In a flurry of forward planning we're thinking ahead to January and would like to know your New Year resolutions (as long as they don't include spending less time on MN ). Thank you in advance.

I'd like 2009 to be more about ME!

Re-start Yoga

Maybe even learn to meditate for those moments when everyone else is arguing / crying / driving me mad, I can just take myself off somewhere without actually having to leave 3 small children home alone.

Take time out to be alone with DP, hopefully a couple of child free overnighters.

Do something big. Done jumping out of a plane and fulfilled my ambition to scuba dive so not sure what yet, but something I can look back on and say 'in 2009 I.... put my head in a lion's mouth', something along those lines.

Save some money.

To get back to running and exercising in general as this seems to have slipped in last month or so

To run the Manchester 10km in under an hour

To be more glamourous and make more of an effort on my appearance

To have quality time with DH and have more sex (am hoping the first 3 help with number 4

To get my business up and running, make money and go somewhere nice for Christmas 2009, so I don't have to cook and entertain, bah humbug

The usuals- boring I know.

  1. To eat less!!!

  1. To clear off a large chunk of my credit card.

I also know I will probably have to resolve the same again next year.

1, to get fit
2, to exercise more
3, to tone up flabby muscles
4, to take up cycling
5, to take up jogging
6, to get out and about and take advantage of living in a beautiful party of the country.

(did I mention getting fit?)

Mine are spectacularly dull:

I want to have a housework rota - you know days to do certain jobs...i've done this in the past and it works for me.

I want to keep running, started recently and really liking it.

I want to read the Bible in a year (church challenge)...have a lovely Bible that's helpfully already divided into 365 sections.

Dh and I usually set a few for ourselves that we never keep like go to the theatre at least twice in the year (and that doesn't count kids productions!), climb at least 2 hills, go out together more...

I want to try to buy as little new stuff as possible. I was inspired by the long-running 'no new stuff in 2008' thread but didn't really get a chance to put it into action due to ds2's ill health.

To walk for 40 mins in the park near DS's school most mornings before heading back into the traffic, thus avoiding the end of the rush hour.

To really get a grip on the mountain of stuff in the study so that we can turn the study into a bedroom for our new DD.

To take charge of the chaos that rules my life

To put laundry away as soon as it's dry

To not sweat the small stuff

To pick my battles with my 6yo DS
