Please remove me from the infinite scroll test group.

Can I please be removed from the test group and have my account moved back to the paginated version? I really dislike the infinite scrolling, it makes it much harder to navigate the threads and means I end up leaving threads and not engaging with the site. I would have appreciated a heads up that I was being placed in a test group and how to opt out instead of being left to struggle with a frustrating and unnecessary change.

Could we move me from the infinite scroll group please

DrPrunesqualer · 03/07/2025 02:13

@HebeMumsnet
yay!

Thanks for sorting it all for me 💐

CrackerBarrelBiscuits · 11/07/2025 12:32

Please remove me too.

Please can I be removed from the group 😊 ❤️

HebeMumsnet · 14/07/2025 11:51

We'll add everyone above here to the list to be removed from the group.

Please remove me too.

I don’t know if my “infinite scroll” issue is the same as everyone else’s, but I am finding it annoying.

I have numbered pages in the threads themselves (both on Safari and Chrome - I don’t use the app), so that’s not an issue, but in the topics themselves the thread lists are infinite scroll. So if I go to “Holidays”, say, I used to be able to go to the second page in the threads list, view a thread and the back arrow would take me back to the second page of the list to look at further threads. Now the back arrow takes me back to the top (latest thread) and to get back to where I was I have to scroll through all the stuff I have already scrolled past. It’s making browsing topics really unwieldy. I used to like aimlessly browsing in Holidays for inspiration.

So if it’s possible to give me my pages back, that would be much appreciated!

@shitshowdown and @NothingTraLaLa - we'll add you both to the list to be removed.

What are the benefits compared to the current system? You say some are finding it helpful and that you’re trying to improve certain things, but why was an alternative needed in the first place?

I can only think of two possible reasons.

One thing that doesn't work well with the current page format is that let's say for example you join a thread that already has several hundred replies - but it's on a topic that you're interested in - and you want to jump into pg 23 for eg. Well you can't just jump to 23, because you can't jump further than a few increments so 1.......5 so then you jump to 5. Then 5....10 and so on until you get to 23 ( not exactly correct but I'm just giving an illustrative example). Same in reverse if you jump to page 35 but realise something important was said in page 22 you can only go back in increments.

So The Salt Path threads were very tedious to catch up with because 3 threads were already full (I believe there are 8 threads now!) and I wanted to catch up so I could contribute to thread 4. I needed an overview of the 3 threads prior, and didn't need to read every page, just every tenth page or so. Well it took a long time to say the least.

Secondly, the page position of the comments on a thread can change once more comments are added. You may have read a comment on Pg 6 but it shifts to another page once a significant amount of replies are added and if you didn't take note of the time stamp it can be a bit confusing.

That said the page format was way easier than the infinite scroll for sure! Perhaps it would be better with the changes though!

Was having problems using search engine so downloaded app -prefer the Safari problems -who would want to forever scroll - infuriating -and no see all on OPs first post and no list of topics and no pages so you can find previous posts ,terrible

PopJam25 · 24/07/2025 23:30

Please can I be removed. The constant page refresh also makes the infinite scroll unusable. Thank you.

JoMumsnet · 25/07/2025 12:10

@Strawberrri and @PopJam25 - all sorted.

AdeptOP · 26/07/2025 18:20

Please remove me once again from the infinite scroll

I'd be going apeshit if MN did this to me more than once. It should be perfectly possible to put a tag on accounts which have already said no so that they are not (randomly) selected again!

HebeMumsnet · 28/07/2025 12:06

@AdeptOP . We'll get you removed again asap.

thebraveryofbeingoutofrange · 07/08/2025 14:38

Hi, would you remove me from the infinite scroll too please.

seaduck · 07/08/2025 19:34

And me please!

JuneFromBethesda · 07/08/2025 20:56

Me too please. I’ve been using the website for years quite happily, then had to switch to the app as the ads kept freezing the screen and making it impossible to load threads. The infinite scrolling is awful.

MinnieCauldwell · 08/08/2025 16:10

Please remove me from infinite scroll and put the pages back, thanks.

thebraveryofbeingoutofrange · 08/08/2025 16:18

How often do mumsnet check this thread?

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 08/08/2025 16:23

They still haven't told us what the advantage to them is of this infinite scroll malarky. I don't believe they inflicted it without warning or consultation on a large chunk of the board's membership if they gained nothing by doing so.

What is the point from MNHQ's PoV? Why did they do it?

I’d like to know too.
