Why so much hate on MN?
Posters hiding behind complaints about the government, presenting themselves as reasonable actors, to push hate about asylum seekers, people with disabilities, benefit claimants..Mostly the same names all day everyday.
I am told to report - MN just not interested.
I am told to hide the thread..
Why isn't moderation better?
I know this will always exist and exists on other platforms but MN makes no effort to even try to anything about it.
You can't really sell MN as a caring, supportive site with all this stuff offered on a daily basis in active.

Yes, it's always helpful when they confirm that it's not a Labour/ pro asylum seeking board.

They say what they think. That’s not rudeness, it’s assertiveness.

The level of hate on MN and posters with an obvious agenda makes genuine debate increasingly pointless.
Driving away the very people those with an agenda want to reach, leaves those loudest voices convincing no one except those that already hold the same views.
That is not debate; it is an echo chamber, of posters acting with their fingers in their ears even when misinformation is challenged.

Totally pointless.

And MN is a poorer place (and poorer business) for every informed poster who decides it is no longer worth contributing.

On what threads?

Because there are some threads out there where some posters do nothing but breathlessly run in with gossip about who wrote what and on what other thread, whipping up hate and pile ups?

I'm sure in Cuba those trolls and bots will be spouting communist stuff. In the UK (and the US) the big money is behind the right wing parties and political perspectives for obvious reasons. Candidly, the Greens or Labour can't afford to hire a bunch of trolls or pay someone to write algorithms to boost their content.

But some political parties, particularly Reform, can. So statistically bot content is more likely to be taking that angle.

Mnhq has answered this a few times, and generally delete all the bot accusations.

I thought it had got a little better to be honest. I get attacked less than I used to. And no its not difference of opinion. Or straight talking. It still happens but not as much as it used to. Obviously I can only talk from my own experience.

What i do think shouldn't be allowed is if someone has changed names if someone recognises them from style of posting little bits they have satd. Another poster should not be allowed to post on the thread saying are you that poster with thr yellow car, are you the poster. Are you the poster who's child draw on the walls in a hotel. For example they have name changed for s reason.

There a lot's of lovely kind people on here. Im sure they outweigh the bad. The bad side sticks out more for people who have been at the resiving
End because its hurtful.

What i also think people should try and understand that when there's such nastiness. Again I mean nastiness not difference of opinion. The person on the receiving end takes that away with them it doesn't vanish because they log out off the thread moved. For me it had a big impact on my mental heath. I won't be the only one.

Well report those threads and posts as orhestrating pile-ons probably wouldn't go down too well with mnhq.

They seem to be OK with this thread though, so that is good.

To pp - I think mentioning that bots and trolls exist on SM is fine, because they do. Even here on MN. In what sort of numbers is the debatable part

There's always pile ons. It happened today on a thread we were both on.

Around a quarter of voters currently plan to vote Reform or Restore, so doesn't it make more sense to assume that most right wing posts are real people (capable of being debated) rather than bots?

@NormasArse , there was an interesting article in today’s Telegraph on that very subject if you can access it, it’s a good read. I hadn’t realised that the term was initially utilised by the left to describe themselves.
I once saw a post here from someone asking what is ‘our’ position on a particular issue. I find that incredibly sad the poor soul was desperate to know the ‘right’ way to think. We should all be able to listen to as many different opinions and perspectives as we can and then make up our own minds what we think. I tend to think there is a certain type of person (not necessarily on the left of politics but often) who just adopts whatever the current group think is without much actual thought. These people very much consider themselves to be morally superior and that their views are unquestionably correct. There are a few videos I’ve seen of American college students being interviewed after having protested and chanted ‘from the river to the sea etc. When asked which river and sea they are talking about they are clueless. That sort of thing. Woke.

Coincidental that an influx of posters arrived at the same time? I've seen it before and have been on the receiving end. I can handle myself but others might not be able to.
