What is going on with the app on Iphone?

Not only is it incredibly laggy and keeps freezing/crashing,certain features won’t work unless I refresh or leave a thread and rejoin ,but it also messes up my phone. It gets hot incredibly quickly, brightness goes down , it freezes and it drains the battery. It’s becoming impossible to use for more than 10 minutes at a time. This doesn’t happen with any of my other apps.

It’s incredibly annoying, as I quite like a bit (A LOT) of MN during quiet times and now usage is very limited , but the phone is also useless for a bit .

I’m on an Iphone 13 mini and everything is up to date.

Yep, it’s making my iPhone hot too, suddenly. I seem to remember this being a big problem a few years ago…

iOS update might solve this

For me it’s not the app I’m using, the website on a browser on my iPhone 13, up to date software etc. freezes constantly, prevents use of other windows on the browser whilst on mumsnet and is unusable at more times that it is usable. It’s been going on for a month I’d say.

Never seen the desktop version so bad. Unusable.

Another thing is that I’m getting AIBU posts when I don’t follow it in my settings on both app and mobile site.

It just took 5 minutes ( not exaggerating) to write 3 lines here then the page reloaded because a problem occurred and it went.

I'm on iPad but on the web page not the app and it’s nearly unusable. I’ve just given up trying to read the Alan thread due to it freezing constantly and also saying I wasn’t logged in when I tried to react to a post.

I want to follow the Sandie Peggie submissions tomorrow, please get this sorted.

it keeps not letting me comment on some threads too. It’s very laggy and slow.

I stopped using the app over a year ago when there was a common problem of it making iPhones really hot and run down the battery in double quick time. I now use the website on my phone but two days ago using the website started making my phone heat up. So I'm not using MN on my phone any more, just on my laptop.

The problem went on for aeons last time so I doubt it'll be fixed quickly this time either.

I had to stop using the mobile site when advert blocking was banned - it became impossible. But I do worry about the potential damage to my phone from this constant overheating.

I have the same issues. Been happening for about a week. My phone gets ridiculously hot.

I usually prefer the app, I find it much easier to read than the browser version nowadays but it keeps losing what I’m trying to write. And freezing etc.

As I think I’ve said, I’m not sure all my other apps including safari are behaving entirely correctly at the moment, I really do think there may have been something wrong in the last iOS update but it’s affecting MN app particularly badly.

I’m also having these problems with the app on iPhone: it’s running my battery down fast, making my phone very hot, lagging frequently and randomly reloading, crashing fairly often. I also often have a podcast on at the same time and the podcast keeps stopping when using Mumsnet, which doesn’t happen with other apps. It’s making it such a miserable and frustrating experience to use.

This is still happening. I wrote a comment and the page refreshed and I lost it again today. The page refreshes every couple of minutes when I’m reading threads and every time I try to go to the next page it refreshes the page I’m on first. It is making mumsnet very frustrating to use

I have the same problem. Dont get it on eBay or anything. Only here.

I was about to go to the apple shop til I saw this thread. The phone starts freezing and the I realise the battery is BURNING hot.

I have the free version. This started under three weeks ago. Not sure when exactly. I have to stop and key my phone cool after about 20 mins.

This is not normal. Something must be running in the background or something. Please can you fix it.

@HebeMumsnetany updates? I’m going to have to delete the app if this can’t be fixed, it’s impossible to use like this.

Please can you confirm that this is being investigated. Looking back to see what MNHQ responses there were, I think this is the only one yet. It’s not very helpful - afaik the setting you mention is only relevant to the browser version, this bug is in the iOS (phone and pad) app. As I mentioned I’m pretty sure it started happening after the last iOS update.

It’s crashed 3 times for me this morning already.

This. I reported this as soon as they relaunched the stuff with the ads. Nothing has been done. Site jumps, can’t type responses, page reloads, if it’s a big thread no chance of reading it as it constantly crashes, My battering drains badly.
i’m not on the app.

My iPhone also getting hot when using the app and it’s killing my battery.

Mine has been terrible this weekend!
