HelenMumsnet · 02/07/2009 12:46

Woolworths.co.uk are offering Mumsnetters family tickets (for four people) to a special, red-carpet showing of Ice Age 3 in 3D this Saturday morning (4 July).

The London showing is full but there are still tickets for Aberdeen, Birmingham, Brighton, Cardiff, Castelford, Didsbury, Edinburgh, Hull, Ipswich, Milton Keynes, Nottingham and Sheffield.

If you'd like one, please email your full name, address and preferred cinema to [email protected]. But get your skates on: tickets are limited and will be offered on a strictly first-come, first-served basis.

mamazon... i might have seen you! def saw someone weraring green, and i was looking out for potential MN'ers lol

i had a baby strapped to me in a stripy sling, a very wriggly toddler and an over-excited 4 yr old

hulababy- you got lots more than I did in my goody bag. am jealous now! lol

Hulababy · 05/07/2009 21:54

thisisyesterday - had assumed all goodie bags would be same. I am sure Katz had same as me - both Sheffield.

LackaDAISYcal - thank you Have to admit that only one of the girls was mine - dark haired one with pigtails and dress on and face of freckles 2 of them were Katz's girls - the smallest plus the dark haired girl in shorts and ahir down. The other two girls were borrowed from friends

Will let you know if I spot where more have been uploaded. Found these via the Team Woolies Twitter.

LackaDAISYcal · 05/07/2009 22:17

five girls all behaving well is still no mean feat!!!

my goody bag was roughly the same as hula's except a ben 10 toy rather than jigsaw. All the boy's stuff was stuff that DS loves, and although DD is a bit young for polly pocket and barbie, she loved the sunglasses and the purse and is sooo excited to have a car all to herself as DS "gifted" her the Lightning McQueen car

clumsymum · 06/07/2009 08:51

Our goodie bag Very similar to yours Hula, I assumed they were all the same.

I'm still thinking of DS's face, as the first thing he pulled out of it was a VERY pink 'My Little Pony'

Hello MNers!

As mentioned earlier in the thread, you can now book free cinema tickets on the site from today:

www.woolworths.co.uk/rf/wlo/static.do?page=first1

KingCanuteIAm · 09/07/2009 22:09

Hi Adam, can you answer a query or two for me please?

I have registered for the tickets, I got a voucher etc but it seems that I have to take my coucher to the cinema on the day and, if I am lucky, there will be enough tickets left and I will get them, is that right?

So, I may not get tickets on the day? I have to drive to the cinema on the day but may get nothing?

Also, how does it know which cinema I want to go to? It didn't ask whcih cinema I wanted so how can it tell when a certain cinema is full or do you not bother with that?

Finally, it has given me no details of what the film even is, so, do we have to wait until we arrive on the day before we even find out what film we are going to be offered?

I have to confess to being very confused!

KingCanuteIAm · 09/07/2009 22:14

Ahh, I have found the list of films... are they all on offer at every cinema or is it one at each... now I am more^ confused

RubberAdam · 09/07/2009 23:49

Hey KingCanuteIAM,

Yes, you can take your pick of those films when you arrive at the cinema and the voucher will be fine as long as the cinema isn't full. Does your voucher tell you times? I'd get there 10 minutes early to be careful but highly unlikely it'll be full on a Sat morning, even with the VIF offer

KingCanuteIAm · 10/07/2009 00:00

No, nothing about times anywhere. TBH, I am not sure if I am happy about driving an hour away if I have no way of being sure I actually have tickets IYSWIM!

I am very confused about the whole thing really. I thought you were offering for us to book free tickets for a saturday showing but it is actually the possibility of free tickets if we are lucky and are able/happy to sit around in a cinema for ages before the film starts?

It actually says on he click through "get you free cinema tickets" not "get a voucher which means you may be able to get free tickets"

I really don't mean to sound ungrateful, the Ice Age thing was fab and we were very happy with our experience but I am just not convinced by this.

Sky offer free cinema tickets for selected films (they are exclusive previews too not older films that are due to leave the cinema soon) and you actually get a ticket (usually 2 or 4 tickets actually) none of this "turn up on saturday and we will see if you get lucky".

RubberAdam · 10/07/2009 11:59

I think that's very useful feedback and will pass it on. A system based on availability seems important to me rather than possibility for all. Cineworld run the Woolworths kids club to the general public charging £1 to all non-VIFs so that makes things a bit more complicated with guaranteees.

However, you should have no problem getting in but to get a feel of how comfortable it will be nobody knows until they've been to one

  • Sat mornings showings are at 10AM.
KingCanuteIAm · 10/07/2009 12:09

I do understand that you sell tickets too, I think that is a great thing. Perhaps it could be done where a certain %age per showing, per film, per cinema are held back to be allocated to VIF and any not claimed by VIF by the midnight before the showing are released back for general sale?

The form on the site would just need 2 extra selection boxes for selecting the Cinema and the Film.

Thank you for letting me know the time

Goober · 10/07/2009 13:49

Sat mornings DO get very busy. Go to Cineworld site for times as all 3 films start at a different time. 10, 10.10, or 10.15.
If the offer isn't honoured KCIA, the tickets are £1 each, you can buy them.

KingCanuteIAm · 10/07/2009 14:04

Thank you Goober, I will have a look at the times! (am feeling this is a lot of work though to save £$ )

MerlinsBeard · 11/07/2009 14:19

SO the ticket thing is just a voucher that i would take with me to my nearest cinema which is very very full on saturday mornings so i would present it there - no tickets available, go to next nearest (another 2 buses) and there are none available there.

Why is there no guarantee?

Such a faff around! Sounds like there will never be any available so that everyone pays £1 each tbh

KingCanuteIAm · 11/07/2009 17:21

It seems like a bit of a something and nothing to me too MOM, more soundbytes than anything substantial.

tootiredtothink · 11/07/2009 20:40

The last two times I have tried to go to the kids club on Sat mornings we haven't been able to get in!!!

Queues we running way outside the cinema (although only a small cinema), 20 minutes before the film was due to start.

RubberAdam · 12/07/2009 12:31

So....did anyone get to the cinema yesterday? Hope you got in all OK. I think it'd be a good idea to try and have more of a guarantee other than getting their early. Will pass on, thanks!

KingCanuteIAm · 12/07/2009 17:09

Sorry RA, I didn't, I decided that it was safer to book tickets for our local kids club cinema than risk going to that one and not being able to get in - which is a shame as the films you had on were better!

I would be vey interested if you changed the setup but I think it is a bit of a non-starter as it stands!

Goober · 12/07/2009 19:56

We went yesterday.
Saw Tranformers.
Paid full price.
Bluddy good film though!

We do often go to "Movies for Juniors" so hopefully will be taking advantage of some freebieness in future. The last one we went to was Alvin And The Chipmunks, 3 weeks ago. I had a good rest!!
