I am really curious at the originality of some names- just HOW did you choose your name?

I'll go first- I thought it might make me appear approachable and friendly- and it is also very anonymous- rather than including my initials or anything like that.

meridian · 09/06/2008 16:32

when I first started on mumsnet I was Daemara.. it was the name of a character I created.. and vaguely wrote about but kept the name...

Meridian is a very old handle I had from back in the olden days of chatting on WBS (were talking 1996) in the x-files room ... the full name of my handle was Meridian Ariel.. I kept the e-mail and then when I started my blog it was Meridian Ariel so I changed my nickname to Meridian... Meri for short.. which I love becuse my real name is short and cant be shortened... not well anyway...

NoNickname · 09/06/2008 16:41

SpookyMadMummy · 09/06/2008 16:50

Mine evolved through a renaming brainstorm to find a hallowe'en name and it stuck!

Ecmo · 09/06/2008 16:55

here
will prob bore you to tears but its the machine my ds was on when he was born.

Tidgypuds · 09/06/2008 16:55

My Ex-h once saw an advert on TV for those small yorkshire puddings called Tidgypuds. He then started to refer to my breasts with the same name after I had BF DS but I did find it amusing, hence using the name.

TheFallenMadonna · 09/06/2008 16:56

fryalot · 09/06/2008 17:01

I am a small, ugly creature, prone to attacks of crying

MrsTittleMouse · 09/06/2008 17:01

I always liked Beatrix Potter as a very girly girl. I'm much less girly now. Although people tend to assume that I'm as house proud as the original Mrs Tittle Mouse, which is a bit considering how useless I am!

MargaretMountford · 09/06/2008 17:06

my name is that of the blessed Margaret from The Apprentice but I shall return to MaryAnnSingleton after Wednesday - MAS is character from Armistead Maupin's wonderful Tales of the City series of books

GentleOtter · 09/06/2008 17:07

I chose this name because we raised a baby otter. She has gone back to the wild now but was the most gentle little creature.

iMum · 09/06/2008 17:09

I am a mum, I also have many mac tendencies.

My prior nick was just my name, and as I began to recommend mn to folk in rl thought it best to become a little more annon.

fawkeoff · 09/06/2008 17:13

MAMAG chose mine...we were on the harry potter thread last year....i am dumbledores phoenix fawke ....i just loved it so much that i kept it

SheikYerbouti · 09/06/2008 17:19

mollysawally - I mean, I get jealous of other people's witty and humorous usernames, when my own is so dry

solo · 09/06/2008 17:30

...because I am...even when I'm not it seems I am.

moshiecat · 09/06/2008 17:30

Loads of others I tried were already taken, my first nickname was so bad, ( chosen after a glass or few of wine ) that i wouldn't post, finally used the name of a book i loved in primary school.
Somebody else is using a name very similar to my first one now, made me laugh.
