Is it maybe time for mumsnet to get a few moderators on board?

Please don't ruin mumsnet I will have to stop reading it incessantly and pay my family some attention god forbid

Robespierre · 15/05/2009 17:40

Thanks Lenin, for answer.

solidgoldSneezeLikeApig · 15/05/2009 17:49

Definitely not. The sort of people who want moderation usually want to be moderators themselves - and they are invariably hissy-fit-throwing, paranoid, narrow-minded silly cunts who cause far more trouble and ill-feeling than you get on an unmoderated site.

Hulababy · 15/05/2009 17:53

MN used to have moderators. But the moderators had no real power, over what a non moderator could do. The only thing extra (everyone can report posts) was that they could use the term Moderator in a name change to address individuals or groups on a thread.

After solidgoldSneezeLikeApig's post however I am not sure I want to admit to having once been a MN moderator, or a Moderator on another site. [hmmm]

FWIW I am not sure if Mn really needs moderators, as most MNetters are on the ball and will report posts that go against what MN is all about, and there are plenty on people at MNHQ to be on hand to sort them out promptly. Moderators are needed more on sites where there is only one or two owners of a site, as extra back up really.

Robespierre · 15/05/2009 17:55

I didn't realise that mods would be special elite posters. I thought they would be paid drones at MNHQ. The paid drones would be bad enough. But elite posters as mods would be the seventh circle of hell.

MrsWeasley · 15/05/2009 17:57

What AnarchyAunt said!

BecauseImWorthIt · 15/05/2009 18:45

Would there be a badge?

FlappytheBat · 15/05/2009 18:47

No, next thing you know we will have sparkly bits and time thingy's.

Works fine as it is.

differentID · 15/05/2009 18:53

Surely we are all, in our own way, moderators?

No. Don't want moderation AT ALL.

BecauseImWorthIt · 15/05/2009 18:58

PMSL at the thought of trying to moderate you, Kerry!

MintyyAeroEgg · 15/05/2009 19:07

To OP - no. What made you pose the question now?

BecauseImWorthIt · 15/05/2009 19:09

Minty - there have been a couple of very horrible threads over the last day or so, with very unpleasant things being hurled around.

I have reported spammers etc and MNHQ are quick to send a post it note to Tech in the shed to 'sort it'. Normally works out OK.

Quint how are you?

daftpunk · 15/05/2009 19:25

tootiredtothink · 15/05/2009 19:25

Good god no, no, no!!!
