As some of you may know, this is our tenth year in existence and we thought it would be nice to put together a list of the top ten MN moments during those ten years - obviously not all of you are as old in the tooth as me but everyone's thoughts welcome.

So by way of a starter for ten here and distinctly off the top of my head (so don't shout if I've missed you out!) are some of our most memorable moments/mn events...

Feel free to violently disagree add your own - am sure, being so decrepit we've forgotten loads.

In no particular order...

Christening of SWMNBN and MP's apology for rockets gag
Mile 4 Maude
First live birth
Christmas appeals generally
Biscuitgate
bottom butter
tim dowling and wife - hammering it out on MN
David Cameron's massive panniers
AIBU generally
Pirate sex
Misdee and Peter and the heart transplant
Is that UCM?

The one where FrannyandZoey's DS made a very lifelike Penis out of clay.

popsycal · 18/01/2010 19:57

Angeliz · 21/01/2010 09:08

Hey Popsy

popsycal · 21/01/2010 18:22

i am good
3DSs now

UnquietDad · 22/01/2010 21:05

I've remembered another one. Sorry if this has already been mentioned.

The DH whose history showed he had been googling "Emma Thompson's tits". To general hilarity.

I (a) expressed my dismay that a grown man surfing for porn did not know how to delete his Internet history

and

(b) suggested that it might have been Emma Watson whose norks he was after ogling.

In retrospect, (b) may not have helped him to be in any less trouble.

The thread about what would you really like to put in a Mother's Day Card if you could tell the truth.

Especially...

'Mother, I would love you more if you called me less.'

sunchowder · 04/03/2010 02:04

OMG--I haven't read through all of these pages, but has anyone mentioned the Stealing the Grapes thread? How about all the stolen shopping lists that have been left in the buggys and posted them for all of us to see? And Soupy's bat links??? Has anyone mentioned Dadlib? I remember when he called me ClamChowder!! Those were the days....

Eulalia · 04/03/2010 12:42

Happy Birthday Mumsnet! I haven't got anything memorable to add, except to say that Mumsnet has been around for a significant part of my life. I remember most of the above but am not on much these days. However Justine I have a question. I joined Mumsnet in 2000 (although the first post I found was Feb 2001 (maybe you don't have earlier ones recorded?)) and wondered if anyone else was still around from the early days? I have looked through some of the really old threads and don't recognise the names from recent posts. I think from memory prettycandles is quite old as well. (in Mumsnet years of course!)

If not then do I win a prize for being the oldest member?!

Eulalia · 04/03/2010 12:44

PS forgot to say, although I guess you have it all recorded that I have never name-changed. Thanks.

MotherofOne · 04/03/2010 16:58

Hi Eulalia
I remember you!
I joined about 2000 too IIRC, so will fight you for an 'oldie' title!

However, embarrassingly, I appear to have had 70 name changes (although many just for fun/events etc).

I wish I knew who else was still here from the very beginning (2000/2001) as I've lost track.

Eulalia · 05/03/2010 10:17

Oh hi MotherofOne. You know you made a point I very dimmly didn't think of. I said I didn't recognise names but it could be because folk have different ones now (dur!) Bit busy today but maybe we should start a thread for the founder members?

blouseenthusiast · 05/03/2010 10:22

I remember you both! My reg number is 170, am thinking of flogging it. Have had veh many namechanges though...

DrNortherner · 05/03/2010 10:29

Kewcumbers sdoption
Judge Flounce
Mad table cloth woman
Lavenderrrrr

DrNortherner · 05/03/2010 10:32

Kate and the girls deserves a mention too.

ToccataAndFudge · 05/03/2010 10:53

gosh just read the whole thread - so many funny moments I remember

my most memorable thread (which I think was in chat as it was before the days of AIBU) was when I asked if I should leave DS2 sleeping in his cot while I popped next door to get DS1 from his induction day at school.

There was absolute hysteria on the thread and it was my first thread to reach 1000+ posts.

I did eventually post literally seconds before I left the house, and again as soon as I stepp through the door and loads of people couldn't believe I'd actually been out to the school to get him

DrNortherner · 05/03/2010 11:26

Just reading this thread makes me laugh. I had forgotten about all the fun times MN has provided.

Wasn't there a poster called Gravity who started a storm by posting about how gorgeous she was?

How about OOOOOoooo I'd love a conservatory..

bernadetteoflourdes · 07/03/2010 13:16

@CLAIG >

alibubbles · 08/03/2010 11:23

Eulalia, I have been around as long as you too, found one of my first posts in very early 2001, but had lurked beforehand.

bernadetteoflourdes · 08/03/2010 12:15

hah posted on the wrong cocking thread didn't I. Coz I was so lashed. Twas still a memorable momento
