Mumsnet offline Thursday night

Mumsnet will be offline tonight, Thursday, from just before 11pm or so. We're doing a few small updates and a bit of housekeeping. It will be off for a while unfortunately, so maybe an early night and check in over your cereal in the morning?

I'm not going to offer MSN updates this time - you'd not believe the story from last time I did that, even if I did tell you, which I won't. The good news is that if it goes badly there will be at least a dozen people to blame. If it goes well I'll be around to take all the credit.

Let's just hope we don't hit the headlines this time.

great, great link

psychomum5 · 29/01/2009 22:26

squonk, I have done pretty much fuck-all all week anyway what with dying in bed with a kidney infection, and the VILE drugs they gave me for it.

in fact, today is my first day properly posting on here again, I have been that crappy!!!!

FAQtothefuture · 29/01/2009 22:27

no I can't.........the house will be empty, absolutely nothing in it apart from the carpets and curtains. My computer will still be sat where it is now.........

I just wanted to make sure I had "continous" service of internet etc so as this account is in DH's name, I've arranged for this to be cut off on Saturday (when all my furniture and boxes are moving) and for my new account in my name to be set-up tomorrow

I've packed all my books - wtf am I going to do while I'm waiting, no books, computer, no TV, no music.........

fryalot · 29/01/2009 22:27

erm... it will be back in the morning, won't it?

I mean "some time" doesn't mean daaaaays does it?

and "check in for your cereal in the morning " does mean tomorrow morning, doesn't it?

FAQtothefuture · 29/01/2009 22:28

it had better be back in the morning, I'm looing forward to starting a "I've got the keys" thread

fryalot · 29/01/2009 22:29

psycho - MNHQ should really have consulted with your illness... if it had been a day you were sick, you wouldn't have noticed until you log back on and it's all different

FAQ - I'll try to think of something you can do...

fryalot · 29/01/2009 22:30

oooh, ooooh, FAQ - go to bed? sleep?

oh yeah, I know...

PACK!

FAQtothefuture · 29/01/2009 22:30

well you'd better think fast - it's only 1/2hr to the Apocalypse

FAQtothefuture · 29/01/2009 22:31

I can't pack in those 5hrs - I'll be in my new empty house LOL - I don't actually move "in" until Saturday so everything will be here

fryalot · 29/01/2009 22:33

oh sorry, faq, I thought you meant tonight...

okay, you could... unpack? just a thought

psychomum5 · 29/01/2009 22:33

OMG yes squonk.........I might have wandered in and thought it was an alternate universe and accused you all of being aliens, instead of hairy truckers!!!

fryalot · 29/01/2009 22:34

just saw that the house will be totally empty.

sorry

Hello, OK and Take a break it is then

psychomum5 · 29/01/2009 22:34

FAQ.............will you be online in your new house, or will you be having severe withdrawals from us???

fryalot · 29/01/2009 22:35

well it's a relief that you don't think me of alien descent (although you haven't met my brother... you would be convinced of extra terrestrial life forms if you had...)

FAQtothefuture · 29/01/2009 22:35

I will be online - I won't skip a beat.

I'll be sleeping here tomorrow night and will will have my internet cut off on Saturday morning.

However, the internet will already have been set-up in my new house tomorrow afternoon.

I'm not that daft - it was the first thing I sorted once I found the house - making sure I had "continuous" MN access LOL

psychomum5 · 29/01/2009 22:42

that the most important thing for house move is the MN access!

FAQtothefuture · 29/01/2009 22:46

of course - I'll be alone there on Saturday night so need something to keep me occupied

YetMoreTech · 29/01/2009 22:46

Right, 4 minute warning. Do what you must...

In Slur's case, put the bacofoil on the kids 'eads and take out your weapons.

OP posts:
fryalot · 29/01/2009 22:47

I refuse to move house just in case the MN is compromised in the move.

Is anyone else staying up purposefully to make sure they don;'t miss the big switch off?

FAQtothefuture · 29/01/2009 22:47

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH

lol @ refusing to move house in case of MN being compromised

fryalot · 29/01/2009 22:47

FOUR MINUTES?

You said eleven oclock and it's still quarter to

We will be cheated out of eleven minutes of MN time!!!!

TinkerBellesMumandFiFi2 · 29/01/2009 22:48

That news report is hysterical! Was that done by an MNer who happened to work for the BBC by any chance?

bellavita · 29/01/2009 22:48

lol at squonk and kerry
