night (like you do) and remembered tht controversial thread you started when you were newish and everyone including me came down on you like a ton of bricks , what the hell was that thread about because I can't even remember. My first post was on the bf board arguing with Moondog. I soon learnt.

It's a shame you weren't invited you could have worn your scarf.

Ledodgy · 03/03/2010 22:15

*mama I mean I gave you an extra M.

MamaGisNFI · 03/03/2010 22:16

I made someone cry in rl and came on mn to crow about it, a bit

yy ton of bricks,

i couldn't have worn my scarf, its not boden

I'm glad you were thinking abotu me though

animula · 03/03/2010 22:16

... pleased on so many levels.

Seriously, when I went back to university after the dc, I was patronised sooo much because I had dc. And mn is a v. large stick to whack the patronisers with.

WilfSell · 03/03/2010 22:22

Right. Have finally finished making rats and hats

Can read thread properly. Where are the best photos please?

I wonder how many mumsnetters who have given their time and skills for free to mumsnet, did not get an invite?

It is true that not every member can be invited, but it strikes me a little crass maybe, when people such as Boco, who did the lovely Christmas cards, were not invited.

And to uninvite people? That is beyond rude.
