Fancy trying out a virtual personal trainer? (NB You need to be able to get to Covent Garden, London without children...)

EA Sports are looking for 30 Mumsnetters to come along to a special event being held in Covent Garden on Wednesday May 13th between 11am and 4pm.

The event consists of:

~ A free nutritional lunch (always a priority!)

~ A chance to meet celebrity sportsman Austin Healey and nutritionist Nigel Denby plus an unconfirmed celebrity mum

~ A chance to win a Nintendo Wii and an advanced copy of the EA Sports Active game (the one that's like a virtual personal trainer)

Everyone who attends will receive a fitness bag with goodies and a chance to be among the first to play the game. They'll also be given the chance to sign up for a 30 day trial of the game. All those who sign up to the 30 day trial will be given a free copy of the game to test.

Travelling expenses up to £10 will be paid, but unfortunately they can't accommodate children on the day (something to do with it being held at the PR company's offices so health and safety issues). Dress is casual - you can come in full fitness gear, but you can also play the game in office clothes/ jeans etc.

You can spend as long or as little time as you like but they recommend that you have at least an hour or two free.
If you're interested, please sign up here

Not got mine yet

futurity · 01/06/2009 13:36

Just phoned the delivery office and they said it was a card...must be a birthday card as it was my birthday yesterday

so still wondering if it will come on the van later...

foofi · 01/06/2009 13:38

Mine's not here either - just posted on the other thread about it.

futurity · 01/06/2009 13:44

i hope it does turn up today...I hate it when you are waiting for something to be delivered and the whole not knowing thing. Thankfully DH in all today so I will not miss any van delivery but tomorrow I will be in and out all day..will probably miss it..won't be able to get to the office to pick it up as don't have car...so will have to wait until Wednesday!

Which doesn't really tie in well with starting the 30 day challenge today on the 1st does it!

foofi · 01/06/2009 15:43

Just a reply to my email, which says they 'should be coming soon'. Was looking forward to getting started!

do you think Gums has passed out with all the exercise!?

Where are we meant to write our thoughts on it? On this thread or do we get a shiny new thread (like the Joggler people )

Well, don't want to seem ungrateful or anything but...

am a bit disappointed that there's only one Leg Strap when we all did this in twos at the trial day, and there are pictures on the box of people working out in pairs -would be more fun with a partner!

Oh well, will have to motivate myself ALONE

futurity · 02/06/2009 13:14

i know what you mean about playing with others but I believe you will be able to buy an add on pack soon for other players..also I don't think you can do the 30 day challenge in a pair anyway?

Have done my first workout on medium..burnt 93 calories!

Found it easy to get going (apart from having to work out my height in cm and weight in kg). Did running, boxing, inline skating (fun..but how on earth do you do tricks as I was rubbish!) squats, leg curl things..I think that was it. Occasionally it would moan that I didn't have the nunchunk held the right way or something but mostly the response between the controls and the screen was fine.

I did have to cut off the circulation in my leg to keep the leg strap from falling down..this was only an issue with running.

All in all pleased with it so far..despite the woman voice over getting on my nerves with comments like "your thighs are going to thank you for this one day!"
