Rewind to old app

How do I rewind to the old app! Just can’t get on with this.

My bugbear is that when you enlarge a photo it shrinks back to normal
size when you take your finger off.

My first time logging into the new app and it is awful! Boxy, dreadful font which is not easy to read, clunky, and cluttered. It feels such a step back in time. Not a pleasant experience at all.

@JaneJeffer - we're here! So sorry for the delay in responding.

We've gone through this thread by now and have some answers to the main queries that are cropping up -

• We're currently adding the ability for users to bookmark etc after they've filtered by the OP post

• We're going to work on adding dark mode as this has been highly requested and should help with the brightness that some users are reporting

• Unfortunately we're unable to add back the ability to select specific pieces of text due to the framework that the app uses. We're looking into other possible solutions, but for now we've added a 'Copy text' option into the menu on posts, which will copy the content of that post. You can then paste the copied text into your reply and edit it if you want to partially quote.

• We're still looking into the issue with the emojis not showing in the app and will report back as soon as we can

• @BoredZelda can we please check which device you're using so we can look into the issue you've raised (re being unable to tap back into your reply once you've closed it to read the thread - we're aware of an issue here on Android but it would be good to confirm so we know if it's the same issue or not)

• We're aware of the issue with the space with @ mentions and this is something we're looking into

• The same with links going off the app to a login page - this is on our list of known issues that we're looking into

• We appreciate the feedback on images and we'll see if there's any changes we can make there

@JoMumsnetmy issue has been regarding the removal of the ability to use the app one handed and asking users to press on three small dots - this is physically very difficult for me and I feel excluded. I’ve raised it a number of times but it never comes up in these lists. Loosing the ability to swipe has been fundamental for me.

And I miss being able to leave threads I’m on open and go to active without having to shut the thread down

Just wanted to add some issues seeing that some seem to be being addressed here.

Agree that the font is too small (10.9 inch ipad, 2022)
In response to the poster saying just use the website (sorry I can't quote you because once I've started typing my reply, I can't consult the contents of the thread without losing my post - see below). I stopped using the website when the app first came out. The website has intrusive ads that don't load properly and it drains battery and data. Why should I spend an extra £20 a month on data just so MN can show me ads when I'm reading MN in a hospital waiting room (often)?
There is no automatic capital letter after return (eg in a list like this when full stops are not needed)
If there is an ad near the end of the post, when you try to scroll past it it kind of sticks and you can't see whether there's a post below it. On this thread there is currently one post after an ad - I can't see the post unless I flip the thread
Hate the fact that we cannot chose our own colours. Previously I had OP in turquoise, everyone else's posts in plum and my posts in red. MNHQ posts were Mumsnet blue I think. Now OP is MN blue, my posts are turquoise, everyone else's posts are magenta and MNHQ posts are purple. So the same colours are being used for different posters, and there's not enough distinction between MNHQ posts and OP/everyone else's. Plus the pages listing the threads used to be white text on the background colour of my choice, making it easier to see where you were.
If I try to consult the post while typing my reply, I can't get back to my reply. So I have to either make notes on paper or remember everything I want to respond to before I start replying.
Edited to add (before my last point because I can't type after the 2022 glitch) when scrolling the menu that starts with bookmark pops up too quickly. If I'm holding the iPad and scrolling with the thumb of that hand, I dont think I scroll as quickly as I could on a phone. Feels like you haven't properly considered tablet users (although I am grateful that the app at least functions in landscape mode!)
If I try to use a dash at the beginning of a line after return with no full stop (I tried to make this post using them instead of bullet points) I see \2022. In the post preview I see a bullet point and an underscore. Let's see what happens when I post, it's below.

I'm missing the old ability to reclick on the topic to get back to the top of the list. Seems a very long list now so getting back to the top is hard work!

also the old swipe left/right to action on certain threads or replies

For anyone experiencing the same problem, I was able to resolve it by logging on to the desktop site and then was able to remove it from there.
When I logged back into the app, it was gone.

It’s a bit better than it was with the reverse arrows sorted . But please can we get the swipe left option to bookmark/ watch/ report rather than the silly three dots option which is much harder to do one handed.

I’ve asked so many times for this. I genuinely don’t understand how they’ve made something so much less inclusive.

I used to like the version on the browser a few,/couple of years ago, when I first started reading Mumsnet, I remember it being green and easy to read and to find threads. Then it changed, I also don’t like it being too full of spaces/white.

Same! I want this back! I end up just closing the app and going back into it, it’s a bit of a PITA
