No to moderators from me too.
I was a mod on another site for a while and it took the fun out of posting. Mind, it was a different ilk of forum.

Well I posted on a site this morning which was moderated and I used the word bitching. It came back as "pregnant doging" and I didn't preview before I posted either. not that I usually swear you understand!!

Eh? Pregnant doging? Is that watching pregnant people have sex?

I prefer bitching!

no it's a pregnant dog which is of course is a bitch. Well any female dog is of course, pg or not!

Clasic case against moderators I feel!

OMG - you couldn't possibly have moderation of that kind on MN - the pedants would go mad! It should of course be pregnant dogging.

All the apostophe containing posts would take hours to appear due to close scrutiny.

None of my posts would appear due to spelling .

That's right it should be dogging but it was posted up as doging!!!!

Either way I imagine the post to be

'....my mil was bitching pregnant doging about her....'

Which has me giggling.

it went something like "I wish we could stop all the bitching pregnant dogging and be nice"

I think MN should be a bit more general about deleting- such as when someones mental health is at risk or a lot of people have been upset by a post that is deliberately provocative- but mods probably not. more input from MN would be good though.

MN is what it is because it is NOT moderated. Moderators suck the LIFE out of a forum... they feed off the power!

I think MN'ers do a pretty good job of moderating themselves, people fight their corners and their beliefs and if anyone is offended terribly the post gets reported and often then deleted.

Don't fix it if it aint broke!
