What is going on with the app on Iphone?

Not only is it incredibly laggy and keeps freezing/crashing,certain features won’t work unless I refresh or leave a thread and rejoin ,but it also messes up my phone. It gets hot incredibly quickly, brightness goes down , it freezes and it drains the battery. It’s becoming impossible to use for more than 10 minutes at a time. This doesn’t happen with any of my other apps.

It’s incredibly annoying, as I quite like a bit (A LOT) of MN during quiet times and now usage is very limited , but the phone is also useless for a bit .

I’m on an Iphone 13 mini and everything is up to date.

Anyone know the mn email address for complaints? I can’t see it in the app. Mine has been unuseable at times this week.

It’s ok, found it…sent email. I do wonder if it’s down to traffic as well, as it’s fine at the moment but at times over the weekend I couldn’t even use it.

My iPhone is running very hot on the MN app. I don’t have this problem with any other app. It is causing me to stop looking at MN so much anymore.

The newest issue I’m finding on the app is that it disappears the comment I’m in the middle of writing. When it’s working normally I can leave the app mid-comment to search for a link or whatever, and then bring it back to c&p. But all too often now, when I return, the unfinished comment has gone - but the app thinks I’m still editing it.

Weird and frustrating.

(And yes - heat death of MN app crashed my entire phone last week!)

Yes, it’s very annoying. I’ve had a few posts I’ve put quite a bit of thought into disappear or have the app hang before I can post.

I read this thread this morning and was going to comment, quite show offy, how I used to have this problem but no longer did when pow! My phone completely froze and was very hot. Same is happening just now with lag and a boiling hot phone. Battery runs down super quick (phone is only just over 2 years old and I was considering shelling out for a new one!!). iPhone 13 running latest updates.

I should clarify - in case @MNHQ are eager to improve matters - it isn’t that my comment writing is timed out, (in which case when I try to return to a thread I’m taken to the Home page). What’s happening is that if I leave a comment I’m editing, but return quite swiftly, I’m likely to find myself looking at my username at the bottom of the page but the comments box has completely disappeared. Sometimes a single line of my incomplete comment is visible - but I can’t interact with it at all. At that point I mutter some curses and click to go back to Active or TIO - and the app offers me the choice of continuing to edit, or discarding the comment. Which obviously isn’t a choice because I no longer have access to the now invisible comments box on the thread.

It’s all a bit head-scratch-y.

Morning, everyone. We’ve just released a new version of the Mumsnet iOS app.

This update includes a fix for the recent overheating and battery drain issues that some of you have been experiencing.

We’ve also made it easier to post in your favourite boards - any topics you follow will now appear right at the top of the list when you’re choosing where to post or when using advanced search.

The update is rolling out now, so you should see it on your device soon (you can also head to the App store and check to see if the update is available there).

I am still having all the above issues on the website, not the app. I wrote two comments night on different threads and both disappeared half way through posting as the page refreshed.

I'm also having issues on the iphone and ipad app. Nothing loads, just a message that says "Oops, we can't load this page". I've updated both, but nothing changes.

What’s the new version number, please?

I still can’t use the website on my phone as all the same issues are occurring and last night the app wasn’t showing any posts at all.

Same here, being going on for about 3 weeks. Website on iPhone. Pages freeze and then snarl up whole internet access, can’t even navigate away or close the tab. Hot phone too. Things are slow for me on iPad too but not like on phone.

Ok, I’ve just updated to 45.1.7. Really hope it has fixed things.

The app is now working today thank you.

Is there any update on the mobile website? As with others, I am having all the same issues and was starting to think I needed a new phone before I found this post.

Yesterday no posts would load for me. I had to delete the app and re-install it.

I’ve also had a few occasions where I’ve responded to someone’s post and the whole lot has disappeared when I’ve clicked the ‘edit’ or ‘post’ button.
